Polish and committment to quality are things I don't see too much of in mmorpgs. It's nice that a few companies are holding to this, such as Funcom. Seems they've learned from Anarchy Online, which was released in such a poor state, but gained a lot of respect once it was polished sometime after. Mmorpgs that are polished and made as complete as can be for launch will be really something to behold. I hope AoC will be one of these, along with some others like Heros Journey and Fallen Earth. Both Simutronic and Icarus seem to be taking their time and really taking care of details, even if it means another delay. If the end product will be noticeably improved, I think it's worth waiting for instead of getting a less than spectacular first impression of a buggy game. My only question is about the release date. Is is only for PC, or is this date also for the console version? |

I'm fine with AoC being put off for another 9 months if it means they're going to polish it all up and get it out on the 360 also.
As for the PC users who are too mature to play with 360 users, I hope they do have their own server. I don't want ignorant fools like that playing with me, so by purporting that they are sequestering themselves into a haven for "high-brow discussion and mature appreciation of the finer points of the game", they are actually saving the rest of us from listening to them drone on endlessly. I can't understand how you could say something like, "I hope I have a different server because I'm more mature," when talking about an MMORPG. WoW, and I know this has been brought up earlier, is a perfect example of THE PC MMORPG COMMUNITY. This is what mainstream PC users are like. You tell me that they are more mature, inherently and because of their choice of gaming hardware, than Xbox Live or PS 3 users. Just the other day, while playing Rainbow Six Vegas, we broke off after a match for a cigarette, drink, etc. and started to talk about An Inconvenient Truth and hybrid cars, more importantly the government's alleged impedence of their development. What started out as kind of shaky became the most mature conversation I have ever had with 8 strangers. On a system like Xbox Live no less where everyone must wait for their chance to speak. This is, of course, an example of my experience only to show that 360 users and PC users are not intrinsically mature or immature, it's the user behind the gamepad/keyboard. Wow, that did turn into a rant. Sorry folks. |

That's the most sensible post I've seen in a while, Psycho!

To those saying that the PC gaming community is more mature than the Console playing community.
Got a little news flash for you. THEY ARE THE SAME COMMUNITY. Honestly there is so much overlap between the two that you can't really distinguish between them anymore. |

Any MMO that can be played with 6 buttons and no keyboard isn't worth my time. This game coming out for the 360 was terrible news as far as I am concerned. I would honestly rather hear that it was being published by SOE, or EA.... It certainly makes WAR look a lot better to me. |

Intelligent game-mechanics that reduce the number of required keystrokes or buttons to push does equal insipid design.
Wait, no it doesn't. FF XI is a pretty deep game, very complex, and it can be played on PS 2s and 360s. What does that say? That your fears are unfounded. Rejoice, and rejoin the AoC acolytes. The 360 is pretty weighty so far as hardware is concerned. Anything the PC can do, it can pretty much keep up with (so far). As for the gamepad requirements, intelligent layouts can negate the necessity of the keyboard's increased number of keys to push. Besides, they could always allow for a USB keyboard to be connected to the 360. It's not impossible, ya know. And just because a 360 player doesn't need a keyboard doesn't mean that PC users can't use keyboards. *EDIT* Forgot an apostrophe in there. |

Ouch, this really bites having to wait that much longer. But, if it means a better game on release day than Sigil is barfing out with Vanguard, then I am fine with it. I'd rather wait for a good product. We will all still be here, regardless of what games come out between now and then. And we know, all the other games due this year will probably be delayed another 6 months too. It's the norm. |
