i couldnt really tell u in relation to DaoC cause i never played but heard great things about the pVP. however LOTRO monster play is fun. from what I read they are doing some "incentive" system to draw more people in to participate on the "good side" if u wanna put it like that. I started Mp'ing and its fun. id say if you like quest with heavy lore "epic-prologue" quests are awesome. playing as an Orc, or a uraki or goblin or any other type of monster. id  say get it. the crafting is complex without being tedious, farming is cool as u can make buffed food, and weed lol. im not kidding u can make a pipe and put weed in it for a buff lol.

i went to make bows, and witht hat I can get wood, skin hides for tailoring, and farm food which i tried in shire and bree. im at lvl 14 almost and this game gets more fun and involved as you advance. going from dullimond to shire to bree is a nice long walk lol, but absolutely beautiful. i would defnitely recommend this game even for a few months of play. its definitely a casual game, but can be hardcore oriented with the raids which are involved and exciting. id say give it ago. all around the game is very good, incredibly stable game. there are good populations in the game so your bound to come across alot of people doing the same quest. in fact i think while doing suspicious encampent by the tharsi lodge south of gondamon there was about dozen people easy sitting there talking to langlas. from what i heard as im not there yet, 20-30+ gets really good, with group oriented epic prologue quests, the crafting is killer i cant stress that enough. and of course the Monster play is enjoyable and they are going to expand it over the next few months or so.

the musical system is wicked feature. alot of people love it. you can actually do nonotations and play note for note and also do your own music through some type of script (not sure the full thing they are doing cant remember) but you can play a lute, what looks like a mandolin and go as far as playing ina  band and sync the music up. they are also doing some nice new features soon from what i read.

I think LotR is going straight into the gutter. I personally think it has no new content to offer besides MAYBE Monster Play. Everything else in the game seems like one idea over and over an over (no, not from OTHER games, I mean an idea within the game). If I do not compare this game to any other ones, I can honestly say I do not like it. I was in love with it at first, I even quit every other game I was playing to continue it for a week. Personal preferance is key here, but I disliked it a massive amount. Maybe it was because I played it when it first got started, who knows. The graphics are stunning, the enviroment is even better, the sounds are decent quality, variety of things to do with your characters isn't too shabby either. Makes me wonder why I dislike it so much now, maybe the repeated content really is enough to push someone away from a great game.

IT basicly has no pvp other than duels and raising monsters to fight people. So close to daoc pvp ... couldn't be farther from the truth.

right now as far as i seen there is quests you can do as a monster, raid, questing, fighting etc other players. Biggest thing i saw was you get a ridiculous amount of destiny points which will aid you in fighting. these i believe can be applied to your monster for extra buffs during fighting, as well as new skills/specials. They also translate and transfer over to your main character. I leveld had about 225 destiny points. when i did couple quests, when i logged off my monster, i ended up with about 1,250+ DP. whcih allows for higher maximum morale, power, morale/power regeneration. switftness, armor buffs, add hope to your player so you dont get effected as easily by, fear, shadow, dread etc.

i know for a fact they are doing a new incentive system, rewards etc. i read it on a website the other day. ill go look for it. so it can be potentially more complex and more beneficial to the overall game, and your character.

iu think this is it.

www.lotro.com/article/362  look at the part  "first - the meetings, and Building a better biome. i think this is the coverage i read. though i think it may of been another site i went to, so dont qoute me on this being ythe actual info.
