Mastering the Art of Chill

20 dollars a month doesn't seem that bad, however I doubt I would want to pay more then that,

All MMO's have grinds. If you don't like to Grind then MMO's are not for you.

Heh, I always buy 4 Snickers Bars every morning from the 7 Elven; it used to cost under 3 bux.Now it costs me almost 5 bucks.
Hey i bought a $2.00 24 oz. bottle of Coke the other day and the machine didn't even have a slot for coins;it just had a slot  for singles...
Prices Go Up People. In general things cost more and more everyday. This is just how the world works my friends.

Anyways,
I do believe Age of Conan will be a step above all other mmorpgs.

A higher monthly fee could be easily justified.Heck, I would even pay 24.95 a month to play this game.
Heck,I would even  pay 149.95 for a special "Collectors Edition" box(if they included a real bronze 2 hand axe with the name Conan engraved on it or something neato)

I think that this game will raise the bar and set a new standard in the genre for future mmorpgs.
Charging $19.95 per month for a game with all that Age of Conan will offer only makes sense to me.
I hope someone important from Funcom reads this. Someone could be gettin' a raise.
If I write here what I think about you I'll probably get a warning or be banned, so I'll just say I dont like your opinion. Have fun In your: "I wanna pay more for the same" fantasy land.

You missed the point. The developers themselves are building this game with adults in mind.
It's only natural that a targeted adult audience will have more funds in the bank = higher monthly fees
Put yourself in the developers or publishers shoes.

If thats the reason for justifying the charge then they can suck my balls for a membersip!

No clue if that has been said before but funcom is a europeen based company and $19.95 is exactly what I pay for wow: 13 € -- your currency is a bit weak nowadays

If ignorance were bliss, the world would be a *much* happier place.

They've already said they will be charging 14.95 per month, same as everyone else.

As for WoW, you know it's ultimately owned by Vivendi--a European company. Maybe you should complain to them about why you can't pay directly in Euros with a reasonable Euro rate instead of an inflated dollar rate.

No matter what game you play, there you are.

With the value of the dollar vs. many other currancies (Euro and Yen) falling like a rock, don't be suprised to find that soon 20.00$ a month on entertainment will seem utterly impossible for many gamers.

the US is not shielded from being replaced as the economic leader of the world. I might even happen in the lifetime of AoC.

Tip for Euro people and Japanese people.  Buy $'s now.

"We''re not making a game for Trekkies" Daron Stinnett, Perpetual Entertainment

Funcom has to stay in the $14.95 a month range or they lose customers and they know it.

They will make it up with value added web and cell phone services that are optional just like Vanguard did.  They'll give you access the first few months free to get you enjoying the web-based features and then start charging for them.  Everyone may not subscribe to the web base features, but if you get 50% of the gamers paying for it, you are successfully milking the system for more than $14.95 a month.

There you have it, that is where they will make their extra money.  That, and in-game advertising.  EIDOS is a big time publisher of in-game advertising for MMORPGs now, so expect in all their games sooner or later.

"I'll take MMO disasters for $50, Alex."

"This MMO release in 2008 lost half its player base in the first month after massive hype of non existent features"

"What is Age of Conan?" ...

"Correct, for $50, Ed2099"!

If I am not the only one here listing out the fact that we are entering or are already in a recession this is not the time to race prices on anything. Perhaps maybe after we fix the economy in a few years, but right lets solve the fact that gas costs almost $4 a gallon. As a college student I can testify to almost cutting AoC out of my budge because I have to commute daily using my car. The reason, the Bus schedule and my work schedule don't mix.

Between 10-20$ is fine for a monthly sub. Its just money. Theres nothing wrong with in-game ads either. F2P with ads and sub to remove them.
