Oh Jeff, Jeff, Jeff. You tried to be so clever with your first post. It was kind of fun reading it today and thinking 'hmm, does he really mean SWG? I guess he does, but he can't say that or they'll shut his nadgers in the drawer and let Smed slam it shut...' And it's good to see you work with metaphor. But seriously, even if we accept that you didn't design the thing, you just looked at the plans and answered honestly 'yes it can' when you were sked if it *could* be built, you can't slopey shoulder the burden because you looked at the idea, you agreed to do the job and, in your own words, you were the guy whose job it was to say 'yes we can do this'. Really, you should have asked "SHOULD" we do this. Like I said in another place, it's as if you were called in by the designer to look at the plans for this big mad looking house and he said to you, as a foreman builder, "Can it be built" and you looked and figured it was all just a case of cutting the timber to length and making the right joints and said "Yeah, it could be built". But you really, really, really should have said "But it looks fugly and the neighbours just aren't going to like it". One way or another you chose not to say that and just got on with building it. Now the designer and the builder and the other guy are having a bit of a public cat fight over who was most to blame. Ugly. ********************* |

The whole thing brings to mind the picture of a bunch of roaches scurrying for cover when the light is turned on in the middle of the night......(the aforementioned vision is purely hypothetical, I in no way have a house full of roaches, nor have I designed a house that would accomadate said roaches, built said house, in anyway approved of the building of the house, no matter how fun it would be to live with a bunch of scurrying roaches I have had nothing to do with the theoretical house, unless of course other people want a house of roaches.....No? Oh, yeah like I said, I had nothing to do with it.) damn, was that the longest parentheses of all time? Tis sad because the NGE isn't a bad idea. An fps mmo based on star wars that is tighter with stronger content for professions and stronger gcw base isn't a bad concept. The implimentation and rushed nature of the nge is a disaster on the scale of the titantic. If I was to place blame for the nge's failure it would be on the rushed nature of the system. Oh well it appears to little to late for soe. Just remember I pointed that out to you about the cu and the nge. NOT READY FOR RELEASE. That phrase is key. If you feel something is ready say so. I have learned that alot in IT. |

OMG OMG OMG The saddest thing is that SOE, like roaches, may be the only thing to survive a nuclear war. This is evidenced by their apparent survival of the greatest calamity of all time.......surely, I dont have to say it.....allright, allright, obviously im referring to the NGE....there are you happy? ......typing that took a year off my already shortened life, so I hope you enjoyed it....Oh, and fuck NGE and fuck SOE, and fuck anyone who stands up for that crap....(and I dont mean fuck in the good way)...... Actually, IT is one of the few areas where you can push out incomplete stuff your entire lifetime and not think twice about it. Medical profession (made up): - Yea, we removed the spleen, we'll sew this poor sob together next week - Oh, his skull is cracked open? Yea, give him 2 aspirins, book him in 12 weeks Engineering (non-software, made up) - Yea, the plane is almost complete, but engines are working so-so. Just sign it off. - Our new super-tanker is great. Only the tanks are still leaking, but dirt will close those openings - We're currently building a 5000 people residential complex. But we're lacking reinforced concrete and rebar, so we're using wet clay and bamboo sticks - What do you mean toaster isn't grounded? Patch the ground wire to the metal casing. Software and IT (this is what it really looks like): - Daily backups? Sorry, after paying Oracle $250,000 for 3 software licenses, we can't afford to buy 20 tapes for $49.99 each - Yes, we use automated testing. All of our software is compiled daily. - You lost a year's worth of data? Unfortunately, this is a known problem with our product. We expect that to be fixed in upcoming release - 1294 unresolved bug reports? Did we meet the dead-line on features? We did? Ship it. - You want us to change the icon of the application? This will cost you $58,800 and will be delivered in 7 weeks. - Your central air-traffic control system is exhibiting issues? That's a known problem with Microsoft Windows, make sure to reboot the computer at least once a week (this one is real, from LAX I think) - What do you mean the $1 bil oil platform sank? We used computers to design it. (real as well, after the engineers failed to acknowledge a rounding error in their software) No industry is as tolerant of crap as IT. |

Oh my GOD this is a hoot. There's no reason I should find it on page two.
Denial's not a river in Egypt, Jeff. You championed the nge, now you're saying it wasn't YOUR idea. Come on man.. grow some stones and man up. Shayde - SWG (dead)

Why is brenlo's post getting so much more play than this? To me, the creator of the NGE denying his involvement is a bigger story..... /shrug

The "Man" ,may have pushed approved of the crud for Novemeber but as it has been stated the player base was all forgotten about for those players "over there"
I wonder if he will put swg designer on his resume? If any of them will? If all are so quick to deny who did what then where does that leave nge? another turn around slated? |
