Ah, so the time has finally come for EverQuest to come full circle. Everything that has happened to this point has been for a reason. As you all know, the original storyline designed by McQuaid and co. back in the day claimed that the Prismatic Dragon, Kerfyrm, would be awakened to destroy the world and that one day heroes and champions would rise to battle it. (only one server defeated the Prismatic, we know of this) Now - recently announced is a new expansion that has been described to bring players full circle. The awakened Prismatic will now be encountered and battled. But what will happen when he is defeated? Simple - the same thing as what was intended before... Ages ago, if you were remember, a hacker later prosecuted and fined was able to hack into McQuaid's PC and literally download rough draft blueprints of EverQuest II. The design documents, later uploaded and spread across various sites like HackersQuest and EverLore revealed that Kerafyrm was described to had flown into the sky and battled Veeshan, and when Veeshan was defeated, her spirit would "buff" players and they'd battle Kerafyrm in a 'sky-styled' zone, yet when Kerafyrm's health would be depleted, it would fly to Luclin and crash through it, determined to push it down to the planet below. Also take note that CSHome (Customer Service Home) was styled to be the 'ascent' tower that would lead to the sky level to battle Kerafyrm as it was flying. After Luclin was destroyed, EQII's storyline would start. So yeah, after the meetings between Sigil and SOE, rumor has it that Sigil will become a subsidiary of SOE and go on to take lead of the fantasy/rpg design division, putting McQuaid back in control of EQ and EQ2 while SOE assigns programmers to fix Vanguard. That's only a rumor though, but it's odd that not even two days later EQ : Secrets of Faydwer pops up. Lol. At the same time, EQ II : Rise of Kunark is announced. I think I'm dead-on on this, which makes me happy, because McQuaid was always a good designer and would probably be more utilized in that field of work. We may see a Classic EQ server after all! Oh and another rumor from SilkyVenom confirms that EQ will be put on a "maintenance period" after the Fall 2007 expansion. Those exact same words "maintenance period" were used in the early design documents of the "Planes of Power" expansion - whereas early drafts indicated that players would have to awaken Veeshan by defeating all of her guardians (the other deities) before going to the Plane of Knowledge (before Smedley had the 'city books' put in they were originally intended to lead to the God's of each races deity). So my fellow EQ'ers, if I haven't bored you to death - this is all in theory - but as a former member of HackersQuest, heck, I should load up my old Compaq and see if I still have those downloaded documents.... Hmmm..... I'll be going now, but heres to a brighter EQ!! |

I also find it to be an interesting theory. Of course, only time will tell if you are correct. For now I will be pleasantly suprised if what you speak of comes true.
On a personal note, I'd like to see the return of story arc's to MMORPG like what you described. These days it seems like MMORPG are designed for just raiding without thought for lore. Where you take lore and story arc's, many now older gamers will follow. Why I bring this up here? While Brad (aka Aradune) is a terrible CEO for Sigil and likely a money whore, he once knew how to spin a good tale. Maybe he can do it again. |

Yes seriously, Thank you for posting all this lore, even if its true or not. I love reading about the lore of Everquest and always thought it had the most richest back story of any other mmo.

Its not until you lose everything that you're free to do anything. |
Ohh man, if thats true that means EQ1 might get fixed. -- Classic Server? That'd be the day the gamer inside of me is reborn.

I'd actually find this post semi interesting as a past Everquest 2 player if It wasn't written by someone who's only 19 years of age. I was barely 21 when I started playing EQ so that'd of made you what 11 or 12 years old?
Yea....unless your lying about your age I find the idea of you being involved with any of that stuff from ages past as completely false. Or did you start playing EQ around Planes of Power? Though the theories are slightly interesting regardless. |

I would hope Brad can never NEVER get a high profile job again. Part of the reason he left SOE was the direction of eq and eq2. I would doubt they would just hand it back. Also EQ2 is doing very very well after the horrid launch. Why would they want to change its direction. Your speculation would be the worst decision in SOE history other than the whole listen to LA thing. But thats another story. Brad needs to just walk out to Mission Beach and take his own life.
