"Rome wasn't coded in a day" |
As I have said in the past, we will not release an unfinished game. KFR recently posted a thread on the official RV boards: http://www.roma-victor.com/community/bb/viewtopic.php?t=8575 "As you all know, launch was scheduled for the Ides of March, available exclusively to Preorder customers, with everyone else being let in two weeks later on the Kalends of April. I've recently been going through all the outstanding technical, content and administrative issues that we still face and I've had to make a difficult decision. The launch will be postponed. I can not offer a finalised new launch date as of yet since we still have to discuss the matter with some of our partners, but my own personal expectation is that the launch will be postponed by no more than three months. As soon as I have those precise dates I'll post back here and have all the various web pages updated. With that in mind testers and existing Preorder customers should begin to see the last of the significant feature sets to be implemented on the Gamma server during the next two or three weeks. I know many of you will receive this news with mixed emotions since, like me, you're keen to see RV finished, but at the same time you want to make sure that the RV experience is richly featured, well balanced and rewarding for both its players and its developers! ;-) Be assured that I haven't taken the decision lightly and that I've factored in as many perspectives as possible. As I'm sure you can imagine, developing something like Roma Victor is an expensive proposition and every additional month we drag it out, comes with a painful cost. Frankly, a small, independent developer like us has a hard time coping with these kinds of challenges but given our history, and the support of this community, we simply must rise to the challenge. So thanks again for the support. I'll let you know some more final dates as soon as I have them." -KFR "Rome wasn't coded in a day" |

If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. |

I'm glad. These devs are alot better than most. Not trying to rush out an unfinished game. :P |

I'm very glad they are going to wait to release it when they deem it ready. Much rather have a finished game than a nearly finished one. |

Finally a Dev who comes here to say whats really going on...I am amazed...I have played SWG for over 2 years and have not seen a dev devoted enough to give it to us straight with the exception of the Spacetime guys who no longer work with SOE I might add... Have not been following RV too much but was thinking about getting into it due to some friends touting it as the next big thing...I am a patient person so I am happy to hear they want to have a finished product to come out with instead of a SOE Product... I thank you for that...even if RV does not become my next favorite MMO I do Respect this company for its devotion to the players... We have enough Youth, How about a Fountain of Intelligence? |

As I said in my preview for RV on this website, These are the best devs I've ever had the pleasure of working with. They have nothing to hide and are always honest with the testers. I know it sounds annoyingly fanboish, however It comes from the experience of 30 beta tests over the past 10 years. The main game I have always followed, was Darkfall... and they treat the community like we dont exist, compared to that the RV devs are on the opposite side of the scale.

Thanks. I think any fan/player who is worth anything for Roma Victor is happy with your decision of releasing the game later. We all hate unfinished games. We want devs to develope the game with not only an eye for making money, but also for creating a great game. You seem to be following that. =========================================================== |

I would also much rather wait for a game to be finished then be able to play an unfinished game sooner, I have good faith in Roma Victors dev team. They seem to be very involved with their first mmo and are trying very hard it seems to get it right before release which I must /salute!

postponed 1 week, postponed 1 month - makes no difference to me. I'll still purchase RV and at the same time feeling much better that they got the balls to postpone it instead of releasing a buggy product. More power to postponers!!!

I can wait as long as it takes to get a mmorpg that is well thought out and not rushed and buggy etc. Fixing a game after release is what really narks the player base off, because some of the player base will always be disadvantaged by the tweaks and changes, and they always complain, it is hard to be understanding if you have grown attached to your character and are facing a nerf. I too appreciate a development team that keeps the communication channels open and honest. |

The preorders will start playing right about when my school year ends, maybe a few days before :) So I'll have loads of time to play the game, and we all know the beginning is especially important, even more in RV. I'll just have to skip the final school day because I'll be hammered. Now I regret not getting hammered the final day last year :( |

Sucker! *rolls around in his pile of money* There are very few pre-orders left so if anyone else wants to take advantage and get into the 2 week pre-release you've still got the chance. "Rome wasn't coded in a day" |
