News Editor Garrett Fuller takes a look at the new Zboard keyset for World of Warcraft's expansion, The Burning Crusade.

Building keyboards specifically designed for gaming is a great idea for PC players. I have used the standard mouse/keyboard play style for many years playing Dark Age of Camelot and World of Warcraft. Getting the chance to review the ZBoard Burning Crusade Limited Edition was really my first step away from a regular keyboard into a board designed strictly for gaming. Please understand, when a player has put five years into a play style; it is very difficult to ask them to change. What I found is that the ZBoard helped my game play a lot. It made things faster and easier in certain instances, however I am still adjusting after three weeks of using the new hardware. It is hard to break old habits after five years.

You can read the whole article here.

Cheers,

It's a good job you think so highly so of zboard. Especially after they gave you all those shiny competition prizes!

Didnt Blizzard ban some accounts using these keyboards? Claiming that they were exploiting.  gg

I got my zboard 2 years ago. My only complaint is that within about 6 months I wear all the letters off the keys...

I use a Zboard I won on this very website, and I love it. I'm not sure why we need quite so many reviews of them when it's all the same technology, but who am I to argue?

My only complaint with my board is that the right-hand section of the space bar sticks down a lot, meaning my sentences sometimes look a bit odd :) Other than that, it's a fantastic board.

Custom keysets are all well and good but as long as the 'space' key only works occasionally - it's worthless, at least as far as I'm concerned. Their shooter keyboards work fine, text entry isn't really an issue. But a game that requires typed communication has to have a fully functional keyboard. I don't have the patience or time to proof read everything I type. Good idea, bad execution.

I think that Zboards are great and i have used them , for quite some time now  both on the fps side and the special keyboards like the first WOW plus Guild Wars   and this board will surely be in my collection as soon as i geth the expansion.

I would get a keyset like this if they put the keys on the left hand side of the keyboard rather than on the right.  It makes it difficult to play using a mouse using your right hand the way it is currently set up.  Until they do this I will continue to use the "shooter-style" keyset for games like WoW.  The shooter keyset works just fine for this by the way.

How about a better picture of it?
