Hey there, my trusty old sidewinder gaming mouse is biting the dust.  Pulled out an old razer naga that I had bought a few years ago.

I quit using the naga because the side buttons are just too hard to push.  Leaves my hand and fingers sore after a gaming session.

Was looking at the g600 mouse, because I do like the extra buttons...my new game of choice is Rift.

Can anyone comment on the side buttons? I read in a review that they are wobbly.  I don't know if that means they have more give and are easier to push.  I'm 45 and feel the wrist hand strain more than I did years ago.

Thinking about ordering the g600 so if anyone can answer that question for me I would appreciate it.

I absolutely adore my G600, and I'm not sure about the "wobbly" buttons thing. I use the side buttons for just about every game now, they're just nice and easy. So, some things about the mouse that I particularly like:

-It's big and heavy (the naga felt too small for me)

-The side buttons are angled and keyed, as opposed to being straight and flat like the Naga. I find it makes it very easy to figure out your thumb position without looking at the mouse.

-Third (fourth?) mouse button. The other totally configurable button on the side is great. I typically use it as a modifier (ctrl) but you can do lots of things with it (for instance creating a unique modifier which has a completely seperate keymap for the mouse). Or you can turn it off entirely, and use it as a pinky rest.

-Customizable LED backlight.

-Profile integration with the other logitech G series. I have the full set (G19, G13, G600), when I flip profiles, it flips for everything, makes life easy.

So, I'd recommend it.

Kind of curious about this subject as well. I've been saving money for a complete system build this holiday season (hoping for sales). Never owned a gaming mouse. Always just generic whatever.  Usually the cords wear out right were they go into the mouse or the left click tab that presses the switch wears down. Scroll wheel wear is a bit annoying but as long as it doesn't free spin very easily it's not as big of a deal.

Clickers like Dota 2 , torchlight are hell on the mice I've owned and curious how these stand up. One thing that always kind of sat in the back of my mind is why don't any of these companies put a metal cap over the tabs or something to prevent wear.  That said I am open to anything and would love suggestions.  Not looking for a 100+ dollar mouse though.

The reason I think the Naga 2014 could be an option for me is because they've made some new changes that made people lean more towards the G600. The current version has mechanical buttons and they are easier to tell the difference between at least from what I have been reading and seeing online. Both being fairly close in price. I do know on both sides they have issues. Software or whatever related.  A bad mouse whatever. Not really looking for bias personally. I really just want to make an informed decision since I have ever really dropped as much money on a system as I plan to later this year.

My biggest concerns or what I am looking for are:

Durability and wear: Left click wear on the tab that presses the switch.  Wire wear.  Scroll wheel wear.  Most of the mice I've owned the scroll wheel always seems to wear out the notches. Annoying like I said mainly cause they don't free spin but they don't give any feed back either and easy to over spin when say weapon swapping.

Four buttons forward on the  left side that are easy to reach with my thump.  Doesn't have to be as many as the G600 or Naga.

Just a friendly heads up.. DONT BUY IT FROM NEWEGG!!!  G600s that were made before October 2012 cannot have their firmware updated.  I recently bought mine from there and they are still selling the old ones. That old firmware is full of problems.  I contacted them and they said they wont have the newer ones for a while.  After thirty days of owning the worthless one, Logitech will replace it.  I hope that helps ;)

I like the gs 300. All the buttons are on the top.

I own the Razer Naga (classic), Razer Naga Molten, and the G600.

My first naga's middle mouse button no longers works when i push it down, the Molten's right mouse button has broke and doesn't always register when you push it down. I've had the g600 for a few months longer then the Molten and i have yet to have an issue.

If you have small hands i would suggest the Naga but if your of average size i would seriously recommend the g600. It honestly feels like the Naga has given me or accelerated my arthritis. My right hand gets stiff and i feel i must constantly crack it.

The side buttons on the G600 are angled in such a way that it feels the buttons are seperated into 2 sections so it makes pressing the correct button a lot easier. However i did have some difficulty getting used to it since i used the Naga first, but i'm very happy i stuck with it!

The g600's different colors allow you to quickly see what DPI setting you have currently active and the software is very easy to understand.

Thanks for the heads up about the firmware on the G600.  Doing some looking around I assume,

PN 910-003542   <-- is the newer version?

PN 910-002867   <-- older version which can not be updated?

Edit: Nevermind just saw the two different model numbers on the site.  Guess it's colors. Was trying to figure out how to tell the difference between older and newer versions of the G600.

I owned 1 for a few days over a year, please read peoples comments on their forums about the mouse. Mine had the left click go bad and when i tried to get logitech to replace it 3 days after the warranty, I was told, sorry we won't replace it, but you can go to our online store and buy a new one. Apperently a lot of their mice have had this problem and they don't give a rats ass about it.

It's not the colors. They fixed the problems with the old version but decided to keep selling it to get rid of the old stock.  Check all the latest reviews on newegg. The only way I found out was by trying to update the firmware. It will tell you that it's not possible to update if it's the old version.

I like the GS700. It has fewer buttons I think. 4 side, 3 on the top left and one behind the scroll wheel. The scroll wheel has both ratchet and free wheeling mode (changed by a mouse button below the wheel). The mouse can store 5 profiles, but I use the LGS to configure profiles as well. The software is better in my opinion because you can tie them to game executables so if you play more than one game you don't need to manually switch profiles. You can also make more than one profile for a game so if you have multiple builds  you can make multiple profiles.

I have a K800 keyboard that is non-programmable, but I can use keyboard bindings on the mouse. The LGS also has several main games, including Rift, that will allow you to bind direct game actions to buttons rather than keyboard bindings. It works great with Win8 and native bindings for that OS as well.

The GS700 shares the same body style as the M500 shape and style but better quality. It's got a nice weight to it but not too heavy either. It just feels solid.

Curse you AquaScum!

Before you buy a Logitech600, consider why you need the extra buttons.

Then consider what buttons on your mouse are most easily used for you.

Then ask yourself why you did not think about a Roccat Kone XTD.

I own one for a few months now and it is a BLAST compared to my old Naga. Only 2 Buttons on the side, sure. But one is so easily reached and functions as a shift-key. So basically i can double map every button. INCLUDING the 2 mainbuttons on the top AND the wheel.

Lets be honest, we all want more buttons *grin*, but the two main buttons and the wheel are the best and most easily reached ones. With the Kone i can now have

  • 2 functions on right click
  • 2 functions on left click
  • 2 functions on wheel click
  • 2 functions on wheel down
  • 2 functions on wheel up
  • 2 functions on wheel left (4d wheel)
  • 2 functions on wheel right
All this does NOT yet include the 2 other buttons on the top, because i never needed that many buttons. Right now i only use 3 buttons and have mapped 14 functions to them. I simply love this. And really, the shift on the thumb is so easily pushed, you don't even notice it after a day or two.

Most games nowadays only allow 4-8 skills anyways, so i use wheel down with shift for volume and the 2 main buttons for "next track" and "next playlist" hehe.

MMOs finally replaced social interaction, forced grouping and standing in a line while talking to eachother.

Now we have forced soloing, forced questing and everyone is the hero, without ever having to talk to anyone else. The evolution of multiplayer is here! We won,... right?

That's almost like the G700s.   If the G700s or that one came with at least the first row or two of buttons on the side like the Naga or G600 i'd be sold on either of those. Though the price on the 700s is a bit steep for me. Considering the G600 is currently $50ish and will likely be on sale towards the end of the year. I know the 700s has 4 but the side buttons at the top mid like they are on that one. Almost looks like the back set would be a bit of a pain to reach. Having a thumb bent like that constantly.

Reason I'm on the market is I am a bad hotkey'er. Mouse clicker I am anymore.  Basically good for 1-4 on the keyboard for skills and that's it. Just older, slower, less coordinated / lazy. I usually play support roles like a healer. Which mouse clicking isn't really the best for and tend to rely on addon's which can be hit or miss. Also with limitations. Why I was curious about them.

Just an update.

Good.

I got the G600 from Amazon hoping it was a newer version and it wasn't. The weight, size, feel are everything I wanted. Build quality on mine kind of above what I expected. The two right clicks will take me awhile to get use to. I sometimes click the outside one when I am not meaning to.   First two rows of thumb buttons are in perfect position.  Will take while to learn to roll my thumb backwards and use the back two rows.

Bad.

I got an older version and it has issues with the cursor. Way to much money for a mouse that has this sort of issue. Cursor will jump half the screen at times. Not to often, but often enough that it's an issue. It shouldn't be happening to begin with for as much as it costs. I have an on going email with support seeing if they will RMA it or if I need to send it back to Amazon. Sadly if they won't replace the mouse I will send it back  and have to start looking for another brand.  Since it's 1 year later and a lot of stores are still selling pe-Oct 2012's.  If Logitech does decide to replace it there's plenty of posts on the forums where people were sent pre-Oct. 2012's replacements. That's a little worrisome and think I mention it in the conversation if Logitech will replace the mouse.

Love the mouse. So I hope I can get a new version which can be updated.

I had the Naga and did not like it so a while ago I bought the G600.  I love this mouse.  The side buttons are so much nicer than the naga and the software is so much better.

A Naga 2014 is suppose to have similar buttons.  That said personally I don't think I will even try a Razor if I can't get a G600 which the firmware can be updated on. I've seen way to many people have vastly different experiences with Razor mice. A lot of posts on build quality. Parts failing early ect.   The G600 feels really solid and well made.  Really hoping  at this point Logitech will RMA my G600 for a newer version which the firmware can be updated on resolving the cursor randomly jumping half a screen.

If Logitech won't RMA this mouse I am not sure what I will do other than send this one back to Amazon.  Might contact New Egg once a month until they can tell me for sure if I will get a newer version (which can have it's firmware updated) or not; Hopes not out the window yet but the first response from support was them playing dumb.

spot on right here. I've had both aswell. There is nothing I would change here. Well, my middle mouse button on the naga worked, but my right click faild, just like everyone else who has owned one. G600 seems much better quality.

Just to update Logitech did RMA my G600 Fri. and it arrived this morning and it was an upgradable version. People had received non upgradable mice in the past as their replacements.   The email process took about 4 days could have been faster if I called them but wasn't in a rush. Good support on their part.  No hassle just slow because I choose to do it through emails not over the phone.

So I have a glitched g600 and upgradable one.  A little surprised they didn't want the old one back if not just to trash.
