I think that GW2 and FF IV are the only two games i never played yet , GW2 looks great coz events features , but the problem is that every friend i´ve keepy saying bad things about GW2,  like the craft system is terrible or the PVE is a joke, i really want to buy the game but in every forum about MMO´s there lot of posts saying S hit about how the game fail in lot of things.

Is it worth buy?  or should i go straight to FFIV ?   i like solo play and join small guilds without drama and big raids.

Hope that some GW2 vet can bring some "light" about end game and how PVE works.

If you're looking for a super casual MMORPG, GW2 is for you. By no means is it a bad game but it certainly does not stand up with the big boys of the MMORPG world. But unless you're looking to go super hardcore MMO gaming, GW2 is a great way to go. And with no monthly fee where can you go wrong?

every single post that bash the game have NO ENDGAME thingy in it but doesnt say anything more than that

I would classify it as hard content that I had yet to complete, like challenge mode raids or dungeons.  Most games keep people hanging on until harder content is launched through gear treadmills, but there is always harder content on the horizon.

With GW2, there are fractals that keep getting harder, but its essentially the same dungeon and that gets boring after a while.  There hasn't been any new challenging content added since the fractals, which is a shame because GW1 had some super hard dungeons.

At any rate its a bit late now to change course, the players still left in the game are casual who enjoy the episodic content of the Living Story.  Since that is their playerbase now, they should continue to cater to them.

Well they have also added two super-difficult world bosses (Tequatl and Wurm) which require a coordinated group of 50+ people. Might not be your "thing" or maybe you already did those?

I enjoy GW2, to me it is actualy relaxing there is no massive grind. leveling from 1-80 if you know how takes about 3 days. but why rush it. There is no constant farming needed for endgame eather, i spend most my time helping new players and ofcorse RPing.

I did actually come back and do those.  It was interesting and required coordination but it wasn't enough to keep me around.

If you depend on other people's opinions to decide for you that something is worth it or not, you would be better off solving that issue first.

I tried to lvl 1-80, (gw2), was horible! I liked the pvp, but not for long! I like to support ppl, gw2 didnt let me the way I want! I miss the trinity! Wvw was also boring. I like the ava in eso tho.

Alright it sounds like you either play a lot more than the average player or are just a much better player than most. I don't think you'll find real challenge in "AAA" MMO games. Maybe Wildstar? They claim they're bringing back the challenge of "old times".

GW2 offers insane amount of contend for its box price.
But like any other mmo, once your reach that "snapping" point at classes and ablity's start feeling the same and you cant even play longer then 10 minutes before you just logout and had enough.

Still GW2 offered me many times my box price back with countless of hours of WvW and PVE.
Maybe if GW2 had a trinity with tank / healer / dps it could have been my best mmo ever played, but it wasnt ment to be that way as Anet dint want to listen to me :(

FF ARR is also one heck of an mmo, it offers great value for you rmoney and its cheap compared to other sub based mmo's with box prices.
I can raly recommend this mmo if you love to play the holy trinity setup with tank / healer / dps.
Story is good, pvp is also added altough much has to be improved on that aspect, but still i can be fun !
raiding / dungeons are realy nicely done, much better then GW2 if you ask me.

So its a hard decision wich you like more.

But you cant realy go wrong with any of those 2 i think :)

GW2 is well worth the box price.  In my opinion, it lacks longevity. but the leveling and exploration are worth the price of admission.  Once you finish your GW2 bucket list, the game does get old fast.  That doesn't mean you shouldn't jump in and try it.  The game has alot of good systems, and AAA content at a B2P price.

That is the thing about GW2, if you haven't gone to one of the other races starting areas, it will be a challenge, due to level scaling. That is a positive in my book.

I will say you don't understand the game or the player base. So what if it is casual, you say it like it is a disease or something. People have other things to do in their lives besides gaming, children, pets, family, etc.

I consider myself a hardcore gamer, I love gaming and GW2 gives me everything I need. Is it perfect, no it isn't. I haven't actually found a game that captures me more. ESO, the new darling of this forum, is a flash in the pan compared to GW2 - the reason being it is an ES in name only (it is a console game, single player, that went MMO on the PC port and then went back to console).

The game has been out almost 2 years now, I say that is longevity in the current MMO world.

No, the other starting races areas are a complete joke at max level while downleveled. The game is just balanced poorly. The group mobs are impossible for some classes even while downleveled with max gear. The normal mobs are a joke if you are downleveled with good gear. Basically going back to visit a low level area is never fun in GW2, it is a chore you have to go through to get achievements.

There are few groups of players hating on Gw2

1) Pure haters that hate every MMO that has come out since the 90s

2) People who played Gw2 for somewhere between 1 hour and 10 hours at launch and somehow feel experts on Gw2. It still makes me laugh when people say Gw2 has no LFG tool xD

3) People who don't understand Gw2's mechanics at all because the game is not punishing you for being retard. As stated by ANet, a huge chunk of active players have never used traits.

4) Occasional anti-action combat old guys. Everything with less than 48 skills on screen for them to spam while staying in static position is bad and must cease to exist because they can't adapt.

5) Trolls.

Either way, Gw2 is cheap(as in price, not in quality!)  and is 1-time purchase. I stand by my words to say that Gw2 is one of the most polished MMOs out today. FFXIV feels and plays like a MMO from the 90s, nothing really new.

Don't take my word for it though, check in here yourself http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/

So basicly anet is stating that their active players are haters?

So, did ESO have a successful launch? Yes, yes it did.

well i dont like themeparks, they kill me, but i still play GW2 since release ...

its combat its enjoying (maybe cause i have main engineer.. ) its PvE yes its on rails and ends in a month if you are hardcore MMOgamer after that there are only the living world events every 2 weeks which actually last for a day or a couple, then you go at WvW or sPvP only there is depth, or farming to create a Legendary and an Ascended armor ..

but ok i dont like holy trinity and i dont like static combat, if i was a fan of these i would have more issues, but for the moment my issues are the strict themepark which is GW2, but until StarCitizen or BlackDesert i dont see anything else (maybe ArcheAge )

also i love the artwork of GW2 its true and passed into the game, something which is truly rare and most MMOs looks clunky after it ...

FFO i havent played .

" i like solo play and join small guilds without drama and big raids."

Those are exact same reasons i joined gw2 since beta and have never left.

I have my own guild(Pleasure Masons (hueheuheubrbrbr)) created for me and my alts(Extra bag space and buffs)

I hated raids when started to become the objective rather than an activity on games. Gw2 dungeons are 5 man, and while they can become a lil bit stressing with inexperienced players, u can always find a good group, plus its cross-server.

The only problem is that once your taste the sweet wine of fast and smooth runs you start getting a lil bit more "exigent", but in case your lucky to get a small guild that run dungeons regularly then you will be all set :)

From leveling to dungeons theres a very cruel and mean learning curve, but theres plenty of guides on the net, as well MENTORS on the official forums willing to teach newbies, but nothing stopping you from creating your own rules and requirements.

Fractals are waaay more challenging and require more team coordination, but again theres plenty of vets around that already know then, as well mentors and videos and such.

Hope it helps, if you have a more specific question feel free to ask, or you can find guides with vids and discussion in the official forums.

now: GW2 (10 80s).
Dark Souls 2.
future: Mount&Blade 2 BannerLord.
"Bro, do your even fractal?"
Recommends: Guild Wars 2, Dark Souls, Mount&Blade: Warband, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

When a game is great or good and doing well then the haters hate just a little more, for example I could start a thread about how great world of warcraft is and 80% of my replys would be negative, people telling me how bad the game is and so on, yet 8 million people love it.

It's the same with GW2. I have played most mmos that are big like wow, swtor, final fantasy, TSW and the list goes on.

I can say this is you try GW2 and like it then you will play this game for along time, it's huge. They have everything good PVE awesome PVP.

In Gw2 most events happends in the open world and not in dungeons and thats why there are usually Zerges. But then again when you are in a boss fight that requires 150 ppl to kill it, lets just say it would be tough to do in a 5 man party.

People think that GW2 is easy and yeah sure it could be if you want it to be, the game is very solo friendly. You can to smaller events, your story line or fill som hearts (smarter quest hub but basiclly the same thing.

Crafting is something that's easy to get to max lvl when you have the materials for it but it's a grindy or expensive to make the really good stuff.

In pvp you have the standard battlegrounds like 10 vs10 something or tournaments 5 vs 5 (I think) and it's fun, I haven't played it that much yet. You also have WvW which is a battle between 3 servers or keeps and stuff and thats really fun.

I have so much more to say but my break is over at work so I leave you with this.

Buy it, doesn't cost much, big playerbase, no sub, you never have to buy anything in cash shop still get everything, If you like you won't be playing any other game in a long time.

When a game isn't great, then people tell you how not great it is. I find this a little more likely than awesomeness breeding haters.

Tell me about it.  Everyone was all "raids are teh best!!!11" and I used to enjoy them but now that they're the focus, well let's just say I cancelled my WoW sub after doing Pandaria raids because there didn't seem to be a point to 95% of the rest of the game's content.  Raids just kill my interest in MMO's, though I have plans to try Warlords when it's released, mainly because it doesn't stink of desperation and might actually bring back the feeling I got in the BC days.

GW2's focus on events rather than structured raids is probably the way MMO's are headed, not that a lot of people want to admit that.

ESO, the new darling of this forum, is a flash in the pan compared to GW2 - the reason being it is an ES in name only (it is a console game, single player, that went MMO on the PC port and then went back to console).[/b][/quote]

You don't balance races, you balance professions. Saying there is no balance in the other race starting areas makes no sense at all. That is the point of downleveling, if you want to face roll everything, then this game is not for you. There is NO balance issue, try a different build.

I enjoy the other areas because they are different form one another, unlike ESO which puts on a pretty face but it all the sameness. There is a difference to the feel of each starter area in GW2, ESO it is the same - bleh!
