One that does an obvious tongue job to the game by neglecting the dupes to a large degree and merely mentions gamebreaking bugs. Nice.

Angry Joe gave GW2 a perfect 10 (legendary!)

Witcher 2 got an 8.

Dragon Age 2 got a 7!!!  Say what you will about ESO, it's easily miles better than the travesty that was DA2. On top of that, how does Witcher 2 only get a single point higher than DA2? Really, they're not even on the same planet.

Has he really only reviewed 2 MMO's? Does this guy even play MMO's?

Watch he explains not only his 10/10 for GW2 but how you should view his review scores in general.

I could mention again that this is one guys opinion, and it may not be the same as yours, but that horse has been beaten to death.

Okay, his opinion is "just one guys opinion" and so is mine. So if that's how you feel about it, why did you make this thread if his opinion is just as valid as mine?

To add variety to the "Reviews & Impressions" sub-forum. I encourage you to post your own review if you haven't already.

I have already.

Because his reviews (like it or not) carry a lot more clout than what any of us here say or think.

That's reality.

AngryJoe gets a LOT of views, so his opinions carry more weight (it is just another man's opinion - and yes it is not any more valid than anyone elses)

But we live in the age of "celebrity" - and the public looks up and listens to celebrity, it DOES affect public opinion, there is no denying that.

Yes, but I wanted the OP to say it, because the OP posted this thread with the intention of creating a flame war revolving around the value of Joe's review. Notice how the OP offers nothing beyond, "look at this negative review!"

Dude hasn't posted in 2 years, and his first post in 2 years is, "5/10 for ESO". And that's all he can say?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't care if people have negative or positive opinions about something that I like or dislike. But if you're going to post something, you have to offer something to discuss otherwise you're clearly trolling.

Want to post Joe's review? Great. What about his review did you agree/disagree with? Or are you just happy that it was a low score regardless of what was said in the review?

And now you've stooped to discrediting the OP. He wasn't inflammatory at all. He posted Angry Joe's review and showed the score he gave.

Yes, that is what he did. Re-read your own statement until you realize that he didn't initiate any discussion and instead only presented a link. So there's not really anything to discredit is there as the OP did exactly what you said he did.

So instead of anything in this thread resembling a discussion about ESO, it's only about the merit of the reviewer and the OP's intent. If he had said something, at least then we could debate it, but he didn't, so we can't. So the purpose of this thread is?

The purpose of this thread is to present Angry Joe's review and it is only objectionable to you obviously because it was negative. So plain as the nose on your face.

GW2 gets 10/10

ESO gets 5/10

Ive played both, and I enjoyed the leveling in both games. However the game after you reach cap (or lets say VR1 for ESO) is quite different. In GW2 u had a cluster fuck of zerg and unstructured dungeon gameplay. In ESO you at leats have trinity and less Zerg.

I wont comment on PvP, as I havent done that much, but personally I see more future in ESO than I did in Gw2, which quickly grew stale once you hit lvl 80.

IMO ESO should be higher around 8/10, and GW2 should be lower also around 8/10.

Joe clearly forgot the reason why mounts are so expensive and golds drops are so low:

Or maybe he didn't know about it.

Mounts are expensive? I guess everyone can afford a mount at level 20 or atleast 25. It toogles down the speed of leveling and exploring for lower levels. and yes everyone who bought this horse with euros levels faster... but we dont live in the world of jelousy, do we?:)

So to get an entry level mount, i have to get half way to the leveling experience?

In most mmos you dont even have the option to buy a mount until around 15+. At least in this you can ride one as soon as you start.  Dont blame anyone if you personally cant figure out how to get the money and buy it because I have seen plenty of people who bought it before even level 10, and I mean the normal horses not imperial ones.

By paying extra money after paying a box and sub?

You don't get it. My issue isn't even the price of mount or how fast you can get it. It's the fact that the mounts cost quite abit of money but you can bypass it by spendign rl cash.

I don't care about othes getting their horses, i don't care if it takes some time to get mine. I'ts the fact that Zeni is milking it's players, in their face. If the horse wasn't in the cash shop, then it'd just be a annoying thing, but no.

Funnier is that, as expected, the fans defend this practice. First, subs are suppose to keep cash shops and these kinds of moves out so everyone is at the same levels. Now, it's ok because you don't need it and it's just convinience.

If it was Wildstar pulling this off, everyone would lose their sh** over it. But because it's the game they like, it's fine. And then people complain about "cash shops everywhere".

So then just, yo know, dont buy it. Nobody is forcing anyone to spend real $ on it. It is optional. Kind of a pointless option as well considering very few people would actually buy just the horse when the 17k to buy one is actually fairly easy to get if you manage your money well and know what to sell. Hell I've probably blown through an average of 5-10k a day just in crafting mats, backpack / bank upgrades, feeding my horses, upgrading my gear, etc for all of my characters the highest of which is only 31 now. 17k is practically nothing after your first few days.

Yeah, I find it hilarious he was just as fully strapped to the hype-train as anyone, then flew off the rails of reality.  Now, like many, he's having to change his premature review.  Honestly, I don't see why anyone gives his opinions any thought.  I've never been a fan.  Would rather read reviews and the like that involve a lot more critical thinking, not wishful thinking.  I know gamers as a whole are perhaps a bit to hard on games these days, but eh, can't help myself.  I'm just not much of an optimist in most cases.

This isn't exactly rocket science here. Op gave us all the material we need. It's a 40 minute review, lots to talk about.

How about instead of attacking the op and his possible motivations, you just stick to the actual subject matter? The thread is clearly about Joe's review, and that's what should be discussed. No need to try and derail the topic.

Focusing on things like that are rather stupid as a reviewer to begin with. What happens when you go on and on about bugs, dupes, etc post your review and the very next day half of those things are fixed in a patch?

A good review focuses on the core gameplay & mechanics, features, etc. Not a bug or exploit that could be gone by the time anyone even notices your review.

I've went from crazy hyped to very leary about ESO in the last 4 weeks.

I was gonna pre order, glad I didn't .

I was gonna buy it when I saw it 26 bucks on ebay, glad I didn't .

Now, the last 2 days has made up my mind. Nope, not gonna happen.

Good luck to you all who enjoy this game . :)

I'll be sticking with Guild Wars 2.

Thanks .

I've been watching Angry Joe for couple of years now, and without defending ESO I must say he should stick with the CoD games as those seem to be his thing. I havent even seen this vid yet since I watch him only at work, but if the Wildstar video is any reference it's going to be bad, I dont think that the Wildstar video had any relevance to those who the game is made for.

Also his GW2 video shows his american stereotypical "WOOOOOHHHH YEEEEHAAA THE BIGGER THE BETTER HEEHAA" where GW2 gets always referenced as an awesome game since you kill a giant sized mob at lvl5 of every starting area. It does not matter that in fact it takes no effort, the giant mobs are a joke that goes down like basic mobs, and there's not even any reward, so I guess the only thing that matters is "HEEEEHAAAA LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT THING YYYEEEEHAHAAA" so yeah, I think his Titanfall and some random Batman game reviews has more relevance for the target audience >_>'

His videos can often be entertaining though even if I dont agree with him half the time, they can be absolutely retarted too, which is his thing and works quite alright for him :)

Dayumn, I think I have to watch this at home later today, getting awfully curious what he's screaming about as the end of the world this time, considering the score. Right now I'm personally having 8/10 good time in the game, but I havent done much yet so it could get down a bit in few weeks time, I doubt there's anything to get it higher.

Rusque you posted this there

Just in case you're like me and have been locked away (playing ESO) you may have missed the cinematics (in order):

Why is work a thing? I need to be home playing right now.

Why did you not put discuss in the thread content ? Was it necessary to give people the instruction to discuss the graphics or admire it ? Why aren't you taking your own advice on posting ?

I pretty much agree with all of his talking points, not that it should be a shock to anyone.

Personally I found his review quite fair. All his criticisms were backed up with actual video evidence/examples and I didn't see anything that came across as him hating something just for the sake of it. Lots of reasoned arguments put forward, which hopefully Zenimax may take on board.

You can also clearly tell the disappointment with what he had experienced. It's obvious that he loves Elder Scroll's as an IP and would have liked to have enjoyed this one also.

Didn't strike me as a hater going off on a rant at all, rather just a disappointed player.

Everything he says about the game is true no matter how much of a ES fan you are. He didn't even touch the problems that exist in PVP, they are many and gamebreaking.

Right now ESO is just a game to take a sunday walk watching the sights and hearing the quest dialogues. It's a very boring game, beautiful and boring. Like a gorgeous woman who has s##" for brains and is awful in bed.

I can see this becoming a good game eventually but they have so much work ahead of them that is quite doubtful they ll make it.

In his review he mentions that there is multi classing as a good thing with customization. Except classes are locked and the only specialization is in armor types and weapon types.

I agree with score, but I would give a 6/10 and maybe even a 7/10 for personal reasons. However, I would not recommend the game to anyone. Its just a personal score for myself since I am kind of a masochist that I enjoy beating something that feels broken. Of course it takes a toll on my patience making me a worse person in real life by wearing out my patience... which is why I dont recommend it to others, and normally try do something else before I interact with other ppl to recalibrate my senses.

Issues with the game;

1. Bugged quests but most importantly the maing story quest restricting access to vr content

2. Expensive horse and little money made in game

3. Expensive to customize stats or skills

4. P2p but feels like f2p with expensive mount, and expensive customization

5. Bugged animations for combat and some abilities not working as intended.

6. Boss fights average without many mechanics, and sometimes instant kill randomly for no reason which make it bugged since instant deaths with 0 reaction time is not a possible mechanic to deal with

7. Reward and exploration, similar to bosses and boss fights, but also items and rewards are minimal

8. Variety - quests are straight forward and mostly simple fights, which is completely fine if it wasnt for the simple boss fights

9. Dupe bug ruining economy. I cant sell my items even though they are rare and well priced

10. Crafting requires too much exp to lvl for each category but is exploited with other crafters sharing or deconstructing others crafts. Which would not be so much of a problem, but making money is hard enough

11. Money sinks - Repair costs, repsec costs, feeding horse costs

12. Limited content - Mostly Pve in questing and open world pvp, and pvp only in cyrodill - No duels, bounty system, player housing

13. Pvp - very simple pvp seiges and it might as well be instanced with a warzone of conquer this castle, but now in phase 2 of the instance defend this castle. The difference of it not being an instance is that in the  'open world' it takes longer and is a lot more disorganized with a lot of running times in between.

However, I did enjoy the questing and I did enjoy the challenge with the unbalanced combat but it was made more frustrating than enjoyable when I know others were playing better classes making it easier for them (instead of it being challenging as something intentional rather than something that was bugged and impossible in some cases) or others were in groups and aoe grinding reaching endgame much quicker.

End game is very simple and the hybrid of 'sand box' pvp and themepark gw2 pve is not well done. Its basicvally gw2 in an eso skin but a different art style. Gw2 has dynamic events, and might easier to lvl in compared to the 100s of hours required here for solo play to reach end game.

i wonder why it even got 5/10. a below mediocre game with bad pvp should be more like 3/10.

though it's pretty hilarious that people don't see scams even if you rub the fact under their noses lol :D
