I know a few people in Vanguard BETA, well were . The game is currently being made into a solid grindfest, and a very anti-fun environment and all of them have stopped playing. These are the same people who were hailing it as a WoW killer when they started playing it, surprised even me with the sudden turnaround.
So mark this post in your mind, because if Vanguard turns out to be crap know that it was the DEVS and not sony that destroyed this game. Thank you. It's better be hated for who you are, than loved for who you aren't. |

I'm not stupid, I know this game could very well suck. But i think i will wait for actual reviews before i make a discision on weather i play it or not... fair enough? Current MMO of interest: Vanguard: Saga of Heroes |

i agree that if vanguard turns out bad it will be because of sigil not soe, so many people are so concerned of what soe will do or speculating that soe will buy sigil. if the game does indeed flop it will be because of sigil and nobody els, but at the same time if you want to believe what a few NDA leaker's say about vanguard when most of them haven't played it in months thats your prerogative. even if i was extremely skeptical (and i am to an extent) i would at least wait until the game actually released and the NDA has been lifted to actually hear what people are saying about the game. then i would decided weather or not to buy the game, if you let a few people who haven't seen the game in moths decide for you weather you will like a game that isn't being released until next year, be my guest. i for one like to think for myself, i will decide for myself weather it is fun or not, or at least wait until the game is released and read some REAL reviews about it. its funny when people complain about the graphics and use that as there excuse to not want to play the game (especially alot of those idiots on the FOH boards) but yet its graphics are a hell of alot better than most mmog's out there now or being developed. people complain about little stupid things that mean absolutely nothing when it comes to a game being fun, they complain about animations that haven't been finished or all the trees looking the same, for example. that stuff does not matter one bit when it comes to a game being fun to play, and all can be fine tuned and fixed in time. all that being said, yeah the game can fail...it is possible, but with everything i have read along with all the attention it gets i seriously doubt it. |

I agree with baphamet. There's no way you could judge a game based upon the testimonys of a few people. When a substantial review of the game becomes accesible, I may take what is written in it into consideration. Note the"may." Ultimately, it is up to me to decide if I like the game. Also, I won't let a group of naysayers ruin my excitement about the upcoming release. Based upon what I've seen and read, Vanguard looks great. I'm not saying that there is no way it will fail. I'm just saying that I'd rather look on the positive side and hope that it will meet my expectations.

Oh, that hurts so much coming from a rabid anti-fan such as yourself (btw, what is worse? being the fan of something, or just avidly hating?). Let me ask you this, what do you think the reviews of WoW would be like if all those who liked it weren't allowed to discuss it or they would lose their account, but those who didn't like it could speak freely because they didn't care about playing the game anyway? How many thousands of negative reviews would there be versus very few positive ones?

n2sooner, you are still not in Beta? I can't believe that supporters like you hadn't been invited yet. Actually I am not. Apparently Sigil choose the beta invites with their arses, instead of inviting real supporters they invited all the WOW kids. I am not surprised that no one is logging into Beta............so far for the promise to invite real fans first.........

Well now, since the game is still under NDA, I couldn't tell you if I was in beta or not. BTW, according to Brad, there are more players on the beta server on average then there are on many active MMO servers.

not that i totally disagree with what you are saying but to be quite honest, it would be a mistake to just invite hardcore fans to your beta. you don't want to have people with no objection at all just praising your game, you want people who are going to find bugs and complain about them, you want people who have a objective opinion but are also willing to test your game. that being said, i have been a fan of vanguard for a couple years now and have been signed up for beta since day one and still haven't gotten in. i cant say that it really bothers me that much, i don't have a high end computer and it would probably not get the best frame rate anyways. as long as i can get in beta at some point i will be happy, but what makes me mad is the people that whine about getting into beta only because they want to see what the game looks like. but whatever, i will keep waiting and trolling these boards in the meantime. |

Yeah, and I bet if he told you the sky was falling. You would believe him without even giving it a second thought. I think alot of you missed the point the original poster was trying to make. In so many words, all he said was. "If" vanguard sucks, the finger should be pointed at Sigil not SoE.

I understand your point totally. But there is no point in letting people in, who basically don't give a shit about the game either. Plus, as you will know, true fans are demanding. Fans who are not critical towards the game, are not true fans in my view, they are just fanboys. If I was in, I would have been a total pain in the arse for the developers, in a positive constructive way. And that s the way it should be.

yeah i agree alot of people want in just to see what the game looks like, they are not willing to actually test the game and that goes for fans as well as skeptics. i believe there should be a healthy mixture of the two, and i also believe it is near impossible to determine witch type of beta tester you are going to get upon inviting them. considering the amount of testers they need i assume it is really hard to screen testers, and I'm sure sigil is partly to blame for this but i think it is better than the alternative, witch is only inviting fanboi's to beta that a good majority will just praise the game and not really test it or give feedback. true alot of fans are like what you describe yourself to be, but i think that is the minority when talking about the fanboi's over on the official forums. |
