I really disliked the game at first as well. Hated being locked in the begining area reminded me of d & D online tutorial and resented not being albe to leave area till latter on.
However as far as beta goes i got in early beta and that game ran very smoothly. Some bugs to be sure but as early as the beta i was involved in it was impressive on what was done was done very well. I did try again after time and several major patches. Did get a toon to 20 . The towns were amazing the grapics were wonderful the townies, clothing, guards, armor, and quests were ok. Parts i hated were character models were terrible. I could barely stand looking at my character, even worse when in a group just couldn't stand looking at the other models as well. Wanted the choices in armor clothing the townies had, i am sure that will be fixed live with crafters. What made me decide not to pre order or purchase was the been there done that before. Not so much over played beta i didn't i took it in short spurts. It was more of the lacking of the social side and the above stated reasons it did not speak to me. The beta community was amazing that was a huge pluss so were the players. I hope that part of the community makes it to live and survives. A few features worthy of note, the wolfs howled reached there neck up that was nice touch The blob area near swamps moved fluidly not choppy at all Walking the roads never knowing if something would pop out at you and eat you was a nice touch too Chat system well done |

This game will most likely bankrupt Turbine if enough people feel the same way which is a shame as they have made some good games but botched all of them eventually. |

Well I don't think it takes 20 levels to figure out the basic game dynamics. Character animation and atmosphere will for the most part stay the same and I agree with him on his comments of the two (of course that is personal taste more then anything else). Also from my experience with this game it doesn't get any more difficult as you continue on with the story. In either case I decided to try the game again as a human guardian, and while I did have a bit more fun then with my minstrel and champion I still stick by my previous statement of the game not being to my taste. Oh and I have a few minor complaints while I am here. They may seem silly to you but they bothered me, and I haven't seen them mentioned. 1. Since this is a story driven roleplaying game more then one person should be able to share the same first name. It's kind of awkward having to think up a unique first name every time you create a new character, Especially when the server gets filled up. 2. It would be nice while playing music if you could hold your notes out for more then 1 note. I know this is silly and really doesn't change a thing, but seeing as this was my favorite part of the game it did disappoint me. 3. My biggest complaint though is that armor and weapons are just dull to look at. Maybe I never obtained the highest end equipment, but you shouldn't have to reach the end game to look decent. |

LOL , It is funny to see the Vanboys and Eve folk try to dismantle a solid game.
The reasons I pre-orderd. 1. It is Lord of the Rings 2. The animations and character models are very well made ( better then anything Ive seen in 3 years) 3. The art has a direction in it's design and is appealing to me 4. Their is a unique flavor to armor and weapons that seem to repell leet gamers pwnzoors 5. It takes team work and skill to complete missions 6. The instancing is done very well with bringing the epic story in focus 8. The open world has lot's of room for growth 9. The monster play has elements of counter strike which immdedialy hooked me 10. The community is above any community that is currently playing an mmo (Minus Ao) 11. The all around feeling of progressing (in a lot of games you gain levels , but you have no real value or feeling of progressing, which in turn becoming redundant and boring ) 12. Turbine is giving 110% to this title. 13. The music system is awsome, I love music ! 14. The atmosphere of the game , chilling in a inn , sipping on some hard ale , while sitting down and laughing with the peoples enjoying themselves. Beautiful thing To the troll you can continue to troll but for the most part , you look like an ass, cause everyone knows the game is a solid piece of work that is still in CB and is going to grow over the years with massive content. So have fun on your big empty generator island or star system ,and let the real gamers get to the gaming. |

But hopefully by then Age Of Conan and Warhammer will be around. all this is my opinion. If you love the game, that's cool. I hope it stays around, i'm curious to see what happens. |

I just don't like the idea of playing the pre-made monsters. Plus it's got more of a PVE feel to it especially since they have quests you do for the points to upgrade your monster. Why would I quest with him and not my main to get it up to level 50. Can you play your main toon at level 50 in the PVP zone? If so, that might be interesting. But how gimp will you be competing against monster toons that been playing for a long period of time and have max upgrades? |
