Its looking pretty bad now and I know they have always been fighting but the level of hate seems to be at it highest ever. Israel feels threatend and is defending their land but also the Palestinians feel opressed and groups like Hamas and Hezbollah think they are defending their rights and religion. This scenario doesnt make for much negotiating and to make matters worse Iran and Syria have their hands directly in the situation supplying rockets, money and terrorists. Israel is also using very harsh measures that ultimatley kill inocent civillians as well so this tit-for-tat escalation ov violence seems to be spiraling and explanding and the fact Iraq is at an almost civil war with US troops still under heavy presure there. The whole region has a great chance to plunge into chaos sooner than we can imagine and that will cause the whole world to take sides and also influence other rouge/terrorist nations like North Korea and various terrorist camps/bases to cause trouble. I just dont see this one ending well and hopefully I am dead wrong but the sheer stuborness of people amazes me. I also hope the UN wakes up and actualy does what its suposed to do and prevent wars! |

Without getting into that rambling anti-american gibberish that usually happens on the Net, the UN motioned to condemn Israels attacks but the US vetoed it since the motion, as they put it, focused only on what Israel is doing. From Reuters: Ten of the council's 15 member-nations voted in favor of the resolution, while the United States cast the sole "no" vote. Four countries abstained -- Britain, Denmark, Peru and Slovakia. I don't see how this whole production can get any better. I don't see a right and wrong in this escalation, just the wrong and innocent victims (on both sides). Too bad they can't split both sides into two groups: ones who are bound and determined to kill each other and those who just want to live their lives and don't care about politics. Edit: Was Reuters, not the AP. |

problem is isreal its that simple they are two heavy handed and that brings more terrorism everyone needs to tell them to back off most of all the USA needs to tell them to backoff while i dont agree at all with the kidnapping of the solders killing 50+ civillions is out of order also cutting off civillion suplys is wrong and against the law as for WWIII I've come to the conclusion that its being planed as we speak, with the inpending oil shortage and china wanting to be a superpower i see the middle east as a toy of the USA and China to fight about north korea is funded by china and china wont tell them to leave the missile test alone. why, because it wants war its the only way to become "top dog" Tin Foil hats dont work.. its all a conspiracy |

Alright since the time of Jesus or if you prefer "the bible days", they have been fighting each other like crazy! the war now still has not stopped *suprise!* and is affecting everyones thinking of whats going to happen next. before peace there must war that is the way of the humans. If we try to end this peacefully, it will only provoke them and wage a full scale war all over the world like WW1 and WW2. only after the war will there be peace but there is truly no peace as long as we're on earth. |

The whole discussion of the war is the biggest topic ever. Ok, look, Bush sent our troops into unknown territory he took the Iraqi leader -big mistake- and now started a war with the invasion. I doubt there will seriously be a WWIII but it is looking pretty grave. About the nukes: No. We won't ever send nukes because that will trigger the biggest, and only, nuclear warfare our lives will live to see. Trust me, Russia is just waiting for an excuse to nuke someone. I do hope to expect everyone's troops out of Iraq here in a couple years after Bush's term is over. Here's the scary part. Did you know Bush can run again? He wasn't elected 2 terms. He was appointed to his first! I doubt anyone will vote for him now that he screwed our nation over. But yeah, the war won't end anytime soon but it won't cause a WWIII. |

The whole region has basically been in a state of perpetual war for thousands upon thousands of years. I say either let em fight it out (as long as they keep it in their own yard), or turn the whole place into a big sheet of glass. 2 nights ago, when israel first bombeb Beirut's airport, I saw the news headline and it send this deep shiver of fear down my spine... I just though, "alright, here comes the declaration of war from Lebanon anytime now..."
From then on I just thought all hell would break loose and WW3 would seriously not be a far-fetched worry. I was already considering buying a plane ticket out of here.... I dunno what to think of these people anymore, both sides behave like selfish children. I wish I could just slap them both, take all their toys away and send them off to each other's room -virtual tourist |

That was the mistake. my friend, you are so wrong that you are blinded. I feel sorry for anybody that dosn't have any type of faith be it, neo pagan, buddist, or catholic. as for you, i feel sorry for you, cause without some type of faith your a shell and a pawn. The islamic faith is big. infact one scumbag can take out 100 to 1000 people with a right placed dirty bomb, or suicide, bomb. I'm going to explain something. The Islamic world hates you and me. They hate us even more cause were not muslims. This is not me being paranoid or anything, it's fact. The reason is getting so much flak is because they are 2 things. Jewish and Democratic. That's why. And you got f*ck stanins like Iran, Syria, Hamas and the rest of the Muslims and muslim terrorist that just want to kill. Kill anything and everything, why, they have the RIGHT to kill you and me, according to the their religion, anybody and everybody that doesn't follow the Islamic faith is a infidel. so ask your self this question, would you rather be forced to be a muslim, or being beheaded for refusing? As a conculsion, I hope Israel, destorys them, wheres there's nothing left but a smoldering pot hole. makes me sick that most people goes *Whine* *Whine* It's Israel's fault cause of this *whine* *whine* or *Cry* *Cry* Israel that *Cry* *Cry* As for North Korea and China. Kim Jung-Il is insane. He wants war. He claims he can capture Souel in 2 hours. He has Chemical and Bio Weapons, he will use them if he goes to war, which he wants. I rather not see the Forgotten War start up again (Korean War - and yes, the war is still going on, it's a a cease fire ATM 50+ years and growing) If China wants to prove themselves to the worthless UN, they can step up to the plate and tell Kim Jung-Il to cease what he is doing, or They are going to do something. If WW3 was to break out it would either break out in in Middle East. North korea would Aid whome ever the Axis is. |

Mort Kondracke said just a while ago that this is Iran's proxy war with Israel. They are using this as a diversionary tactic. And that America is so busy with Iraq that we can't do anything about it. And since Israel is busy with Lebanon now, they are going to ignore Iran.
So, he said, Iran is winning. |

yea all our worries are at the israel and philistines wen we have bigger problems.. nukes. Like in the previous posts, America has a few enemies just waiting for the right time. Canada i dunno about cuz we're with the united nation and is a peaceful country. even though canada wants to help i harldy think they could do anything. If America gets nuked, Canada will get their slice of the pie too therfore b**** slaping the UN the do something. Of course at first they try to make this a peaceful thing but after a while, WW3 will be triggered/. i hope not though. |

I watched t.v. today so don't have a link but the stance of Israel supported by Bush is something to the effect of "We will stop when Hezbollah disarms". I am deeply dissapointed by this, you might as well say "we will stop when the grass is blue and the sky is green" it isn't going to happen, talk about painting yourself into a corner *sigh* That is the kind of 3rd rate diplomacy I expect from N.Korea, why the pretence that you want peace? Just be honest and say we are going to kill loads of civilians and we can't see us stopping any time soon. No wonder democracy isn't particularly sought after in the middle East when democratic countries are actively seeking war. This could escalate into something very nasty, I hope Blair and the other world leaders speak up at the G8 and condemn this. Edit: I can't spell |

I'm actually in Jerusalem right this second, and I can tell you the mood here is pretty calm. The Israelies aren't worried, mainly because they've been seeing this kinda thing for the past 60 years, it's nothing new. It won't be the start of WW3, it won't even be the start of a war, it's simply a small chance for Israel's neighbours to express their hatred for the country, they all basically seem to be 'jumping on the band wagon'. There isn't much anyone can do to fight Israel, it's an extremely powerful country (by far the most powerful in the mid-east) and to top that it's one of the only countries in the east to be backed by america and it's allies. This will only last for a month, at the most, before the idiots firing rockets into israel realise their efforts are pretty much futile, and will only result in the loss of lives in THEIR countries, not israel. |
