Max level is max level - I do not think it behooves companies to allow players who grind dungeons constantly be more powerful because they spent 3 months to get the gear to make them OP. Sorry, that is not my type of game - Rift had that. I think if you cannot compete toe to toe with someone, same level, armor/weapons, and skills, then you shouldn't be playing games.

having a challenge is not the same as running teh damn annoying dungeon for a chance to drop gear, its annoying and useless

and I sure wanted to know where the writer did find this kind of info, and if all that was just his opnion I sure hope they never do this, doing this waht the writer is saying to me is put allods and RFonline in the same tier, game who was good till devs start to make the game worse and worse

FOR HONOR, FOR FREEDOM.... and for some money.

+1

There are games with power creep, and there are games without. GW2 is a game with horizontal progression primarily just like its successful predecessor, and it would be just as stupid to want vertical progression in that game as it would in GW2. You can guess that those arguing for vertical progression now would have complained back then. it's not just GW2 either, can you imagine if people complained that they could not get tier x+1 battleships in eve every 6 months, equally daft.

rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW (1000 hrs on main mage)> oblivion > LOTR (480 Hunter) > Rift (230 hours mage) > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(900 elementalist), Wildstar

Now playing GW2, AOW 3

I hear this argument a lot. Well, you know what? A lot more of the skills in Gw1 were useful than the actual number of gw2 skills. There was more variety. IF someone tells me that there are more viable builds and skill variety in gw2 I would just dismiss them as a gw2 fanboy. True there were a lot of situational skills in gw1 but there was more variety, a larger number of useful skills etc. ACtually come to think of it, there are situational skills in gw2! I hate that my weapon determines 5 of my skills. I hate it that I can only have 3 utilities and 1 heal. Super limited.

Did I mention that the number of elites is pathetic. I can tell you that I used more elite skills on 1 of my gw1 chars than I used on all 5-6 of my gw2 chars.

The skill variety in gw2 is a huge letdown and it is pathetic. If you think that it has more viable skills/builds than gw1 then you are just clueless.

Haha, that is not exactly true. MMos don't take much skill. RTS, shooters, Dota style games - those take skill. MMOs are grindfest where items always seem to determine the outcome. What you mean to say that if he doesn't like it he shouldn't be playing MMOs? MMOs are not a good example of your typical games. They are an anomaly which only like 5% of gamers play. MMOs are super niche.

This game's progression at endgame made me quit. Just nothing there that made me want to continue playing. I have no interest in being the fashion King of Tyria.

MMO's don't take much skill?.....really?  Depends on what you are doing.

"While you play through a game you want to feel like you're always getting stronger."

Yes, but only if there is a limit. If I have to work all the time through gear threadmill then I won't play that game, every mmo has done that. Gw2 offers a reachable carrot. Once legendary armor or ascended armor is released there will be plenty for everyone to do, but still that max limit is reachable, and you don't have to play for years to have max gear.

Edit: and also they need to add more skills which they promised.

Yeah how dare I took their promise that I won't have to gear up again which was part of their manifesto.

Makes me a hater clearly.

Congratulations on making one of the most frequent comments made by people that dislike the game. Awww the big Promise from the manifesto quote.. You dont HAVE to gear up for anything, its an optional grind. I have a good friend who mostly does PvP and he still hasnt geared out in Exotic/Ascended gear yet he plays very well with his class and clears content.

Thanks for letting me know about the mandatory gear checks I run into every night I log on to GW2.

No mention on whether it would have the same myopic world as CoH.  One of the major reasons why I dislike that game was due to such a small and relatively unexplorable world.  You had to zone into buildings and even then, only for missions.  No points of interest outside of mission objectives.

Offtopic: I got a Diemos banned for botting not too long ago. Strange coincedences.

As far as your off topic comment goes, your facts are wrong again...Ive never been banned, period.

Great deflection comment. You know exactly what is meant, yet you ll defend it anyways. Goes both ways, as you just proved.

Can we get better dungeon design too? I love being challenged, but what they had designed was just stupid/unfun.

So why exactly is this a problem? I see no reason to progress forever. GW2 has a pretty big skill factor, you can progress in that, and both WvW and sPvP is already adjusted for it.

Favorite MMO: Vanilla WoW
Currently playing: GW2, EVE
Excited for: Wildstar, maybe?

Yes, I am excited for all the new things coming to GW2. I just finished my first 100% World Completion, so I have been wondering what to do next. All of the new content coming out every 2 weeks has been keeping me busy, along with doing dailies and getting my crafting up to 400 on my alt. For me, this new information is coming at a perfect time. I love the idea of crafting for Ascended gear, as I am not a big fan of dungeon running and I have not done any PvP in this game. WvW was fun enough while I was getting my POI's in the area, but it seems like it would get old quick. Honestly, GW2 is the best MMO out right now and I love that there is no monthly fee. With the addition of all this (free) new content they are really raising the bar for the next round of MMOs. It will be interesting to see what ESO, Wildstar, and EQNext do...

This ^

The article is mostly about how exciting the new features are. And yet another thread turned into a 'proof of why GW2 sucks!' thread. Typical MMORPG.com.

Heh, I'd definitely love to see more done with skills and traits, though. As far as PvP goes, I understand this is easier to balance. But really, I want more ways to make my character mine. The current choices feel really claustrophobic at times.

A LOT of people predicted many things that are plagueing GW2 now.

That being said, I always liked the following quote:

"When you make everyone special, no one can ever be special." ~ Unknown

Or something along those lines :). I think it illistrates that point that no one can ever be the "jack of all trades" dps/healer/tank/control in any game. People like rolls, in RL and in-game, and once you take that away in an RPG (hint: Role Playing Game, note the "ROLE" part?) it stops being fun for a lot of people. Without purpose people stop caring.

All of my friends quit GW2 a long time ago because of this. That, and their "mainstreaming" that they did to the game to make it head-smashworthingly easy.

I hope all the best for them though, real people in those jobs.
