I just dont get it. Seriously!
This could have been the greatest game in the existance of MMO's. Had there actually been a game. Why did they bother "stealing" all our money with some Utopia MMO Con Job Fantasy , when they could have just freakin made the game and made TONS more. I've played 9 MMOs, since the start of Ultima Online. And was NEVER more excited to play a game than I was for this piece of shit. I know others felt the way I do. Raise your hand if you were in the IRC chat rooms for 24 hours making Chuck Norris jokes as we all tried to continually log in, only of course, to watch the server crash. Months and months have passed. and you know what? I am still freakin pissed off! Seriously, we should hunt these bastards down. ....okay....i feel better now. |

I know what your saying. But, not flaming you or anything...the answer is pretty simple: The core basic engine the game was based on was stolen from another person who on his own developed it. The engine was not intended for a MMORPG, it was only intended for a geographical world simulation. After NP3Cube stole the code from this other person(the name and his website is somewhere), they put what LITTLE resources they had into just putting code on top of that existing code, to try to turn it into as much of a visible MMORPG as they could, to scam a few individual investors and eventually many generated fans. Before SOG was even launched, it was discovered as you probably remember, that they never had a real funding publisher as they claimed...Farlan Interactive had the same owners/employees(literally) as NP3 Cube...they were one and the same. So they never did have any real funding capable of pulling this off. They were just scamming a few minor individual investors for 3 years of salaries and then some extra money from players on the end, and that was the end of it. SuperFreeza |

Back when people were talking about it, and the website I saw...I don't remember them mentioning games anywhere in their website/descriptions. So maybe they decided to promote that potential aspect after seeing Dark&Light try to do that? Anyway, maybe if another company tries to use the engine for a MMORPG, they could do a better job since they will be able to work with the engine-creators if they get it legitimately (instead of having to work on it without any support from the creators like NP3Cube did). DaoC, EQ2, DnL, WoW, GW, SWG, AC, LotRo and Tibia - atm: EvE Online |
I relogged in this game yesterday because its free and they dont have any personal data from me so I consider it safe atm to have a look.
Actually, the game pretty much crashed only one time while I played for about three hours. But besides this, I was stunned. This game has not changed a bit since release. - It's still a disaster controlwise - It's still mindnumbingly boring - It's still creepinly empty - It's still contentless, no quests, no dungeons, no lfg Plus, nowadays, the graphics are nowhere near awesome. they look pale and boring now, even the viewing distance, THE one great pro, is fading with titles like Oblivion or Vanguard on the market, which both share some of the very same problems of DnL, first of all size vs. content... Well well, I was surprised since I thought this game would have gotten somewhere, like newer SWG where you can actually see some development, but this one is a tomb of shattered dreams still ^^ Whatever, See you in LotRO :) Meridion |

The only thing left for us to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us... |
This game, for whatever reason, simply...will...not...die. They've revamped their website, the game is now free to play and there is even a semi-positive review of it on these boards.
There is not much anyone can do about it. If there are individuals who want to play and make the game work, they've had more than ample warning from this and other websites. Honestly, I wish them best of luck and good journeys. Maybe the players can make something the developers and Farlan could not: a playable gameworld to escape to. For everyone else, there isn't enough time in the day to be angry...I would just /ignore D&L and move on to something more enjoyable. |
