I reject your reality and substitute my own.

As someone who was in UO Beta and had already been playing online RPG's for over a year before that. As someone who has played every MMO you want to name and basically clocked most of them. I would have more MMO hours under my belt than the next 10 of you put together.

Im so sick of hearing people who started gaming with like EQ2 telling me WoW is not for hardcore MMO players and is populated by noobs and kids. I am neither a nooob nor a kid, Im more hardcore than most of you will ever be if you live to be a 1000 y/o and yet I choose to play WoW.

Considering Im not alone in this and that I have members in my guild that make me look like an MMO noob I can only conclude that : Some of you people have no idea what your talking about, your so uninformed its basically laughable.

If life is a game where is the reset button?

I just wanna know why people actually think there is almost 8 million ACTIVE subscribers?  People actually believe that crap.  "Join over 7.5 million CUSTOMERS"  Most good console games barely sell 10 mil+ units.  I doubt a PC game would sell more than that and still have more active customers still playing that game.

Oh well on topic.  I tried WoW for 6 weeks and the community to me was the worst turn off.  Second worst turn-off was the fact that there was no use of grouping.  Why play an MMO alone?  Just get a single player rpg.  It serves the same purpose.  The gfx killed me.  I think I heard my PC yawn.

The crafting was a bore too.  I guess when I look for an MMO I look for something challenging and immersive.  Not a borefest like WoW.

But hey if you like the game more power to ya.

Of course those numbers arnt official, but then no MMO company gives out official subscriber numbers. That site is recognised as the most reliable source of MMO statistics..... so I guess you can take it or leave it.

I have never seen commerical success as a measure of quality in anyrthing, if it was then Britany Spears is the worl'ds best musician and Titanic is the best ever movie.

However in WoW's case commercial success has happened over an extended period. If the game was as bad as some of you make out there is no possible way it could continue to enjoy the rapid and continual growth we have seen since it launched. If nothing major changes then BC will grow the numbers even further and it would not surprise me in the slightest if there over 10 mil subscribers by the end of 2007, in fact it would surprise me if there wasnt.

Make what you like of that.

Most game subscription amounts are not known.  WoW is a crock they do not have 7+ mil subscribers.  That chart is invalid.

World of Warcraft's Customer Definition
World of Warcraft customers include individuals who have paid a subscription fee or purchased a prepaid card to play World of Warcraft, as well as those who have purchased the installation box bundled with one free month access. Internet Game Room players who have accessed the game over the last thirty days are also counted as customers. The above definition excludes all players under free promotional subscriptions, expired or cancelled subscriptions, and expired prepaid cards. Customers in licensees' territories are defined along the same rules.

I know WoW is the most populated MMO, but I would say there are 2 mil active subscribers, possibly 2.5m.  But 7 mil is just a crock.

But...... all you have is your "opinion"

I have put up a chart from a respected gatherer of industry statistics.

Im very sorry but "I think" or "I reckon", just doesnt stack up. Find some proof of your assertion and surprise me.

Did you not just read what I COPY AND PASTED directly from Blizzard?  They consider people who are not active as their customers,  They list them as subscribers.  I think Blizzard is more valid than a crappy mmogchart site which hasn't been updated in AGES.

Last time it was updated was when Blizzard said they had 6.5 mil CUSTOMERS worldwide....  which was like summer last year....
