I must admit that one of my major niggles with this game is the air transport, especially as you get to the higher levels and need to move around a lot. It is particularly bad on Kalimdor, with some journeys within the continent taking longer than using two ships instead to go from Darkshore to Wetlands and back to Dustwallow marsh again. It would be great if they could either get the Hippogryphs (biggest culprits) to either fly in a straight line (as much as possible) or incorporate something similar to the ship system, where you just see the start and end of the journey. It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays. |

unfortunately alot of people like the view on the ride over... there's alot of things people like seeing along the ride over. Personally what i think they should do is give the player a choice of either taking the scenic route or the fastest route.

I must agree with the last post, a choice would be better thing, maybe another option in the interface menu or something similar. There is a great WOW factor (excuse the pun) in the rides and the do reveal certain areas of interest, but there are only so many times that you can see them. By the time you have reached L60 you have probably done the SW - IF ride a few hundred times (unless you are a train junkie), so you just tend to use that time to make a cuppa or clean your fingernails (you get the idea). It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays. |

Yes, saddly travel times are one of the few annoying elements of the game that you can't skip. It can take half an hour just to join a mate in another zone to play together. i can understand why they like the immersion element of travel taking time, and that for PvP it prevents the instant reaction of the opposite side to a raid on a specific location, but lets face it, it's just more of a general anoyance than a positive element of the game. At least you're immune to danage while traveling, so you can go & make a cup of tea or whatever. Eve was bloody irritating in that regard. The race doesn't always go to the swiftest, nor the battle to the strongest, but that's the way to bet. |

They're Probably not going to do that. One of the CMs over on the blizzard forums said something to the effect of "It would make the world feel smaller" |

Heh. The trick from a design standpoint is to waste as much time as possible so that people will play the game longer. In addition, a designer will want to find as many ways for the environment to suck back money from you - to curb inflation. What could be better than costly air transport that sucks up your time? So the question is this: is it enough to make you cancel your account, or a mere inconvenience? If it is the latter, then it is Working as intended. |

I must agree with the poster above - it would be great to be able to make instant travel... and option next to the instant quest text would be just great... on the other hand, being a mage I don't mind that TOO much :p I have a way of popping around the realm ;) |

There is instant travel.
portals, warlock summons, heartstones, engeneer teleporters, etc... Is that not enough? Maybe something like mage portals closer to instances or warlock mass summons (where you could summon 10 or 20 people at once... maybe with 3 warlocks + 3 helpers and every lock would use 2 shards) would be cool, but it's really no problem to travel as it is. |

Not sure what you guys are complaining about, but traveling is part of all games.
I remember back in SWG, all Bounty Hunter were complaining about the time shuttle (10Min) and they change it to 5 min after to 1 min. But it was a good time to talk to people, recruit for team or guild. Like someone said, it prevent people to instantly appear in a town to protect from a raid, makes it more realistic. But maybe we can keep complain and make sure the Dev will realise that make no sense to travel that much. I have an idea, let complain about how long it takes to get to a quest after you accept it. Maybe when you clic accept, you get teleport right beside the quest, it would be faster, don't you think. Maybe the world is too big for you and you can't stand the waste of time, but it is realistic. You don't like it, play Tetris, it fit on one screen. But if you know how to play the game, you will get a mount, a warlock and all the other tool available in that game to make your travel faster. But stop complaining about it, because we don't want Blizzard to change the way travel works. BTW: I pretty sure that they didn't do it like that to make more money because you spend more time travelling. Get a life you freaking Gamer.....no no, you don't understand, I'm a Gamer, I have many lives!! |
