Don't fall for this crap, Nan.

There is zero real economic impact at the moment. These economic doom and gloom threads have no substance. They are just predictions of what might happen in a game with the economy out of hand. The reality is that there's nothing in the game you can buy or sell that is showing even the slightest indication of being impacted.

I have seen some vids of the gold sellers and farming bots, and duped items where someone is selling 1000 of a really rare item. There is a problem but its no where near as big as they going on about. ZM can fix this I am sure. I am more interested in the steps they will take. FF14 did a mass ban on many players exploiting and many others had items and money removed from their accounts to balance things lol. I always love watching exploiters come crying on forums when their accounts are closed lol

That of course is not taking into account that iron ingots are worthless after lvl 14, so.... Let me use the motiffs will my wood elf motiff still be worth 700 gold in 6 months.

Let me get this straight.

Youre trying to tell us, that the economy is broken, because in a game which is 3 (!) weeks old the prices are falling as more people are leveling and increasing their we

And to prove a point, youre trying to compare it to a game that is nearly a decade old???

I dont think that i want to discuss this anymore....youre definitely trolling

Lol what ever, my bad your all right. Gold sellers, botters, dupers dont effect the game at all. They have no impact what so ever, and every one can just forget about them, because they dont affect any one. The only reason i brought eve up, is because they figured out how to keep a mmorpg economy going for years. I was hoping ESO had a economy that is the only reason I like to play these games.

I also dont have any faith they will fix it. The last time they tried to ban them, they banned a bunch of the wrong people, and just un banned every one.

I said the gold spammers went from 1k to 10k to now 100k. If you think all that gold isnt gonna effect anything your the one trolling people.

Correct, it will not affect economies on a guild by guild basis. People only trading in general chat may be affected, but the effect is negligible and easily solved by getting into a trading guild with a closed economy.

Thank u for your post,  because this is a nice example why Goldseller's exist in MMO'S. Your Post says enough, it clarify's  the reason why players buy gold.

Players now-days are just to lazy to pick up some easy profession do quests to make / get gold. All needs to be easy and fast for those type of players. Where do they come from hmmm...what MMO especially?..hmmm.

PS: thanks for being honest about your doing, thumbs up.

Is it lazy that he would pay someone to mow his lawn each week so he could spend the day at the beach? He has the resources to eliminate boring aspects of his life so he can spend more time on what he enjoys. We get it, children, students and unemployed play games and have to grind shit out but don't try to turn things into some type of moral stance because you don't have the resources. If I could buy things thru the game to eliminate the things I find boring I would, let's face it they are just there to time sync subs as part of an old business model. If they weren't they would be skilled based rather than time based.

I'm not in my 20s anymore. I can't spend countless hours farming. I'm also impatient. When I want something I just get it. Time is money so if I have excess money why not spend some of it on time.

I might be selfish, but I don't really care how economy is affected from my gold buying. I mean, I'm playing video games for my own entertainment. I don't care how much fun some guy on the other side of the world have playing it. Or not.

(Note this is for my personal experience. Your experience may vary.)

I still wouldn't classify the economy as broken. In fact, I don't think it is breakable. That doesn't mean I think Zenimax created some amazing economic system. It's quite the opposite. I don't even consider buying things from other players. I vendor crafting materials I don't use. I also vendor any materials once they no longer fit my level range, and only those which pertain to my weapon and armor choices.

So, what does that leave me with? Respecs, horse food, bank/inventory space and repairs? Easily handled by the coin I take in. I haven't had the need to purchase any bank and inventory space since I was level 40, and that was quite awhile ago - I'm currently doing VR stuff. 120/120 is more than enough for the way I manage items, in fact the last 10 of each was simply because I accidentally hit the button while banking and I like things to be even, so I bought another 10 bag slots. In terms of crafting I have everything but enchanting between 43 and 50. Armor/weapons? I can make everything I need. I have all but one bow trait researched, the important traits on clothing and smithing researched.

I haven't redone my skill points yet, but I will when I've gained all the skill points you can get doing all three faction stories. Even at that point I don't think I'll have any money issues. I'm not going to be specific, but I have six digits and the only thing I buy is horse food and repairs.

Rather than editing my statement towards the top I'll change it. Is it broken? Probably. Does it matter? I would guess not at all for most people. But again, your experience may vary.

If you don't consider buying from other players, would that not mean the system has failed 100% ?This is a MMO not a solo game, hence meant to have players interact with the entire world. It would be just like real life, most of your shoes are made in China or korea, many Appliances and electronics are actually from over seas or the parts are. That is how a real economy works, geesh even back 100 years ago farmers still had to rely on each other for certain things,NOBODY is ever 100% self sufficient.

sounds like OP is complaining that the price of gold went up...simple ..just stop buy their gold? and aslo what i cant wrap my brain around is why the hell do you even need gold in this game in the first place? its not even a needed commodity like in other mmo's...if one dont like farming fine if one dont like selling junk fine if one dont like slow lvling fine..plz tell us why you are playing mmorpgs in general if one is too lazy to do so? imo i think the generation has faded to not working towards anything anymore and the generation that enjoys their self doing all of the above has and is becoming a lost breed of players...thats why we see soo many insta crap games nowa days

The key problem with buying gold is that the economy is shared among all the players in the game and has some features in common with real life currency.  If lots of people end up buying duped gold it can cause out of control inflation that makes the currency worth less and impact the ability of other players to meaningfully participate.  This in turn leads to those players being pressured into buying gold, and the next thing you know there is an out of control virtual economic death spiral being funded by player wallets and credit cards.

Wait... you think the economy in a game is broken because gold sellers start increasing the amount of gold they sell over time in a video game?

You do know how MMO works right?

Because i'm starting to think you have never played one before..

This seems to be the latest spurious argument making the rounds.  Someone makes a statement that someone else disagrees with and the rejoinder is "Well, you must never have played an MMORPG before..."

Ah, the all-knowing guru's of MMO's have graced us with their presence...

Based on what evidence, may I ask, do you declare that the OP has never played an MMO before?  He cites the basis for his opinion.  Whether or not it's right is a subject for discussion, not insults.

While I don't agree with the OP's supposition, isn't it possible to have a reasonable debate on these forums?  Or are all statements based on facts -- whether or not they are correctly interpreted -- to be met with misdirection, distortion, and insults?

I love this "People only trading in general chat may be affected"

My son was in 5 guilds. Got to 50 over a week ago. He new all the dupes going on for EACH guild new.  Do you have any clue as to how much gold they made? You think people in reg chat not in a guild suffer from haha gold sellers? Like me.. I am in no guilds never have been. The most I have on one toon is 7000 at lvl 10. Thats my highest.

Where go you think ALL those gold sellers are? In guilds and run guilds. This is a billion dollar biz they know what there doing. Like it or not believe it or not changes nothing.  When you can buy as of right now 1500k or any item. and its just ONE MONTH in. Keep telling your self that game is fine.

Op "economy" anyone can look it up yet most have no clue what it really means.  You can NEVER just pull money out of the air and stick it in game or in real life.  Yet this mmos is I agree a tad different as there is no AH yet it can still suffer and you know this guys come on.

Stop bickering back and forth and lets ALL report and get on ESO and make them get there act together about this. I really like this game. I wish more TALKED. Well EU side are very quite..VERY QUITE.

For any game wide economy to be broken, you first have to have a game wide economy. ESO has pocket economies, not a game wide one. For there to be a game wide economy, everyone has to have access to the things that people are selling, no mater what guild they may have access to. I understand why they did this, to encourage people to interact more with the people shouting "WTS" in all the major cities. But it does cut way down on a sellers and a buyers options as there is no open market system. Not to mention that the people you are gouging to make money may be the ones by your side when raiding. Just my thoughts on the subject.

TESO economy works like a set of separate markets, its quite patchy at the moment, but then the game has been out...lets see..less than a month. But if you want to be negative that has nothing to do with it.

The fact that the economy is split up in this way makes the gold selling have less effect than in a MMO with an Auction House. Once again if you just want to sound off against the game the fact that players cannot sell to everyone in the game is having no effect on gold sellers. Right.

Th evidence being proffered is: nearly every other MMO that has or currently exists.

Finite resources generally do not exist in MMO's, and most materials/items are available to anyone and everyone willing to try for them. Therefore the only trajectory that gold selling can take is upwards. In the real world this doesn't happen because supply fluctuates and scarcity of goods comes into play. In MMOs, where scarcity essentially does not exist the only limit on gold famers/sellers is buyer's demand to set the price.

They're farming an infinitely sustainable resource. So they will continue to accrue more and more of it as time progresses as will their customers. So they have to keep offering more gold at lower rates to keep their customers purchasing.

This is not only extremely basic economics - which, to be fair, perhaps the OP may be young and has not taken even a high school class on the subject - or he hasn't played an MMO. Otherwise it is disingenuous to make this assertion of ESO while ignoring all other MMO's as if gold selling is unique to ESO.

So that would be why Xorus said that.

Reasonable debate can only be had when there is some semblance of common knowledge. It's very difficult to discuss something when the very first post is based on conflating bugs and gold seller's and determining correlation due to the existence of both. Then the OP follows with a hypothetical statement without taking into consideration any current factors that might mitigate the hypothetical.
