The Persistent Worlds 9Dragons website carried this note today. It seems like Persistent Worlds will be closing up shop. So far, the North American company, Acclaim, has no such message, and lists the Game Status as "Open". MMORPG.com will continue to follow this story as it develops.

I havnt been in 9D for a while due to other Beta obligations for the last month, so im downloading the Accliam Open Beta Client at the moment and ill see if im able to log onto it or not in an hour or so :)

I'm really not surprised that it folded. There was barely anyone playing the game - its a grindfest, like many korean style MMO's - the only thing different that it had was the animations for the different fighting styles.
perhaps the acclaim (aka the US version) will keep going for the people that liked it. |

Everything has it''s time and its place, know yours? |
I just logged in 5 minutes ago for the U.S version. It's nice and strong at our end. Lots of people playing. Hope it stays that way |

After trying beta I'm not surprised its failing too - the game lacked almost everything..grind grind and more grind. and no key driven movement is enough to get me to quit.
maybe the death of a few shallow content games will send a message to their makers that the market is looking for a bit more.. |

Man This Is A Sad Day For Me =( I Really Enjoyed Playing PW 9Dragons... I Developed a Character And Was Getting Into It Pretty Good. Man I Feel Like Punching Something.... As A Avid Player I Am Angry That PW (Persistent Worlds) Did Not Even Give The Players Any Notice Whatsoever I Feel Like I Wasted The Past 3 Weeks Doiong Absolutely Nothing, The Game Is Unique, And I Think It Beat Out Many Of These Other Cheesy As5 Games That Are Featured On This Site, I Dont Even Want To Go Into Which Games Those Are,... I, Like Many Of You, Have Played Many MMORPG's, And I Thought This One Had Very Good Potential... And To All Those Guys Out There Complaining About Grinding Alot, STOP BEING PHUCKIN LAZY!! Tell Me A MMORPG Where You Dont Have To Grind In Order To Lvl, Tell Me One, People Like You Are Why Many Of These Games Suck, Because Some Devs Listen To Lazy Players And Make The Game Ultra-Cheese, Too Easy, Then You Have A Million High Lvl Char Running Around With Nothing To Do, Shortens The Whole Life Of The Game. To PW I Am Pissed But WTF Can I Do... |

...may get myself into trouble here... but... Pleeeeeeease don't blame PW here... Having heard from people close enough to the source to know, the blame lies squarely with the independant company that dealt with finances. You may not have dealt with them as 9D was still a free open beta. But those of us who played Carpe Diem encountered the incompetent and utterly useless company that managed subscription payments and, ultimately, the cash flow for PW. The f*c*-ups from this company basically screwed PW and prevented any promotion or growth that would lead to the two games actually succeeding. I genuinely feel for the employees of PW - for most, todays events came as a complete shock.
I'm feeling pretty sorry for myself, but I really wish the people of PW the best of luck. They were visible, helpful and always reachable. If only all games were managed with such professionalism and passion. |

It did seem to be one the cards, the 2 games they had weren't exactly top line flagship games. Then there was the basic timing of release of 9Dragons, the fact they wanted to run it P2P while another company offered it free, and the simple fact that its competing with some high powered free and paid games as well.
P2P was never going to happen because for a monthly fee there are a lot of better games, loads of them. There are even F2P games that are a lot better than it, especially in popularity with games like Scions of Fate that have a fan following that can only be described as "desperate" to play. They were a nice company, but it wasnt going to happen. http://www.nerdrage.co.uk/forums |

i have just tryed logging on and it game up saying that it failed to connect to the new patch so i thought that they were working on some of the bugs fair enough. i have just been to the main web site to find out that thery shut down, 9Dragons was unlike any game that i have played its more realistic than any other game that i have played, i just hope that some1 can take the lease out on 9Dragons so that we may play it again |

Acclaim could look into buying the PW user database, but because of data protection etc, that could be a problem. If they were able to aquire it and run it as an EU server then they stand to gain a decent amount of players. But since they are running a free server its unlikely to be cost effective to do so.

This is the "way" companies do bussines nowdays, don´t let you scam about they are a small one, soe, if feel they dont take your money can close any game without notice, one day or hours to next hour.
There are too many offers out there of games but only the good, the serious, the profesionals, (and fun, enjoy the game of course), can survive, players base, (almost all), not are stupids.... mmm o wait mmmm, aahhm human nature, who knows... Rest in Peace PW. |

Originally posted by Deadwood602 same here my RL5 Monk and my time is gone well i will start over tonight with the acclaim version cuz i like the game very very much. grinding in 9 dragons is a lot more fun for me, then questing or instance raiding in all the mainstream mmorpg on the market right now. i hope enough eu players will start over again with the acc. version so i'm not alone in the noob area's |

This Game sucked from first minute.
Good it will be gone now. |

There needs to be some sort of international standards commission to ensure that games that require monthly subscriptions meet a certain....well, standard. There are a lot of games that are getting shoved out the door, often unfinished and unplayable. The players that like it pay the price and for a subscription, then end up holding the bag. Thankfully this crashed before release. |

Regardless how i feel about this i think its pretty pitiful to say that a game shouldnt be allowed to excist because one player says so.
Dont like it , then dont play or buy it simple as that. |
