I feel that game Moderators have a rough life they are suppose to figure out a way to toe the company line and keep the forum from degenerating into a bash fest.
This is very hard today in the current game environment. Many have had there favorite game come and go and they long to the glory days of that game. And there are generations at war who grew up in different time periods trying to recreate what they miss.
The biggest problem with the MMO universe is World of Warcraft. Now I am not going to start bashing on wow I played it got tired of it, but lets face it for a huge number of people it was and still is a great game. Probally the most successful of all time, but in the end it really wasn't for me.
I was born in the age of Ultima Online another great MMO. WoW and UO have some very stark differences, Ultima online had player housing and an amazing crafting system with all the content there to allow those with imagination and creativity to create there own end game. WoW creates the end game by expanding content... Different models of business, different types of players.
The Problem is that my perfect model derived from UO really is no longer developed.
huge open world with no personal instancing
Great Crafting meaning you personally harvest the resources needed to craft and then a crafting system where what you make is actually usefull.
Open world pvp
Darkfall is similar, Wurm Online maybe the closest but both lack in the ability to keep my hooked Wurm is an amazing game but its so slow. If a company that actually had money could tweak that game but not gut it wow that would be a gem.
As for Darkfall the original was better they went in the wrong direction.
And I am just one example of a lost soul waiting for a game that fits my needs and there are tons of people out there like me waiting for a game that fits there own personal needs.... So when a game like TESO comes along were we loved the single player game we all get spun up and excited be cause we can all spin TESO into our perfect game that would meet our needs...
For me TESO would have been an amazing Open world non instanced Gem with player housing and great crafting I could easily see this game transformed into a first person better graphiced form of Ultima Online but they didn't go that way....
They went with the overly used Instanced Themepark crap that every game that's released today is some sort of bastardized form of the World of Warcraft model.... Because wow did so well we have to make our game like wow !!!
But the dev's keep missing the mark that the BEST GAMES are the original GAMES
All these games created there own everything and became an example of something to clone.....
Dev's need to stop cloning wow or they need to come up with something New Fresh not seen before!
UO,Shadowbane,SWG,Darkfall,MO,Wurm Online,Secretworld,GW,GW2,PotBS,LotR,Atlantica Online,WWII Online,WoT,Battlestar Galactica,Planetside2,Perpetuum,Fallen Earth,Runescape,WoW,Eve,Xsylon,Dragon Prophet, Salem

GW2 NPC's are boring. They fail to keep your attention. WoW players can rattle off 20 NPC names without blinking...
GW2 players might struggle with 5 let alone 10 IMO. With WoW you have the HORDE and the ALLIANCE... Hell people who never played the game can Identify with both...
What does this have to with ESO? Nothing
The next great MMO will have a GREAT STORY with FUN NPC's. Characters poeple can connect with... Characters/NPC's that entertain...
Once again... and IMO... GW2 Characters/NPC's are dry and boring.
So.. does ESO have some of these WoW qualities? If not, then it's just another Hyped up GW2.
I hope not... because I'm patiently waiting for the next MMO that grab's me by the throat and doesn't let go.... Just like CoH did (5 years) and WoW.
Oh yeah... GW2 Goldsink and Crafting disaster = FAIL

I see this sort of complaint a ton. Here's the deal. Yes, you have a right to complain about whatever you want. Yes, they should let you do so freely. But the guy having technical issues has a right to have his post seen too. So does the guy wanting to know where the quest giver is. So does the guy wanting to know about the classes, or the guy wanting to see some screenshots. Lots of guys, its a veritable sausage fest here, sorry ladies.
The point is, merging this stuff and closing clone threads is the only way THOSE guys get to have their posts seen. Its not fair to them that 3 people wanna spam the general forums with the same thing over and over in a gesture to make the game LOOK bad by having so many negative posts on the front page. Its not fair to everyone else in the forum to basically have it shut down each time someone wants to piss and moan.
So deal with it, and stop wallowing in your own crap.

Anyone with half a brain knows theres two types of complaints. Someone stating an issue they have with the game, and people spamming the forums with known issues, trolling, or trying to blow up minor issues into game breaking issues.
Usually with beta games, you have something that goes like this:
1. an issue is discovered
2. development acknowledges the issue and a work is in the making
3. forums get spammed with people begging for hourly updates, stating they are being ignored (WTF its been 2 days why no fix!?!?)
3.5 step three evolves into "they don't care" with the spamming spreading to unrelated thread, I think the thought process is that spamming the issue makes them work faster.
4. spammers get threads closed, or banned..then make alts to continue spamming using the "mods are Nazis" approach, and then spread to third party sites.
The issue moves quickly from "hey guys theres a problem over here" to "this game is trash don't play stay away its the worst game ever the devs are worse than hitler"
Irrational kids being irrational and demanding attention and the instant magical conjuring of code by developers.
Same applies to people who do this regarding game mechanics and systems that they know the developers don't plan to do, or do them intentionally in a way they dislike. They know their suggestions are being ignored because its not part of the vision or plan but will continue to spam them and draw up support, despite they know its not going to happen for a reason.
yes ive been watching a ww2 doc while I write this.

when you been around that kind of thing for so long, what can you expect from consumers to react in this market? No game is off limits to the criticism if most developers continue to want to overhype and never deliver.
why not overhype this time? I seriously can value a developer that doesn't overhype like Trion Worlds did for Rift. Wasnt overhyped and they even had open betas for a while to give people a true point of view of the game instead of a bias overhyped point of view.

OP, at the risk of repeating what others have said in this thread, I'll post the following.
Mods on the unofficial Official ESO forums on Bethsoft boards close threads for the following reasons:
1. Subject is off topic (not related to Elder Scrolls Online)
2. Subject is inflammatory or trollish. The topic chosen is done specifically and on purpose in order to get a specific reaction from readers. Sometimes they let these types of threads remain if there is a decent discussion going on in the thread despite the obvious bait attempts of the original poster.
3. Thread exceeds or hits the 200 post limit (if any thread is closed for this reason, you can make a new one and label it part 2).
4. The thread has derailed into personal attacks or spam.
5. They are trying to keep all the conversations going on in one thread. When the mods close individual threads, they will point to the thread topic that is still open. You can re-post to the referenced thread if you wish. This is to prevent a bunch of open threads on the same topic and makes it easier to keep track of what is going on.

i would argue that most of the hype is from the players themselves and their unrealistic or selfish expectations.
in some cases the game developers do over-hype their product, they are trying to market their game after all.
maybe they do feel it will be great and is fun to play. but the vile mmo community bashes every single game in development unless its an indie developer or an unknown mmo nobody gives a shit about.
yet most of those indie games are trash too, even more so than the AAA budget ones IMO
i think a lot of it has to do with gamer elitism, its just not cool to like the popular games and definitely not cool to be a fan of them.
at least that is how it is on the forums i have noticed over recent years.

Someone who knew absolutely NOTHING about PCs started a can your PC run this game topic. We don't really have any specific specs either, but that apparently didn't matter. Anyways, the thread was riddled with this person giving people bad info like upgrade CPU before GPU, and all kinds of stuff. I tell them not to talk about things unless actually know what they are talking about. I post facts, actual facts, supported by evidence. Then, I get suspended for coming off too hostile. That dumb bitch is giving people bad advice for REAL LIFE, and I get suspended because I was being a tad too hostile. Which I was, but its not like I was calling her a dumb bitch, which she is. LOL!
Here it is. I warn you if you know anything about PC gaming your head will explode from the stupidity.
Apparently all my informative posts about PC specs were deleted, because it hurt someones feelings. We wouldn't want that after all. Some people might have wasted their real life money, because of these idiots, but what is really important is we don't hurt their feelings.
Hell even the moderator posted defending here ignorance!
I would recommend avoiding that place unless you want to have meaningless chats about kittens, and how wonderful ESO is.
