I'm curious how i9 is going over with people who've gotten to play it a week or so. "No Loot" has for years been a common complaint not from new genre players but from MMO veterans trying out the game. Since I know this site gets a lot of the latter I figure there should be good crossover.

In other words, people who left because the game didn't have loot, have you tried it again? Do you feel differently? Or anyone else with an opinion I'm curious to hear.

My $0.02 was that I was never too bothered by the lack of loot, and glancing at the recipe list shows me a lot of inventions I'm just not interested in. Yet I rather enjoyed them once I got into it and spent a bundle on recipes I did want. My favorite improvement so far is my fire tank who was able to drop Acrobatics thanks to a new -kb enhancement, and who already has 12% Psi resistance at level 38. I expect that to get up to 25-30 resistance with a little more time and money.

And the Statesman TF is a nice challenge. I ran it 5 times, though I did end up on two teams with really annoying players who wouldn't listen (one stuck out to completion anyway). My favorite moment was with a team that thought we were doomed facing Ghost Widow with 3 scrappers, until I taught them to joust. 3 Scrappers and a tank bouncing back and forth to stay out of melee range was a pretty amusing sight.

I9, is the friggin bomb...I love it...I always had a small issue with no loot, but now you can sell you salvage items and recipes on the consignment vendor (auction house) and since I9, I'm actually able to afford some of the better enhancements.  And they game is just a blast to play, I love being able to go from mission straight to mission...and travel powers are the best game implamentation ever.

I know when I go back to mmo I usually play (EQ2, WoW types) I'm sorely goinig to miss travel powers.  I love being able to traverse a whole map with a few of my teleports.

Its just part of the great appeal to me, getting to the action fast, and that action being fast paced.

I9 is not what i thought it would be. I looked foward to a new TF after returning from a break, but then i remembered how long they take. The invention system is cool, havent spent much time playing with it. I just jumped through the tutorial so inventing confuses me but what i hate now is having to farm up salvages to make enhancements.

interesting I wonder if the KB Invention is as good as acrobatics? pvpers will still get hurdle but that at least saves a lot assuming its not buggy like Grounded which can be blown through by mako waterspout, powerburst from /EM blaster, and /psi defender

“Game Experience May Change During Online Play” is about ESRB ratings, not changing game content!

I never missed loot for the first 3 years of CoX but it's a nice perk to have.  Over the first few days I made a few million influence fromt he crackpots that were willing to pay anything for salvage or a recipe but the economy is quickly stabilizing. The Auction house is set up for blind bidding which is my preference, so thumbs up there although I forsee a bit less of the costume contests/free influence giveaways that would usually occur in AP.  Also, I think people that expect to grind in mmo's will try to grind through for specific costume pieces or recipes, whether they enjoy it or not (see #3) which is a bit unfortunate.

Good question! It's a Mag -4 protection, so some powers like TK Blast can indeed hit through it. Also Acrobatics give hold protection. However, if you have enough resist / defense powers to put them in and can spare the slots, there's nothing stopping you from using several.

It works well enough for me in PvE. In PvP you might want to use them additionally rather than instead. Same goes for Mez resist effects.

Regarding the auction houses, I found I was a lot happier once I got over finding stuff myself. If you know you're going to need things, then figure out where they come from and concentrate there. (As a bonus, these tend to be rather profitable too. For example, mid-range arcane drops, which Croatoa is loaded with, were selling extremely high.) However, for the most part if you sell what you get until you're ready to buy what you need, it makes inventory management a lot easier. I was worried on test but with all the players putting stuff up everything was for sale eventualy.

Although I haven't played that much under the new rules, they are very interesting and add something new.  At first I thought they would be annoying with something else to work for and random drops, etc. but they are fun.  And the villain tutorial is just hillarious.

The enemy is so dumb! They believe that WE are the enemy! - A famous orc commander.

I like it...a LOT.

However, I am not convinced it is as casual-friendly as the remaining of the game.  Yet, on the bright pro-casual side, the removal of money (5%+10% per transaction are removed from the game economy) and the bids favor them a lot in the long run.

It is complex to figure what you want for your character (compared to the remaining of the game, nothing that complex...but), and peoples are confused about what is good and what isn't for their character and where to slot each enhancements.
