Doubt anyone is going to come accross this post. But is it just me, or does this game almost exactly copy the WoW engine, from healthbar layout, the quick bar layout, to character screen select, to login menu and even graphics style. It kinda looks like someone took the WoW engine and just changed the models and textures around...
When I first saw this game, I though "Whoah is blizzard releasing another MMO?" until I saw it was done by NCSoft... Is there any particular reason for the similarities i'm noticing? Or am I just tripping? |

For a game that is supposed to be coming out next quarter, things have been awfully silent. Even the crickets are wondering what's up..

It seems like this game would appeal to more casual gamers, not like most that seem to be liked by hardcore gamers.
Still, I think it looks cool. Not great though. |

Its a cross between WoW & DDO with none of the advantages of either game :(

This game has a chance, I for one like PlayNC games.
It's free, I'm sure it won't cost $10 for a new class, prolly $5. I spend that much on Oblivion downloads. SAVE THE GATE! www.SAVESTARGATESG1.com |

Really this game seems to be structured a lot like GW, but with a deliberate WoW look and feel. The game is instanced to keep network requirements low and make a monthly fee unnecessary. The graphics, UI, and even the combat seems to be pretty similiar to WoW, and the game seems to be based around PvE (leveling and even more so ITEM HUNTING). The whole idea of 'running a dungeon' is just so reminicent of Diablo that its rediculous. This is definitely a Diablo-ish game laid out in a WoW format, probably in hopes of attracting the Blizzard fan-base. The thing that has driven me crazy about this game is trying to find out something about it. Since it was demo'd in May, there has been no news or information available. I've looked and seen nothing. If this turns out to be Diablo style gameplay, with support for things like an auction house and guilds built in, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I would agree that it wouldn't really be an MMORPG, but I don't much care about that label. I just want a game that I can have fun with without being "required" to group up with a bunch of people for hours at a time to get anywhere. If anyone can point me to information about this game that is more recent than June, I'd be very appreciative. I suppose that I could wait for Helgate: London, but this game sounds a lot like Diablo 3, which would be great if they pull it off. |

It amazes me how people just simply break an NDA all the time. Not just this game, but every game I've pretty much ever seen in beta, people talk about it regardless of an NDA.

I am amazed at the complete lack of publicity surrounding this title. They were releasing screenshots, doing interviews, etc., just like every other game does throughout the pre-release period. This site is dedicated to publishing that hype. NCSoft is not new to the business. It just strikes me as strange that they haven't released more information for a game that supposedly is very close to shipping. |

After playing it some and just from the people I know, I get the feeling that a lot of WoW players would be much more interested in playing a game like Diablo. I'm pretty surprised blizzard hasnt come out with Diablo III yet, but Dungeon Runners sounds insanely like a Diablo clone. It does have many similarities to the style of graphics associated with WoW. This is for a number of reasons - first the WoW fanbase is huge so tap into it by familiarity. Additionally the success of WoW is down to the fluidity of game play due to low spec graphics i.e. runs easy unlike DDO. further more the graphics lend to the atmosphere of fun (and cartoon) and are therefor more pleasing to the crack console generation. I for one can take or leave good graphics as it is down to the core game structure that makes a great game. This has RANDOM DUNGEONS...I say it again RANDOM DUNGEONS....this is going to bring mmorg out of the stone age! all mmorg so far are simply complex platform games...you jump through the hoops the game designers give you! Here we have the beginning of a game with a soul! Yes, the game designers will still set boundaries with rules to play in but the element of randomness will mean that no two adventures will ever be the same. Simply put it is one of the fundementals of having fun...yes... the unexspected.... Dungeon Runners may not end up being a great game but it will be the first to make a leap forward for mmorg evolution in the same way DDO has pushed the borders forward for combat....if only these 2 games would marry and create a bastard child! |
