Ok I quit SWG long before the NGE.  I quit, mostly because this was not Star Wars.  It was an open sandbox game, which is fine, but at the time I played there wasn't really anything cool (no space combat) and just too many things that didn't fit with the Star Wars universe.  In fact, seeing what SOE did to this game made me never want to play an SOE product again.  I am thinking that things have not changed that much, but I thought I would ask since I am looking for something to play this summer.

Anyway, before I try this game again, here are my complaints.  I am wanting to know if they are still valid:

1.  Dancing Wookies - I found the whole concept of having to watch someone "dance" pointless.  Further, dancing wookies are just wrong.

2.  Holo grinding to open up the Jedi.

3.  Only one character per server.

4.  Jedi's being Oped characters.

5.  Needing to find a PC docotor to fix you up instead of an NPC.

6.  No real groups.

7.  Just a lot of people sitting around, talking, crafting, decorating their homes, etc.

8.  Inflated economy.

9.  Blaster shots won't kill a bunny with 1 hit.

10.  Did I mention dancing wookies?

1.  Dancing Wookies - I found the whole concept of having to watch someone "dance" pointless.  Further, dancing wookies are just wrong.

Dancing entertainers are still/again part of the buffing-process in SWG, but you dont need it anymore  to heal battle fatigue (which is not in the game anymore). Entertainers can now buff virtually all stats, compared to the mind pool in the early days (the pool-system is gone, too).

2.  Holo grinding to open up the Jedi.

Gone.

3.  Only one character per server.

I think its two characters per server now

4.  Jedi's being Oped characters.

Not anymore - Jedi is a Starter-Profession now, no more grinding. Good melee class, but certainly not overpowered. Commando is the FOTM class right now (ranged combat, flame thrower, grenades and such)

5.  Needing to find a PC docotor to fix you up instead of an NPC.

I think thats gone, too - except if you have a more serious condition like disease (may be gone by now as well, havent had to deal with that since I got back in the game)

6.  No real groups.

True for the lower levels. Leveling is now very much quest based, opposed to the mindless lair-grinding in the old days. The Legacy quests will get you from 1-45ish and have an interesting story line for the most part. Depending on which class you play you should be able to solo those. Jedi/Commando certainly can, not sure about the medic class.

7.  Just a lot of people sitting around, talking, crafting, decorating their homes, etc.

The social aspect of this game is still there - after all there are not many other games out there that allow you to build your own city, decorate you house etc and have a player-driven economy as complex as SWG's (resources, crafting, etc.). And yes, I know, back in the day it was more complex...

8.  Inflated economy.

Can't really comment on that.

9.  Blaster shots won't kill a bunny with 1 hit.

Still the case - if the Bunny is level 50 and you are level 1.

10.  Did I mention dancing wookies?

No, tell me more...

Hope that helped a bit, maybe someone else can fill in the blanks ;)

Dancing Wookies still exist.  You also get buffs by watching or listening to entertainers, but they're not the same buffs from Pre-cu

2.  Holo grinding to open up the Jedi.

Hologrind has been dead for a few years now

3.  Only one character per server.

2 characters per server

4.  Jedi's being Oped characters.

Jedi is a starting profession

5.  Needing to find a PC docotor to fix you up instead of an NPC.

Doesn't exist anymore

6.  No real groups.

Alot of the game is soloable, there are high end areas where you'll need a group though

7.  Just a lot of people sitting around, talking, crafting, decorating their homes, etc.

They still exist, but you don't need to be involved with them if that's not something you like.

8.  Inflated economy.

Depends on the server I guess

9.  Blaster shots won't kill a bunny with 1 hit.

If you're level 90, the low level bunny is likely to die in one hit :)

10.  Did I mention dancing wookies?
