Ok i play DDO only the third day now but i played NWN since it was released and many other MMORPG out there and i have to say it is really a pain in the *** that i have to click dozen times on a monster before it becomes selected so my char attacks it and when i click one time to much, i select and unselect it again. The worst what happens was, i was surrounded by kobold, couldnt select any of them while a shaman from the distance blasted his spells on my, i died without ever made a hit on a kobold. The only thing wich suffered in that fight was my char and my mousebutton cause i clicked like wild for nothing.
It seems like every monster has only a little spot in the middle of its model that you have to hit with your mouse to select that monster. The last time i was in party, i never hit a monster with my mouse. Instead of that i ever hit my companiens, luckily my char didnt attack them^^ Why not make the monsters base (feet) be surrounded with a red circle when the cursor hovers at the right position over them, when the click means a selection. And at friends make that cirlce green. So you dont have to click like madman. Only search the right spot and click. Second the controles for diving are crap. That diving lower or back to the surface depends on the camera angle is really bad. Means when you are underwater and stucked with your view you cant raise to the surface and die. Better make two extra keys. One for down and one for up, when in water. Honestly, when you are underwater and nothing prevents you from swiming to the surface, like to heavy weight or no surface available, do you stay underwater when short of oxygen? I would rather think that every one tries to move up as fast as possible. |

Sorry you have problems, but there is nothing wrong with the controls in DDO, honestly this is the first complain post i have seen regarding this. I will explain what i can If you fight in melee range, you never have to select a monster, just swing your sword in the direction the monster you want to hit - your sword should interact with the victim. You can actually hit mant monsters in one swing. You should never use your mouse to select a monster you want to hit in melee combat, simply because you dont need to. Regarding swimming, just hit your spacebar and you will swim directly upwards. Did you take a look in option/controls ? |

Why So Serious? |
Ever tried hitting tab? It cycles through all the nearest enemies? How about the fact unless your casting spells all you have to do is face the creature and swing using the mouse you don't have to select them. You don't even need to select them to shoot at them. Personally I've never had a problem clicking a monster ONE time..sounds like you have some serious lag that...is really unusual.
Their swimming control is no different than any other game...and its actually rather easy....
Honestly this sounds like a ..... well uneducated attempt at slamming DDO for a combat system that most people would kill to have in MMOs. |
