I'm just curious. Not starting a flame thread or any arguments...I have played WoW and in my opinion its not as bad as people think. It's not perfect but what game is? I'm just wondering if anyone opened their mind to WoW and tried to see it as a good game? When i played i had alot of fun, but i never reached 60. So really my opinion isnt as important right now. Since i havent experienced the full content and length of the game. Thinking about rejoining because quite a few friends of mine play. Yeah its pretty simple getting levels, pretty fast, but if it was really slow would that not become a complaint as well? I think its a fun game and people don't give it a chance because of the negative comments others make. Those are my two cents, im looking forward to non-assy replies.

The self proclaimed 1337s hate WoW because it brought many people who had never even heard of an MMORPG into their world. Ive been playing MMORPGs since the first days of UO and I have to say that WoW is a great game. Do I still play?? No. I played for 2 years and got tired of the end game grind. 4+ hour sessions in a 40 man raid 3 days a week gets very boring. BC brought a little bit of a change but not enough to keep me interested. Wow is a very polished game. The game play is great and it is alot of fun but it will get boring to everyone.  The only game that i think I enjoyed more than WoW was Asheron's Call...but thats a whole other story.

not everyone hates wow, i hate it for the fact that they could have made it more of a mature game than what it is now. IMO i think warcraft 2 beats wow.

For me its easy to sum up:

Blizzard does not care about individual customers

Expansion on statement:
If you are one of 12,000 players like AC your voice and concerns are heard.
If you are one of 120,000 like EQ you might get heard.
if you are one of 1,200,000 like WOW you don't matter.

But I do't wan't nothing you says.. well
what about back packs that look like animal x?
what about housing?
what about customizabl pets?
what about dye-able armor?
what about x?
what about y?

it doesn't matter because there is 1.1 million guppies that will eat whatever blizzard gives to them
becuase they don't know any better.

Blizzard is 300 pound gorrilla because of all the new people they brought into the game but
it is those same numbers (7 million subscribers x $15.00/month = $105 million per month)
that make them not want to change anything.

You think that the new expansion made the elite armor from the mainland obselete by accident?
no no.. its not. they will now sell 7 million copies @ $50 ($350 million for those keeping track) of
the expansion because if your going to play WOW you need those new LEET items to keep up with
the Wangs next door.

Hey but in the end its your money and your fun.. (i canceled my account last year and won't be back).

ok for me i hate WoW for many reasons, dont get me wrong it was fun for a bit but now its just blah.

It comes down to a few core concepts on why i hate it.

High end gaming is fun for a bit but in the end it is BORING except for the few moments of progression through a instance.

PvP is extremly cookie cutter, and alot of same old same old, sure they got the new xpac stuff( i havnt tried the xpac but from what i hear its not that great).

Alot of unbalance between the few class's they have are unbalanced or they dont know what to do with(shaman was a perfect example of not knowing what to do with a class raiding wise atleast, they made it a piss poor priest/druid)

Community is one of the big factors, the community in WoW was horrible and even worse on the alliance(for the little i played alliance, horde seemed more mature)

in the end its a game that took the best of everything and tried to meld them, but its coming to the time were we need new ideas and gameplay in mmo's to hold us.

Also i hate people who think WoW is the absolute best and will never be beat, and people who think WAR is coping WoW (warhammer has been around longer)

so prty much it comes down poor endgame/community/ignorence

Also id like to add that blizzard has sold out to WoW , i dont see starcraft 2, Diablo 3 or Warcraft 4 in the near future

Generally people hate something that is popular.  Also, WoW is perceived as "easy" and criticized for not having "enough depth".

That, and people suck.

Look before you leap!

Where do I start?

1. Dev's don't communicate with player base and are disillusioned with the true state of the games, classes and this thing they call 'balance'.

2. The CM team sucks balls and takes no responsibilty for anything that happens.

3. BNET KIDDIES.  Nuff said there.

4. While 1-60 was fun, once you got to level 60 the game changed.  Now with the expansion they made all the work we did at 60 pointless only to make the game more like level 1-60 again.  And once you get to 70... it goes back to what it was before... just less people.

5. There is a general lack of concern with several SERIOUS flaws to builds and professions (Shammies, Surviavl Hunters and Engineering are prime examples of this).

What is madness but nobility of soul at odds with circumstance? - Theodore Roethke

Hrm...I played a priest to 60, and I've played off-and-on for over a year...
  • Anytime the group wiped, the healer gets blamed; nevermind that the warrior couldn't hold aggro or the rogue pulled while the casters were at 1/2 mana. I guess the solution would be not to do PuGs (pick up groups). Even in a 40-man raid individual people can get blamed for a wipe (maybe it was just my guild...)
  • I got tired of the endless end-game loot grind. Levelling from 1-60 was fun, but after that it got boring fast; running the same few instances over and over just for the off-chance that a piece I needed dropped, only to see someone else win it.
  • Since I played a healer, staring at health bars for hours and hours wasn't fun. I never really got to see any of the end-game content.
  • PvP is repetetive, with no real rewards, except better gear. World PvP is non-existent anymore, instead taking the instanced approach. It also devolved into an endless grind, this time for honour, which in turn got you better gear.
  • Crafting is simplistic, and some recipes also require semi-rare dropped loot. Only a couple of player crafted items were on-par with what the end-game instances dropped.
  • Way back when they actually had decent community managers. Now they just don't seem to listen to their player-base especially when there are things wrong that are glaringly obvious.
  • The community, in general, is terrible. Make one small mistake and be called a "n00b." Make a complaint and be told to "Learn2Play" or "QQ more."
All that being said, I bought the expansion and I'm levelling up my priest (63 now) to find out what the Lvl 70 priests are complaining about, namely that we've been marginalized by paladins and druids as the main healers. And while most classes got buffed, priests seem to have gotten nothing, especially in regards to healing.
I've heard that warriors have been replaced by druids as well.
Classes in general seem to be unbalanced, the post-expansion pack flavours of the month are druids and hunters. Warlocks have always seemed to be Blizzard's favourite class.

All in all, it's still a great starter MMO, and probably the most polished game out there.

I'm just bored with it, really.
