Hi

I am being pushed seven ways from Sunday by a number of people to get in a try WOW.  I really haven't had any real interest because of being pushed. I figure if I ask here if its worth even the 7 day trial I will get a lot more remarks from a larger base of players.

With the way its been pushed it reminds of the EQ crazy which I never played that ether because there was too much hype and my sister was an EQ widow. So I would appreciate all honest comments about WOW not just it stinks or its great but why its great and why it stinks. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

talk to you all later

I suppose we're talking about WoW, without BC -

Great:

*more starting areas and cities than you can shake a stick at

*Cartoony graphics that are sharp and detailed (sue me i like them)

*huge amount of content, you can get to 60 and still miss a 3rd of quests

*PvP battlegrounds are fun from WSG, AB and the very large AV (even if i prefer classic AV)

*fantastic world, fly from Org to Gaz....  just sit back and see the world going on below you, without any loading. None of this "zonal load rubbish" (unless you travel via continents, in which case.. i prefer a quick load than 4 hours of flying :-p)

*UI customerisation - wanna play poker, blackjack in a rubbish raid group. You can with a simple download. (i wish i was kidding)

*Solo friendly, you can get to 60 without ever going to the AH once or doing any instances. (you won't have as much fun, but it can be done)

Bad:

*grinding reputation is never fun (grinding mobs, is something you know you do in these games, but so much rep grind.. is a pain)

*end game puts you very much into one boat depending on your class

*bots, no matter how many blizzard ban, 2 rise up in their place to spam you with gold and ruin some quests

*player based economy (you want 200G for a level 15 blue that sells to a vendor for 6 silver.. wth)

*if you've never done it before - grinding for the mounts.

Inbetween:

Community - can both be really bad and really good, occasionally both at the same time

Quests - some lack variety, some are dull. But some are simply awesome, first time doing DM or SM are instantly wonderful fun.

Crafting - inbetween being too easy in parts to hit on the head i need an arcanite bar please frustration.

Class balance - there isn't one, if you get over this... you're well on your way to becoming a good player.

However - if you include BC, then some of the bad points become non-existent:

-Pre-60 reputation grinding isn't needed. And Burning crusade rep grinding is a LOT easier and offer far more interesting rewards.

-Lots of smaller raids and questline instances that are easy to PUG with at high level, let alone needing to take guild members along with you.

-Pre-60 equipment gets old very very fast in a few quests in BC

Dang!! now thats a review. If you don't do it for living your missing out on a great career with your abilities.  When things come down and classes have gotten under control. (takes us old ladies a little longer sometimes) I will give the trial a shot.

Though I have to say again I am more impressed with your review then with the game if that makes since. I will have to look and see (as i am a horrid noob  on this site) if there is a kudos button somewhere. I appreciate the time it took and how detailed it is. and the fact that now I actually am willing to give it a try. ....You should tell WOW to hire you for promotions.     thanks again for the information.
