What happened that made this game fall so far? A lot of MMORPGs are released too early, often still at the Beta stage. This one was basically released at the Alpha stage.

Basically it was about the spelling mistakes in the review and a response to someone who claimed mmorpg.com had been "greased" for that review. shrug "Fire is never a gentle master..."

What happened that made this game fall so far? It seems logical that we we're going to have some games that fail miserably. Not sure if anyone remembers but at one time Shadowbane and Horizons we're supposed to be pretty revolutionary games. By time they released they we're more trimmed down than Scarface on TBS. I think too many people looked at EQI and Ultima and said "Hey, all we have to do is build a world, stick a bunch of beatles, deer, and a few skellys in and we can get 400,000 people paying us $15 a month for it". No one counted on WOW to bust out with 6 million either. At that point many people's investors said "Hurry and get your game out and get that pie!" or they said "@#$* we can't compete with that, we're pulling the plug." Either way we ended up with 2nd generation mostly being total crap ( Shadowbane, Horizons, AC2, etc) and even now we see 3rd generation still reeling with DnL. However, DnL was really supposed to be a 2nd generation game timewise but took forever to finally release. Hopefully at least it taught a lesson to any other college buddy programmers sitting around saying "Lets make a MMORPG, it's easy money!"

Some people are always out to point out everyone elses little mistakes. Makes'em feel better about their own sorry state I guess...Take care! Ive been keeping a decent tab on MMO's but for some rason this one slipped me, WHY DOES EVERYONE COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS GAME!?!??!!? everyone says it sucks. anyone mind telling me all why in one post?

Well for starters, the game was released in horrible condition. Barely playable, but some would probably say it wasn't playable. Farlan/NpCube blamed the games condition on the fans, saying they were pressured to release the game early.(Even though the game was released many months after the original release date.) Here is a list of other reasons... 1) AD...the company that monitored the game was extremely harsh on those that critisized the game. 2) Lots and lots of bugs! 3) Broken skills/Broken gameplay 4) Many problems just logging into the game. 5) A virus at the website infected many fans computers. 6) Game had very little of the promised content upon release. 7) Patches did more harm than good. 8) Classes nerfed causing big imbalances. 9) GM's giving out uber weapons and recipes to favorite fans. Further imbalancing the game. 10) Bad fanbois. Insulting and gaining up on any critics in DnL forums.(Alot of bad hatebois too.) 11) Worst and unfriendliest player support anyone has ever seen... I could go on but I hope you get the point. Played Wow, D and L, AOC, GW, Eve, Rift and many more insignificant games.

That list could easily be applied to Shadowbane lol. Funny stuff. Now I know it wasnt just hardcore SB fans that got kicked in the nuts. Makes me feel a lil better :) It's better be hated for who you are, than loved for who you aren't.
