After all is said and done, a lot more is said than done.

The graphics are nice and the sound is cool, but these guys need to borrow some stuff from a real old school game....i hate to say it....Runescape.  The quests in AO are so lame.   Every time I find myself in a room, by myself, fighting mobs. All these dang missions and quests look the same.  At least in Runescape I can get items that I can craft into other items and level up, and the Runescape missions are mini-stories that add to the character and history of the game. I've resigned myself to the level grind in MMORGPs, but how about making it fun? Also, how about some history and continuity?  What the heck am I supposed to do with 2500 "robot junk"?  There is no need for this.  Also the chat system stinks.  I had no idea who was saying what I was seeing on the chat window.  I must say I really did like the interface with the transparent windows though.  How about some chat boxes above peoples heads?  Then I can see who's saying something and join in the community.  All saw was people standing around doing nothing.  I wouldn't play this game in present form.  I did really like the look of the game though, and would welcome replies from experienced AOers who know different than I do.

have to agree the missions are very repetitive but they are only a very small part of the game. i had some trouble with the chat interface too but i got used to it very quickly and i wouldnt complain about it now. i startet as a froob as well 1,5 years ago (lvl 211/15 now :) ) and imo its the best mmorpg out there. its very very deep and complex but thats probably what has kept me there for so long.

You can certainly get items to craft into other items and level up - more so than any other MMORPG.  All that robot junk can be processed with a screwdriver and that alone gives you a (tiny) amount of XP.  And the backstory to AO is more developed than Runescape (see: Prophet Without Honor for starters).  The chat system (with other ppl) is pretty elaborate, you have to set up chat boxes and subscribe them to available channels.  Chatting with NPC's generates pop-up dialog boxes.

I believe you guys. I can't believe that with the depth and complexity of AO that the devs would have left so many facets of the game undeveloped....I just didn't know how to access it.  The fan sites of Runescape really spoonfeed strategy to players because the game is so simple.  With the complexity of AO I could see where its impossible to spoonfeed anything.  I'm hooked on EVE now, which is not quite as complex as AO IMHO. Dang, if someone could just melt AO and EVE together, and then add in aspects of interactive combat (like, I hate to say, space cowboy..gag).....We'd be in MMORPG heaven

You're complaining about the lack of crafting and then you use junk parts as an example of "useless" items? Junk parts are used to make armor. There are alot of things that can be crafted/upgraded in AO. Read a guide please. Chat boxes above peoples heads when you can make seperate chat boxes for evry channel in the game? Someone has come here from WoW, it appears. And this game has more history and continuity, as you put it, then most games made. There is lore, evolving storylines, there is a storyline which also uses the quests in Shadowlands, all the quest in the game are part of the story. Bits and pieces to add to the lore. The missions are a part of the storyline, since you are usually fighting mobs of the opposite faction. I'm sorry the game wasn't for you, but if you are going to complain about specific parts of the game, do your research first.

Zorvan, if your gonna flame me about "doing research", do your own, as in read the other posts above yours.  You're just repeating what everyone else said.  Then again, some people are just impressed with seeing their unoriginal ideas on the forums.....yawn.  And I don't need to do any research to be able to tell everyone that doing missions when they all look identical makes the game really stupid.  It wouldn't take very complicated AI software to make the missions look different.

The only one flaming is you. I simply responded to your post. As far as being impressed by seeing my "unoriginal ideas" on the forum, I didn't post ideas. I posted facts about the game. But go ahead and yawn. I'm sure you do alot of that playing WoW::::07:: Oh, by the way. If you don't like criticism from players while you are here criticizing their game, then perhaps you would be better off just not posting.

I disagree, and I don't play Wow. I play guitar and piano....and surf.  Thats the nice thing about playing EVE. I have a life and I still level my MMORPG character.  I highly recommend EVE to anyone that would like to NOT stare at a pc for most of their life while still enjoying a powerful MMORPG character.

Some of us don't like "playing" a game that plays itself. However, there are a lot of us that have a life and still are able to play games that actually require us to play them to advance. I won't knock Eve though. To each their own. It's nice that you play musical instruments and play in the water. Myself, I work from home, so I have more computer time than most.
