Those are two very different questions, since the pay structure for games in Asian countries is drastically different from the structure in western countries.  I don't know if anyone has done the exact math, but the average western player is worth substantially more than several average eastern players.

^this would be excellent to see broken down and provided in these forums (worth meaning - cost-wise to the player). I think it would be valuable to see and used to make a decision on which game you're getting into. I would do the research, but I'm not exactly sure where to start.

Lineage numbers, just like wow asia numbers show active accounts.... Mostly that means all accounts that where active over the last two years or so and still have some playtime left...

Yes more people should, because this forum on these boards is almost death...  It should spice up a little..    A great game like wildstar deserves more attention then this.

I've personally decided I won't be playing 1 of these games, and I'm waiting to decide on the other.   BUT I hope they both do well enough (as FF:ARR is apparently doing) to show that the market for Subscription MMO's is still alive and strong, and that just because other devs are releasing 20 f2p thrown together cash grabs a month doesn't mean the entire genre has to go that route.

I actually think most games would be better off with less attention, especially MMOs.  The shorter the amount of time people are aware of a game before it comes out, the less likely they are to form unrealistic preconceptions and then be disappointed when the game doesn't match their fantasy of what it should have been.

Peace is a lie, there is only passion.

Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.

Are you the type of player that doesn't care about crafting or give two shits about lore or storyline and click through quests as fast as possible... and only cares about combat gameplay?  Are you a fan of small group PvP?   This is a buddy of mine, he enjoys  Wildstar.  He find ESO questing to be too slow paced and boring.

Are you the type that listens to dialogue, enjoys storyline and lore, enjoys crafting,  and enjoys an immersive world?  Are you a fan of RvR?  This is me, and I enjoy ESO.  I find Wildstar's text based 2003 questing to be god awful terrible.

They're about as far away from each-other as two themeparks can get.

There really is not ESO vs Wildstar, but there seems to be on the forums. It looks like Wildstar is the victim from the backlash from all the negative hype prior to ESO NDA lift. I don't know how many articles and comments I have seen where people meticulously and carefully are trolling for Wildstar fans to bite. It is like a diversion to put down Wildstar and to get people to only look at the graphics between the two games.

Ultimately you sit at a pc, load up your favorite pc game, click buttons and stuff happens, graphics, crafting, instancing, rvr, pvp, raids, trinity,.......

Perhaps there are some people that need "realistic" vs "cartoony" graphics as a means of testimony to their adulthood.

Reminds me of the WoW vs EQ2 days. WoW is better! Its got style! No, EQ2 is better! Its more realistic and not cartoony!

Yeah, same games have housing and world building and raids and some games dont have any of that. Cant compare them ;) . But the games are so different that hopefully both will end up being wildly successful and keep the genre going strong

ESO is absolutely no threat to Wildstar at all!  First of all they are going after completely different audiences!  Secondly, and most importantly, ESO will crash and burn.  ESO is the 2nd tortanic, while Wildstar is WoW 2.0.

The biggest difference between Wildstar and ESO is that the developers of ESO seem to actually have a plan. Wildstar is just like 'We're launching at the end of 2013!!11' then doesn't, doesn't do beta invites correctly, has no launch date, has no preorder date, has nothing but a bunch of derpy 'DevSpeak' videos with a bunch of hipster sounding guys trying to act like the game is this great thing we should all wait another who knows how many months for.

Really sick in the MMO community of people thinking that this sort of thing that the Wildstar team is doing is acceptable and 'great'. It was cute the first few times it was done, now it's just irritating.

This is like a joke post right?  It has to be a joke!  ESO started off as anything but skyrim online, and the developers slowly turned a full 180, and made skyrim online!   The devs of ESO have been so clueless as the direction of ESO it's not even funny!

The plan for Wildstar has always been the same!

Ohh wait, you aren't even talking about actual design decisions...  You are talking about launch dates...  MMOs get pushed back....  That happens, like always!  Preorders without an official launch date?

This is a joke post right?  Please tell me this is a joke.

TESO and Wildstar are MMO rivals

like

GW2 and SWTOR were.

its something you have to except.

Go back and read the forum here for those two games before their release. you will see what I mean.

Interesting thought.

People who play SWTOR as F2P will try Wildstar or not and can carry on playing SWTOR if they wish. People who sub to SWTORs are probably diehard and content - not that there can be many left EA having announced significant drops in sub revenue for the last 3 quarters due primarily or jointly to SWTOR.

WoW players - could give Wildstar a try - WoW must have a lot of leaving and returning players.

I suspect they would really really like to launch 3 months after Warlord's!

But that will (probably) put them up against Destiny.

As the saying goes caught between a rock and a hard place.

Wildstar is the game you love at first but eventually grow to hate.

ESO is the game you hate at first but eventually grow to love.

I wasn't expecting it at all, in fact I only downloaded ESO to see how bad it really was. It was really fucking terrible too, but during that weekend I had nothing better to do so I stuck with it. Once I hit level 10, tried the pvp and shit things changed, I suddenly couldn't stop playing.

Wildstar has been the exact opposite. I was really excited at first and I really enjoyed the first few hours, but beyond that it's frankly been a struggle. It's just a very boring game. It's a game I've played too many times before and I can't be bothered with. It's not intentional by anymeans, I just don't feel logging in. Shit I'veo nly been in three beta weekends and this time I haven't even gained a level because I just couldn't be arsed.

I hope there is enough people who'll love wildstar though because I really think they're doing a lot of good stuff, I just won't be one of you.

No plan?  What are you talking about?  Carbine has put together one of the most open, well-coordinated, and organized pre-launch productions  I've seen in recent years.  Their plan is "It's done when it's done."  Sorry that doesn't fit into your time schedule, but I'd much rather have them making sure the game is 100% ready to go than rush it out the door.

Carbine has been terrific during the pre-launch schedule.  Anyone who doesn't at least acknowledge that is a fool.

Really?

I had The same experience with both, boring and claustrophobic grind for the first two zones but then the 3rd zone opens up and the game broadens.

To me the only real things that sets ESO apart from Wildstar is RvR, art style, combat and Wildstar's 3rd zone is at least twice as large and not split into pop capped instances.Otherwise I found them similar.
