I see there is a person on ebay still selling the founders key yet the offer is no longer valid. Does he know something we don't or maybe he is just gonna skip out with the money.  To amuse yourself do a search on ebay for:

lord of the rings online disc     IF you exclude disc you will get a ton of listings with the retail games, guides and gold.

The thing I do not understand is why is he not getting negative feedback?

I bought my son a copy of the game last weekend since he told me the game was 9.99 a month and then cancelled his account on WOW.

I found  the Pre-Order box at Fry's in Phoenix, and since it was not stated on the box  when the offer would end, I thought it was still good.   I decided to buy the game for him.  I tried several times to enter the Founders key on Tuesday but it gave me an error message. I called Turbine on Friday and they said the promo ended June 4th. I wish I hadn't waited to install the game and put in the Founders Key  so late. Had I done it last weekend I could have saved some money. Also,   why would Fry's have this box on the shelf if it was over?

I  don't think it's right that some people can get the offer and others can't .  I emailed Turbine after I got off the phone with Customer Service to say how disappointed I was that they could not help me and asked them why the people that are selling them on Ebay are able to provide this offer?

People will sell anything on ebay, and let the buyer be ware. Sometimes you get cheated.

I feel for the people that don't know better and get suckered.

They had Pre-order beta, Open Beta, and then a month where you could still get the discounted monthy fee by being a founder.
Considering that no other new MMO has allowed people to have such discounts ($200 lifetime!!,. $10/month),
it isn't surpising that they had to have an end to it.

Because the one's selling them on ebay are selling them legitimately.

The key they provide you is an authentic, valid key.  Whether or not the offer itself is still going is irrelevant.

Therefore, they don't break ebay's rules against selling a non-existant/fraudulant product.

Personally, I think ebay should have refused anyone reselling promotional keys for any mmorpg. But they're not required to, so they don't.

Funny, ticket scalping is illegal, but key scalping isn't. Go figure.

Goozex.com Try it, you'll like it.

Don't have sigs with a cheerleaders butt swinging in it, or the prudes in the Age of Conan forum section of mmorpg.com will demand the mods have it removed.

The sale is with in Ebays rules to sell if he didn't make a false statement that the keys were still good. Not to mention it is wrong to sell a useless item, I just can't figure out why he doessn't have negative feedback.

Zorvan,

It is not a legitimate item,  the keys are no longer valid.  That would be like selling a concert ticket after the concert is over. I had a valid key but put it in too late. Turbine sent me this email Friday:

On 6/8/2007 you posed a question to Turbine Support which was noted as
inquiry 36275.

The question you posed and our response are listed below.

Your Question, Comment or Feedback:
It is a shame that there is someone selling pre-
order founders keys on line today 06/08/07 and yet
the person purchasing them will not be able to take
advantage of the promotion of the $9.99 per month
because it is no longer available as of
06/04/07. However the seller on e-bay named .....
is selling them and is saying they are still
valid.  Is there a possiblity that I can talk to
someone else to activate this.  There is a person
on e-bay saying these can be activated or maybe he has someone on the inside
or something your company doesn't know about.

Response:
Greetings M,

Thank you for your response.  Please be aware that Ebay is not a valid
retailer for Lord of the Rings
Online Pre-Orders.  The seller gave false information if the auction stated
that those keys were
valid for use.  I recommend contacting the Ebay seller directly about this
issue as false information
was provided with the sale of this key.  We will be looking at these
auctions in more detail and
attempt to have these auctions removed.

If you have any additional questions or concerns please respond via the
below link and we will be
happy to assist further.

Thank you,
The Turbine Customer Service Team

The Frys at baseline and the i-10? I work there myself. I have NO idea why we still have them but I've said something about it.

Oh and you didnt spend much money on it, i know for a fact we only charge $0.01 for the founders box as it has no game inside of it and the key is only to get the founders price, not an actual account key. We've had that stack since they started doing pre-orders. Same thing for vanguard preorder to get the extra in game items. its only $0.01. Nice try though

Thats exactly where I seen it ! and yes it was a penny, and the game was 34.99.   i bought the game AFTER we read the offer on the pre-order box which had no end date to the Founders Offer.
