im haveing a horrrrrible problem with lag in the beta....anyone know of anything besides gettin more ram that will reduce lag(turning some thing off or something????)i mean it takes me half an hour-45 min just to get to the other side of port royal! help!

It's the beta, and they just opened it up. You're GOING to get lag, possibly even on a high-end machine. Now, if it continues through the entire beta process, then there's a problem.

Alot of people are having issues....give it time hopefully they will sort it out. (it seems to be running at 100% cpu all the time)
