Me and wife left Vg after 3 weeks while the startup and newbie areas were wonderful we found outside of those it was just grind grind grind.
Has it changed or gotten better in any way ? |

So the only real and honost advice someone can give is that only you and your wife might be able to tell if the changes gotten better as for some allot has changed (as in more content, quests, performance) but also many will say nothing has really changed dramaticly for them thought they still play and afcourse some will say nothing has changed at all but those we do understand are not playing the game. And i'm not saying everything changed for the good cause they still mess up some things and some things happen to me at some locations that din't happen before or in other location. Still for me the game offers more then other games offer me personaly. Try and keep in mind i'm a socializing pve player so my experianced is based on lots of solo play, chat, traveling, and occasionaly grouping but honostly not htat often so about group bugs i have a to low experiance in grouping to been effected by it. Get A hold of a key cause the two of you can be the best judge. |

Originally posted by calrantheIf you felt Vanguard was a grind before, then it'll still come off as a grind today. The grind also intensifies dramatically as you level (e.g. Kill 10 horseflies becomes a Kill 100 snakes, Collect 10 hyena paws becomes Collect over 100 feathers and hundreds of other random animal parts for some quests.) |

Okay hehe let me be more specific.
The beuracracy system was wonderful but once you leave the newbie area I found little or no depth to it. This game was suposed to cater to casual players too, grind is not casual player friendly. What is the solo ability like now, yes I like to group as does my wife but I don't like to be forced to group. |

Originally posted by swede2That'd be dependent upon the OPs own personal threshold of what's "fun" and what's a "grind". Kill X quests in one MMO are different from the next, or any other repetitious time sink activities. So no, that's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying that if Vanguard came off as a grind early on, it only amplifies later on because it's timesinks exponentially increase with no new overarching effort to make the grind less evident. That is the whole design challenge of creating an MMO, you know? Masking the timesinks which keeps a game fun and the perception of grind to a nil. For example; judging by what the OP posted, the "grind" wasn't felt during the newbie areas even though Kill X quests were being done then, it was felt afterwards. For folks like you swede, I imagine you've never felt it, but the threshold does exist, and if its met early in Vanguard, then things don't exactly ever reverse. |

I'd give it 6 months and see what SOE does with it first.
