Game Arena (Aus) has a new LotR gameplay video up. It's a long video and gives you a great overview of gameplay. That being said... I have to say, that is some of the most uninspirational gameplay I've seen in an MMO to date. Anyone find what you're seeing there to be remotely exciting? And it pretty much just looks like D&DO with a new interface... well sort of new. Can't say watching that movie makes me go "Oh my, that HAS to be the LotR universe!" either. I have to be honest, after watching that video, my interest in the game has seriously declined. The whole thing looks majorly bland and uninspirational. But, that's just my opinion of course. Other comments (on the video please)? "(The) Iraqi people owe the American people a huge debt of gratitude." - George W Bush. Oh. My. God.

And take most of them with a grain of salt. There has not been a new video for several months and anything you see up to this point wasn't even in the alpha testing stage. Combat has been sped up considerably among other things. Stop by the forums after you get done wathing all the videos and see what's changed since those were created. Game is amazing and the developers are working very closely with those on the forums and giving us great feedback about what's up and coming. So don't loose hope and see you there. Trust me, it's worth the time.

I can't download it from that Arena source as they don't allow registration of yahoo or aol email addresses! BOO! I looked here: http://lotro.turbine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=548 The GUI shown in the Guardian video is much much better than what we have in Turbine's DDO game. It is more minimal, smoother-looking and I like how the party member names are shown. I also like how descriptive words flash up during combat: MISS, EVADE, BLOCK, PARRY. Dungeons & Dragons Online does not have this kind of feedback.

I think they've done a really good job with there videos. Even with all the cutting of scenes and such, it gives you a good sense of the game in little time and lets you pick out a bunch of things with the GUI and such. Once again, props to Turbine, they're doing a fantastic job.

Is good to hear the combat is being sped up, as from the video I linked, that's the one glaring oddity for me. The combat just seems so slow and repetitive. Here's hoping for an awesome release. Hmm there was a link on their main forums to a movie released on gamershell.com. It looks good but they just closed the thread in the lotro forums stating that this movie does not represent the current state of development and was never intended for public release.... makes us wonder what they changed or not.

xas_ Novice Member Joined: 7/31/06 Posts: 33	8/04/06 6:42:30 PM#11 Report this post Explain why you are reporting this post: (750 characters max.) i wasnt to impressed with the video at all, i thought the PvE in this game was suppose to be new, unique and almost evolutionary to other games pve styles. overall i think it looks the same as an EQ2 or a WoW, specially the skill system. this game will have the same shit... like "rapid fire" come on now how many rapid fires have we already seen as a skill in other games archer classes... thats just an example of how this game says it offers new things but when it comes down to the basic elements of the game like combat it offers nothing new it will have a "talents" system like WoW, the skills and combat wont even feel new ... seriously. as a veteran of MMOs i think im gonna buy this game and probably spend a couple weeks exploring tolkiens world then end up quiting because i already foresee the games feel, being to similuar to previous games i have played. I honestly hope they change thier mind and focus this game on competitve PvP or it will have no End-Game, unless you want to keep lvling up alts through the same content. btw im not just saying this based on this one video, im saying it based on all the videos of seen of E3+ more.

It's all over the place as being new, not just the site listed here. I think someone at Turbine might have made a boo boo.

The graphics on that video were very nice but the action seemed very boring. It does look rather... bland... if you will, but we have to keep in mind that, a) it wasnt meant for release. b) it was about 4 or 5 monthes ago and c) the game just hit it's alpha/beta, things are definitly going to improve.
