It takes a village to raise a child, but it takes a viking to raze a village!

Hi!

I'm trying out the trial and having fun.  I like to solo as much as group, and it occured to me that there should be a "Camping" feature in this game available to all classes.  In essence, you would pitch a tent and rest, allowing for mana and health recovery and even learning new spells.  This would make soloing in each class much easier and really makes sense.  It's kind of crazy to think that the only place you can do these things is in town.  I want to rest in a dungeon after I've cleared a safe area.

Jesus saves. Everyone else takes full damage

There are shrines in every dungeon where you can do these things.
Im glad you're enjoying the game though.

They are shrine that allow to camp within a dungeon. Some dungeons have one while others have several. (Some, which are hidden) Despite what others might tell you, you don't have have to rest as much if you conserve your spells wisely or use the best armor to avoid major damage. Avoid playing with PUGs who don't know what they are doing and you'll be fine.

I know about the shrines, but I don't like them.  I find that while soloing with my wizard for example, I have to run in and out of the dungeon multiple times before I even get to a shrine.  This is while soloing.  Perhaps as the poster above stated, part of my problem might be my armor.  I wear a robe that shocks people when they hit me.

Anywho, it just seems to makes sense that you could camp to regain health.  I know that when I played PnP D&D, camping was part of the game.

If you're a wizard, you need to make use of crowd control spells like Summon Monster and Webbing. This game is different from your normal PnP because it's more real time so you'll have to prepare ahead of time as to what your next move is.

I took your advice Lastera, and it did help a bit.  However, that dog that I summon is an idiot.  I just summoned him in a room full of monsters, and he ran out the door and up a ramp and just stood there.  Argh.

What is the reasoning behind not having health and mana just slowly regenerate in dungeons anyway?  It could work at say 1/4 the speed of being in town, and still be very helpful and make soloing so much better.

Why the hell should I work? She''ll just spend all my money on shoes anyways!

Also you might want to use Hypnotize and charm, those work good for me. Hypnotize in the center of a group and you will mezz most of them and whoever is left charm or hit with mm or niac's. Good luck.

The dog isn't an idiot, he's only emulating what real players do.

This was a suggestion made all the way back in alpha.  That they haven't implemented it implies they're not going to.  MIght as well stop hoping.
