Dont think this game will ever even come close to getting a release date. Looks like vaporware to me.

People are obsessed with being the first to call something vapourware these days, after all the messing about with Dark and Light, what do you base this on? seems to me that hte website is updated regually, lots of dev input and lots of new screens, unlike DnL which used to rehash the same screens month after month.  Now we see Settlers of Garnath from DnL the vapourware shouters became quiet.  However I suspect it wont be long until we hear them all again as the main game release date approaches (by the way I dont and have never played DnL, its an example)

The devs have the core mechanics finished they are now just polishing up the game for release. One key factor in its release will be if they decide to put avatar combat in before or after r1. If its after could see a release this year, if before might be early 07.

So I won't be sinking you in this vaporware game when it comes out? How dissapointing.

The game is coming along fine. Their viral marketing plan seems to be doing well.

Even sandboxes have fundamental rules such as; "Don't eat the cat poop, you'll die."

To win or lose it all.

Talk about an over-used phrase and my first thought would be the term vaporware.  When we were talking about a virtual reality system that would allow an infantrymen to operate fully immersed in a Military Operation in Urban Terrain (MOUT), that turned out to be vaporware.

Pirates of the Burning Sea is an MMORPG.  People have been building them for years and years.  We have already seen the ships moving through the environment.  We have already seen detailed screen shots.  I would say the chances of this game not seeing daylight approaches zero.

Now, I personally worried about the depth of play in the game.  I worried about having a bad simulation.  However, the work I've seen coming out of FLS has put some of my fears to rest.  I think the work on the new economy sounds very promising.

I think this software exists.  I think they have a playable game.  I think they will release a good game without too many bugs when they are good an ready.
