We all know that MMOs die or thrive from their endgame content. GW2 and SWTOR failed because of their weak endgame. WoW became the giant it is today because of its endgame.

Most players will hit max level within the first month. Then what? What will keep us playing (and paying)? Are there raids? Meaningful PvP progression a la DAoC?

Most importantly, why has Zenimax shown absolutely nothing about the endgame? All the media previews talk about the content from level 1 to 15 which most players will surpass within the first 1-2 days. Doesn't that make anyone else suspicious?

I believe in ESO, you will get out of it what you put in. If you rush rush rush to endgame you will rush rush rush your way to another game. I consider myself a raider and wasn't happy with the annocnments of no raids. But if you take your time to craft, explore, level up everything, read the ingame books, talk with the NPCs, search every house, follow the stories, altrenate PvP and PvE, ect...You will not level to 15 in two days. Or to endgame so quick and may really enjoy your time in ESO.

They have spent a lot of time and energy talking about the three faction PVP.  That's a clear sign to me that's your end game, PVP.  I wouldn't expect much in the way of PVE endgame besides a few higher level dungeons and I'm not even sure at this point we will see raids at launch.

- 70% of the solo PvE content is levle 50, level 50+, and level 50++,   Where + and ++ are the gearprogression indicators..

- every of the 16 dungeons will have a version for 50+ and for 50++ content

- there are PVE adventure zones which are story based multi group content..

- there is PvP aimed to be endgame content..

gear progression works differently... As there will be 3 llevels of engame gear.... Lvl 50 , lvl 50+ and level 50 ++...

this gear gets random stats.... So it will allways be possible to find slightly better or more fitting gear

and crafters can help you combine your best looking gear with the gear with the best stats

the only thing so far missing is character progression like an AA or realmpoint system to give people another reason to play all the content. But i got that covered in another thread..

i have no clue why they have not shown anything of that.....  Both extremes are still possible..... Could be another AOC cover upp, but it could also be that they try the oldfashioned way of protecting their great content and ideas...  The company comes from a long range of single player games in which it is normal to keep as much fromyour content hidden as long as possible and be very selective about what content to show...

i guess we will not know untill the NDA drops .... And their hardcore testers can speak freely

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

I don't actually know this. EQ had next to no end game at release and it still thrived. The concept of end game didn't get pushed until much later. WoW's end game was mostly non existant at release as well. Re-playability of the base game is 10 times as important as end game for retaining people imo.

GW2 didn't thrive as much as they thought because the group content is boring and the game is just too dumbed down. SWTOR was just a bad game, can't blame end game for that.

PvP

When I eat chocolate chip pie it just doesn't feel like chocolate chip cookies. The texture, the consistency, it's just not the same and this is disappointing.

Just my 2 cents...

I will have to agree that replayablity is more important than end game.

Of course end game is a must as well

In a nutshell, its endgame is PVP and dungeons. There appear to be a few world bosses, but no raids. The complete lack of raiding is a very underestimated detriment. The PVP better be amaizing, because no amount of dungeons will keep PVEers interested and paying a sub fee for months on end.

24 man adventure zones, PvP, 4 man dungeons, open world exploration, crafting..

Also level 50 is not the end exactly, it's just the end to your experience gain. You still have a lot of skills to learn.

;) End game begins at level 10 for me. I will do enough pve to craft, and give myself an XP boost. The group content looks pretty ok too. Straight AvA I think it might take 4 months to reach cap.

I just hope that PvE endgame doesn't mean dailies. Bloody hate this concept really. I think that mixing things with level 50+ dungeons / open world bosses / AvA / crafting would be ok for me. Would not mind a raid or two in coming months but I'm too casual for dedicated raiding these days. AvA sounds nice but it depends on community ofc.

Here is an article you might want to read. In addition, your skills continue to progress even after you reach level 50.

There is some good information in this article as well:

The top article there from elderscrollsonlin.info is a joke.   it talks definitively as  though it is the ultimate authority and uses the term "awesome".  It dismisses other games end game in favour of ESOs which is unproven and largely undescribed to the customer base.

It also says " Your character can start mastering any crafting profession at low levels and all crafted items are useful at any level."     So the thing i crafted as a level 4 is going to be "useful" to me at level 50++    !  Yes right  of course it is !

It'll be high level WvW vs high level WvW and you probably can't get your name on your master craft weapons D:

Looks like the focus could be PvP, and is a good thing, PvE guilds and players will burn the content in a few weeks, then quit and QQ because the game doesnt have enough content and we all know the history at this point. You wont have that problem with the PvP community, if the PvP is good, they wont leave that fast.

Though a little blunt, I think you are correct. Much of the PVE crowed will prob find some enjoyment at first, but will run out of content in the short term. If the PVP is really good, that is what will keep this game a float. If the PVP is mediocre at best, then the game will probably settle with a population of 100-200k, which is perfectly fine.
