Originally posted by gpettWell, do not forget that 5 or 6 years ago Blizzard were in the process of creating a single player warcraft rpg. I'm sure if you looked in the right places you might find a screenie or two of that old game. From my recollections they werent terribly dissimilar from World of Warcraft. Now, if my memory serves me correctly within a few months of canning that project the announcement came about WoW. I somewhat suspect that Ghost as a single player game was canned in favor of a new mmo. I could be wrong, but with the vast popularity of Star Craft in korea etc that they can not pass up the opportunity to have Universe of Starcraft become the mainstream choice of entertainment for some 10 million+ gamers. :P |

Your Bolter crits Ork for 193 Damage.
Ork Dies. I dont see a 40K MMO playing anything like a fantasy one. I'm doubting first-person/third-person shooter mmo's are even do-able on a large scale. It could be all weird where players wonder around a lobby area and join 'battle groups' of like 30vs30 pvp matches or join instances where groups of 20-30 players team-up to complete PVE objectives, perhaps they would earn ranks to get access to better gear and stats. I can't imagine a Level 99 Space Marine vs Level 12 Eldar Ranger encounters where it should be statistically impossible for the ranger to infilict any damage to a space marine even with plasma grenades to the face. Its got me all confused about how it would work out. If they did it like the Inquistor system, where they'd do randomised hits and damages with all the stats and skills that might be cool. Still adding conventional rpg features to the Inquistor system wouldn't work too well, cause you cant scale your character's stats very much at all by leveling and everyone would be space marines if given the choice |

Tired of pointing this out, but at no point does THQ, Games Workshop or Vigil say anything about this being an MMORPG. Their terminology is MMOG, which implies it's not a friggin RPG.
Expect a FPS like Planetside only done better. |

If it ends up as a Planetside-type game it would be really awesome. It would also be a great strategy with WAR being a mmorpg & 40K as a mmofps. |

Originally posted by UlrikIt's not being developed by Mythic, so there's no reason to expect RvR combat. As such, they could set up the game to have every army fighting against every other army if they so chose. A MMOFPS like PlanetSide with the persistent soldier/upgrade system of BF2142 would be awesome. If you want a real harsh death penalty, go play Russian Roulet. - Hamzal |

I was very glad when I heard about the 40K MMO... until I found out it wasn't a product of Mythic... (Like many of us)... But still, it can be a great product. Of course, we haven't seen anything yet so it's to soon to say that it will suck / rock. Time will tell. |

Originally posted by LithdovI'm fully aware that mythic is not developing this game, as you said they could set it up that all armies are fighting each other imo they have to. There is no real alliances in the 40k world.. and i really dislike the MMOFPS idea sorry.. not a stab at it but THQ might aswell design a normal FPS game then theme'd on 40k with that bf2142 system then.. FPS game which THQ could make... hmmm Space Hulk maybe. |
