no the game is not worth buying and in world of warcraft any boss below 300mil only takes like 5mins to kill with the correct team so a wow raid is only like 30-50mins

And archeage is polished.

WoW was a complete disaster at release.

And ArcheAge has been out since Jan 2013.  Is this guy really comparing games that have been out for years to a game that just released?  smh

Look on the bright side, if WoW released tomorrow like it did back then, it would have been boiled in oil just like every other game out there.  Reality is, WoW survived... ESO on the other hand, is still being boiled.

On that note, anyone who was considering ESO would have already tried it by now... if they haven't yet, they either aren't going to or are waiting until it's either F2P or no longer a subscription model.

ESO is still selling around 6k physical boxes per week, and most likely 2-3 times that in digital downloads. You might be waiting awhile if you are waiting  for them to give away 360k+ per week

In my mind, no, it isn't. If I could go back in time and stop myself from buying it I would. The game failed to make a good first impression on me after launch. I kept complaining through beta about bugs, kept hearing they will be fixed by launch, and they were not. The constant issues there, people duplicating items, and other factors that destroyed the economy just made it horrible.

Sure, it's better now, but this is the first mmo I put down and didn't pick back up again after just one and a half weeks of playing. Which is sad when this is also the first mmo I played while having a real job. So I was playing at most an hour a day for that week. It may be better now, but even with me expecting it to be different it still fell way to flat for me to enjoy it.

ESO = a rushed buggy game that has horrible management.

its not worth the box price or a sub.

I was stoked for it in beta, then I saw how crappy it released and how even worse it was managed.  I thought it was going to be a PvP game and PvP is the last on their list/, which is kinda ironic because the PvE is horrible.

craiglorn, the big expansion zone they released is lol bad, they didnt even bother to try switching mobs up in the dungeons, its basically the same things over and over.

The PvP design is lol bad,  4 classes and the sorc can basically exit pvp combat any time they feel with a teleport spell = 80% of the PvPers are sorcs.  People been complaining of this since release and they still have not fixed it, they patched it but it was useless as it is a get out of PvP skill any time a sorc chooses.

If you like to throw away money then go for it, otherwise I would wait for it to go F2P, and that cant be far off since the management and design team really have zero clue what they hell they are doing.  even if this was F2P i doubt most people would stay with the game over a month or two.

oh and lest not even mention the hackable client and all the spam they have zero clue how to deal with, I never been spammed so much in any game.  All though even by now I bet even the spammers quit this steaming pile of dog crap.  Google the hacks in the game and see if this is the kind of PvP game you want to play.

^

Pretty much this, I would also say if it was B2P with a cash shop like GW2 I would play it in a heartbeat.

I don't comment on posts that revolve around questions like "is it worth buying or not" or "is it dying or not" but in this case I just wanted to leave a quick testimonial regarding The Elder Scrolls Online.

I'm not a hardcore gamer,  I play casually due to work and other day to day activities. So with that in mind, I am not a fanboy of any games out there, I just enjoy playing the games that provide me with a certain level of fun in the free time I have. And I personally think this game does just that. From the unbelievable visuals to the amazing sound fx and score, this is probably the best looking and sounding mmorpg from the ones I've seen so far. It is just beautiful. Gameplay is very fun, and I like the combat mechanics... it may be simple (dodging, defending, interrupting etc) but to me it feels engaging. In terms of content, and I'm only level 23 so I can't discuss endgame stuff,  the game can be dificult sometimes, but not that much, personally I think  it tests the casual player's skill level with decent challenges; it might be easy for hardcore gamers though. The storyline is great, I watch everything and listen to every dialog and try to understand what led me to that point in time and what could happen next.

In relation to equipment, armors look really nice, but weapons could be better... I mean all my bows look the same (so far), but the general art style and landscapes provide an amazing sense of immersion. Leveling is not a grindfest and it  feels like it scales proportinally in terms of exp and time. So it is not bad.  You can level solely by questing and killing some extra mobs along the way, and that makes you actually enjoy your character's progression. There are a few bugs here and there with some quests and the famous "unkown error ocurred" message that many players get. But the content so far seems to be ok. Customer support has also been ok so far (I contacted them twice and got a reply in about 20 minutes) I have read some complaints about it as well though, but I guess if you're polite and patient, you'll have your issue sorted.

I haven't done much pvp, but it seems fun and dynamic. You can play solo, or in small groups or take part in sieges and also quest in open pvp territory as well... looking forward to that.

Finally, you do need a good graphics card to fully enjoy the game in high settings, so that is something to consider as well.

That's it, this was just my honest personal opinion on a few things related to The Elder Scrolls Online. As you've probably noticed, it wasn't an expert's review or anything like that since I don't consider myself one. And Just like many people out there, I read tons of comments and reviews and watched many videos before buying the game. Some saying/showing good stuff and others destroying it completely. They all seemed a little too extreme both ways... so I decided to try it out for myself, and just play it without comparing it to anything else.

My conclusion so far is if you can afford it buy it, it is a very good game for casual players that want to play something online that looks amazing, plays well and have a decent amount of players. It is not in any way dying... I always see lots of people running around no matter where I am, so that says something about the game's population.

I do understand this game is not for the extremely hardcore people out there and it won't please everyone, but in my case, I decided to give it an honest chance and I'm really enjoying it so far. Maybe you will too... Hope this helped!

The game is pretty bland. I'd wait a while for more content, as well as improved end-game as is in the works. The new dye system looks pretty cool, though (my sub expired so not gonna be checking into it.)

Is the game worth buying? YES

Is the game for everyone? NO

Is the game for people who skip quest texts to get to the endgame quick? NO

Is the game for people who love a good story? YES

Is the game for people who like exploring a game world (really exploring, not only for achievements)? YES

Is the game for people who love to craft in a MMO? YES

Is the game for people who enjoy freedom in shaping their characters? YES

Is the game for everyone? NO

We had this before, yes, but it is vital. ESO is not WoW. If you love WoW there is a good chance, you won't like ESO. Personally I can't stand WoW (never did) and I really enjoy ESO (as I did with several other MMOs like EQ2, Lotro, GW2 etc.)

Go figure.

As to the OP, I find myself in the position of observing and waiting.  I'd like to see the Imperial City opened up, as I was always a huge fan of Darkness Falls.  I am also allowing the game to mature for a bit more.  It's new, and there are still some growing pains that need to be worked out.  I see myself playing ESO, just not right now.

So you whine about people who whine about the game isn't worth what it cost mthnly, and yet you are not currently playing the game and paying Xenimax money either...

Lots of creditability in that opinion right there, lol

yes it is.

but perhaps my perception of value for money is off as i dont really worry about it.

as usual its all based on personal pref and taste. out and out hate from above posts is only the sharing of each person's views (fair to say most spat the dummy at the first thing they didnt like and moved on). and the haters ALWAYS post more than the players when they have decided to condemn something. take a look at gameplay yourself. only you can decide.

but since only haters and a few fans and even fewer people actually deciding if or if not to buy the game dwell here, all posts and even reviews are pointless.

Vertor et revertor.

4 months and they just announce the revamp of veteran content, when it was boring and made no sense since launch. Bugs aside, I enjoyed the ride 1-50, the quests were cool, the storyline missions weren't just slaughter (more the opposite) and there was some progress in character as well.

VR1+: doing other faction's quests which you probably don't care about, you need to complete whole 1,5 zone to get to next VR and no new skills really open up and in the end, you are just bored. Yet you have to trek through this mud to be able to do Craglorn.

Then you find out that VR10 gear is missing textures or is just plain ugly, let alone there are only few set bonuses that actually help.

It might be good buy after the VR1+ content is revamped, as it is now, it's not.

Disagree.

Is the game for everyone? NO

Agree.

Is the game for people who skip quest texts to get to the endgame quick? NO

Agree.

Is the game for people who love a good story? YES

Disagree. The story was well written in parts, terribly written in others (and often hackneyed and boring). Overall it's OK but not great.

Is the game for people who like exploring a game world (really exploring, not only for achievements)? YES

Strongly disagree. Exploring is limited with level-set quest chains and zones, and considerably inferior the single player games. Note that this is a very common observation, so not just this reporters opinion.

Is the game for people who love to craft in a MMO? YES

Semi-agree. Crafting was OK. Nothing groundbreaking. The big problem is most of the specs you could apply to an item were mostly useless, and this was particularly compounded by the poor item and class balance in the game.

Is the game for people who enjoy freedom in shaping their characters? YES

Strongly disagree. Again, close to broken class balances. But even if the class balance wasn't poorly done, the ability to shape your char is, again, considerably inferior to the single player games, and on-par with many MMO's.

Is the game for everyone? NO

Agree.

Perhaps. I'd say if you're willing to overlook the fairly considerable flaws (some of which I've mentioned above), you may enjoy ESO. It's an average MMO that gets a few things fairly right and a few fairly wrong.

Go figure.

Indeed.

I am sometimes happy that not every game is for everyone. I like this game, it's a nice game to play with my husband at a casual pace. Although we started this game at headstart, we're still leveling. I love the storytelling, but you can only experience the storytelling when you don't skip the conversations. Surely this game has some drawbacks,  there is no auction house and I don't particularly like crafting. Fishing is a complete useless profession in this game. The views are great though, you can really explore and not every detail of this game reveals itself with a questmarker.

I do play Wildstar on the other hand, which is funny and fast paced. For me 2014 at least had a few nice games in store.

You only have to see the players online and be in a guild to know it is worth buying. The content locusts have moved on, thank the divines, but they still find time to post against TESO. When will the MMO community learn you can never please a locust?

Oh and do I need to learn how to use my red colouring pencil as well? :)

I play the game and  enjoy it a lot, the only major bug I had has been fixed and doesn't cause and issue now.

Just started the veteran pve side of things and I can safely say I still have that alliance pride as some of my choices in the quests are not that beneficial to the enemy alliance. I RP my characters and the choices I make in the game are tainted by their own persona.

Going onto RP'ing I know of the EU server in the Ebonheart we have a strong RP community and its growing by the day.

The game world is open to explore and I have seen low level players riding through level 40-50 areas just exploring the game world.

If you are looking for good pvp in a open arena where you can make your mark, and you like exploring and learning about the world you game in with a strong community spirit then ESO is for you. If you are looking for that next raid then stick with WoW or Wildstar.

Oh and do I need to learn how to use my red colouring pencil as well? :)

It's easier to marginalise a fairly stated viewpoint using negative labels, rather than a thoughtful rebuttal. Fairly typical behaviour though, unfortunately.

BTW, I think crayon would be more your style. :-)

For those who don't like to read much - Absolutely NO, do not spend your money on that game.

I am veteran player in ESO since January. I reached VR12, I played in Cyrodill, I played veteran dungeons, I was crafter, so I tried pretty much everything out there. The game has major gameplay flaws, terrible social and trading mechanics, lack of fun and socialization in the PvP.

The only good thing in the game was going through the PvE content from level 1 to level 50. The veteran content is nightmare - slow progression, repetitive play, terrible and boring.

The interface, social mechanics and trade are the worst I have seen in all MMOs I have played in the past 15 years, just to list the more popular ones - EQ, AoC, EVE, Tabula Rasa, EQ2, Ultima Online, GW 1 and 2, Rift, Neverwinter, WoW and so on

I canceled my account and stopped playing for good.
