You played what? 10 levels? I'm sorry but you don't have a clue on what you're saying.

I agree with him and have yet to reach level 10. I however pay for a complete product, not from level x onward. So I want the whole product to be entertaining.

The game is entertaining 1-50. The thing is people expect something new. When everything has been done before so their isnt much in the way of new to begin with.

What you WILL get is the complete experience of great features from different games combined into one game.

If your finding combat boring, you are obviously not looking for challenge, If your doing quests 2 or 3 levels below you, thats not the games fault, thats you. Mobs your level or higher are not push overs. The quest system will provide you with group oriented content as well. Promoting teamwork early in the game. Along side with public events as early as level 10 that require 5 to 20 people ot complete, and even then, it may not NEED 20 men, you could do it with 10 if your watching for telegraphs and not dying constantly, it just might take longer, but at least the loot that drops comes as you fight, and not at the end, so that way you are rewarded for at least trying. Adventures at 15 are a nice change of pace, almost like a quest chain for a group of 5 people but plays out like a dungeon. And on top of that you have challenging dungeons and raids that require everyone to work together instead of just standing in place doing tank and spank which gets boring.

I could go on and on and on about all the other features i have yet to name, PVP, housing, paths, and what each of those provide so your not playing by yourself which most people tend to do low levels. But if your only going to level 10 and not even experiencing any of this yet, then im sorry.

But we'll respect your opinion, Just sad to see someone give up so easily just because they didnt play for a good amount of time to experience any of it.

Gamers this day and age...they sadden me sometimes.

Why would someone play through hours of boring content to reach enjoyable content, that defeats the purpose of playing a video game, to have fun.

Well boring content, the start is hard to make fun, since you cant just be level 1, with all 30 skills, and be assigning points, and have all the features of your character development, then you have nothing to achieve.

I do agree tho that they could put more effort for lower levels, but I guess since you spend 2 hours out of thousands of hours of play between levels 1-10 they don't see the point in it.

Well he has a valid point. There are a lot (more and more with time) of people tired of this same exact gameplay. Judging by server population (9x low) it seems that not many people are in for a trial either. I did 12 levels today and while game seems well done overall  I felt borred both questing and doing battlegrounds, enaugh to now call it quits. And I had no fps problems either and only experienced 2 small bugs, I've seen other complain a lot about these. Dunno about later content but if it's same quality and enaugh quantity  than this game should be fine.

Level 10??? I could not play it to see level 2 and you don't need certain level to judge if you like a game or not.

I was going to accept that you just have a different opinion on what's fun and what's not than mine. Then I saw that line. Then you lost all your credibility.

My opinion is my own. I respect all other opinions and views equally, but keep in mind that my opinion will always be the best for me. That's why it's my opinion.

If people don't have the skill or want to read and enjoy lore as part of questing then it does not matter what game it is, they will find a mmorg boring and samey. Time to move to a new genre, as virtual worlds need story to give it depth.

rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW (1000 hrs on main mage)> oblivion > LOTR (480 Hunter) > Rift (230 hours mage) > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(900 elementalist), Wildstar

Now playing GW2, AOW 3

The starter ship is pretty boring. But the first zone was kinda crazy fun for me. I only got lvl 8 and had a blast. The game won me over, I hated it the first time I played but kept trying because I did love the humor and the art direction.

Okay, sure the game doesn't re-invent the wheel here, but I am unsure, what you or people like you are expecting. As questing goes, they will always fall into same old catagories. Now, the game is entertaining but personally its around the level 7 mark when you get to the main hubs where you see it all take place. I found a lot of enjoyment with time trials/platforming and bounty quests. The game has quite a bit of variation.

So... what were YOU expecting?

Really? In UO I had access to ALL, I repeat ALL skills right away. I just wasn't good at any. I also didn't have ANY quests to do.

Ummm i am sorry knock on GW2 all you want but holy crap the entire leveling to 80 was a joy (first time through) and they unlike WS have a starter area for each race.

You freaking kill gigantor mobs that look like raid bosses int he first 2 levels of the game.... sure they are pushover mobs but the awe they inspired the first time you played the game was amazing.

I understand that GW2 was not everyones favorite game, but there was plenty of intriguing quests, the personal story (first time through) was so much fun ! FUN...  WS is not FUN at the beginning...  its drab and dull and mediocre at best.

How in the world does Carbine expect to retain players when most want to pull out there hair before level 10 even ?

They don't see the point ?  Here is the point, you put tons of effort in the first 10 levels because players who are testing it, trying it out, whatever, if they are bored before those 10 levels are up ,.....  they are not gonna buy it or even sub for it after the first 30 days.

I enjoyed the 1-10 experience on both sides, I do think the Dominion was a little more fun, but they were both enjoyable. I think some folks are just so jaded. They lose total credibility when they try to say ESO or FF are better IMHO, those games are like watching paint dry. So in other words different strokes for different folks. You will never please everyone with a single game. You can't even get everyone to admit when a horrible game is horrible, I am sure ET on Atari had at least a handful of hardcore fans... I mean just look at all the ESO fans.

I would like to give an opinion on this post, but if I agree I will offend people who disagree. While if I disagree my comment will be seen as inflammatory. Either way I will get banned by this site full of the most delicate flowers in online gaming. Ban people for giving honest opinions... beautiful. Unfortunately I still like the articles.

Picture this... you log into the game.  No one else but other players in the game world.  Literally.  No buildings, no NPCs, just you, your fellow players, what little clothing you have on your back and a stick (blunt).

The only way to acquire something is to make it yourself or kill someone and take theirs.  If you want faster travel, you're going to have to build it yourself or tame some animal.  These skills are not taught, you must learn them by doing.   For example, to fish, you need to sharpen a stick into a spear with a rock.  You have to find the stick and the rock.  Then you have to skillfully spear a fish in the water.  To cook the fish requires fire.  You need a stick, some kindling of sorts, and some skill.  All things found in the open world.  Once you have a sharpened stick, you can skin animals that you kill.  Skinning allows you to make clothing and bags.  In other words, all the things that you take for granted in MMOs is now something that you will have to learn how to do... like your forefathers had to do.  You won't be able to wield the power of metal until you learn how to smelt and mine for ore.  So in other words, you're not going to be OP any time soon.

You must eat to stay alive.   Be it other players (yes cannibalism) or animals or plants.  You also need water.  You can't carry water until you learn how to make a vessel to carry it.  Remember, others seek the same as you and you can either acquire said items from them or they can from you.  Currency is in the form of whatever players deem tradeable... be it through skills they have to craft, items they have made, or services they can provide (i.e. protection).

First aid is also learned.  You must learn to make bandages out of whatever you can find.  So you can bleed to death if you fail to treat your wounds.  If you are wounded, you will be less mobile, not be able to carry as much, and unable to do certain moves.  Like any wounded animal, you become prey to others when they see you are weak.

Housing is whatever you can find to take shelter in.  Eventually you will craft simple structures and later still more advanced structures.  Again, you will have to learn the skills through game play and acquire the materials necessary to build with.  Keep in mind that mother nature isn't kind and wind storms, floods, wildfires, and earthquakes may destroy what you have crafted if not other players.

This is not your ordinary MMO... the game is survival.  It will take a long time to advance your character.  Oh, by the way, if you are killed, you are indeed dead.  No one is going to magically resurrect you.  That is all part of the game of survival.

Obviously it is total open world PVP.  Best gather your friends and hunt in groups or risk becoming the prey of others.  I wouldn't run into a wolves den if I were you... they will all attack you and will chase you until they kill you.  If that means the entire world, that means the entire world.  Oh and you are subject to fatigue.  No more back flips to kill your enemy as if you had unending energy.  If that weapon you are wielding is twice your size, you won't be able to swing it more than once.  Real world physics folks.  Bigger doesn't mean better unless you can swing it 10 times without passing out from fatigue.

Now this is not the same game again... but I doubt 1/10th of you would even venture to try it.
