I got to 80 again. I like this game. But I just feel like I'm out of stuff to do. I dont care about gear, I'm more of a PVPer but the lack of depth and meaning to the PVP, and the fact that its not on my server simply doesn't draw me in. I was going to start a 3rd toon but I just dont feel up for that. Have I ran my GW2 course? I was thinking of taking my tank and doing 100% World Comp.

Do it again! Because they're not currently planning an expansion any time soon! I hope you enjoy the temporary content they call living stories.

Facts do not require fiction for balance.

The thing to keep in mind with GW2 is that they're not, once you hit 80, forcing you down a single, narrow path of things to do like raid gear treadmill based games. WoW, for example (having played that in the past), forces you down a very narrow path once you hit max level. Only the latest raids exist as viable content since you've made obsolete all prior content. Really... what is there to do in WoW for end game? The latest raid. Add some PvP and that's it. Sure, you get the illusion of progression through the endless gear treadmill, but all that really does is allow you to obsolete what you're doing and wait for the next raid which will be power boosted enough that your "progression" from the last raid is now obsolete.

By removing the gear treadmill you're not being confined to the illusion of progression like in treadmill based games. You still can do any and all of the content you wish and have it viable. You can run all the dungeons with challenge. You can do the world events and open world dungeons. Exploration has its challenges in any zone. Jumping puzzles, sPvP (arena style), WvW, map completion, etc. all remain viable.

People are so used to the older games funneling you through a single door when you hit max level that in a game like GW2, with no forced "progression" funneling it can feel like there's nothing to do when you get there. You just need to realize you still have everything to do you've been doing up to this point. Choose what you enjoy doing, don't accept being told what you're only path is at max level.

Oderint, dum metuant.

Get a commander icon, work at your reputation for coordinating WvW successfully, lead your world up the ranks. That's about as far as 'doing something that matters' goes.

Other than that, as Volkon pointed out, GW2 doesn't guide you into meaningless repetitions. Do whatever you feel like doing, and if you really don't feel like doing anything at all, take some time off and come back later. I know, not continuing to play after it stopped being fun is a very novel idea to most MMO veterans, but try it out, you might be surprised.

I think what you meant to say about no forced "progression" is really no progression at all. There are other games out there that allow you to explore places, find things, complete special acts, gain different gear, compete in world PvP, compete in arena PvP, complete raids and dungeons and challenges, and at the end of the day, any single one of those avenues will aid in the progression of your character, instead of putting you on a cycle of earning  a lot of extras for absolutely no gains.

I'll gladly do all of those things, provided they are entertaining, without any attached progression of my character. Specifically when said progression is just an illusion to begin with that stopped being effective 3 games ago.

I agree it is no forced progression and I like that.

I would too.  The first time through.  After that, I don't know why I would, unless there weren't about a million other games out there to try.  People like progressing in a way, even if its just different types of gear for nominal stat increases.  And then when they reach the top, they like to look down and know that their climb wasn't for nothing.  Thats something that MMO players and Rock climbers have in common I guess.

I would probably feel a little bit different overall if the combat was just slightly more complex in the way you spec your characters,  but due to weapons being limited, and skills being limited, a lot of people end up being too similar and forming the same functions.  GW2 is a great game, but it just grew stale a little too quickly after multiple 80s in a few months.

World completion

Dungeon Master

Some specific equipment, like Legendaries, Cultural armor and Fractal/Mists weapons

Fractals

WvW commanding

Guild activities

...is what most people end up doing with their lvl 80s. Personally, I'm trying to get Anomaly and a higher Fractal level while I do some WvW, World Completion and dungeons. Of course, your enjoyment depends largely on getting a good guild, because doing things with randoms is often a bit boring and/or frustrating.

What is the "feel" of a real MMO? Linear boring quest chains? Being able to beat any mob on your own including BAMs? I thought that the only reason it felt like an MMO, was because the chat was full of the worse fan base in mmo's history. Shortly after wasting my money on purchasing it after release, I quit for that reason. It's different now right? Well I was hoping so and tried it again a couple weeks ago. Nope, it is still horrible.

Sorry, Tera is a huge disappointment imho.  I'm glad you like it, but once again you have come here to heckle GW2 fans helping one another. Go to the Tera fourm and explain to them that you are excited about your very needed patches. Good luck to you.

Sorry Tera is just too childish to feel like a mmo ....it was a game that died in Beta and never got any better

I say take a break, play other fun video games out there, and enjoy life.

If GW2 is your only game, there are alternatives to having fun, but if they don't interest you as a player then try some FTP games, no not as a diss, cause you might be the type of player that needs raids in order to keep interested, I'd suggest Rift as it's ftp, now to be honest game wise and the type of player I am, GW2 MMO wise keeps me entertained much more than any FTP and/or BTP MMO, as the only FTP I'd consider worth playing is Neverwinter and Rift at the moment.

No such game can keep [everyone] who plays it stuck to it after...hell I mean especially after leveling up 2 80s. Don't force yourself to do things you don't want to, you are only going to dislike the game an then post a thread "Now I'm bored boooo hooo give me a cleanex while I bash the game in this post." It's not just with GW2 all games have these forums users that do that. WHich is why I highly suggest the first line.

 mate.

I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.

I'm not afraid to tell trolls what they [need] to hear, even if that means for me to have an forced absence afterwards.

P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)

Common Sense Logic = P2P logic is no better than F2P Logic.

If the game was no good then it would not be one of the most populated mmos on the market right now. Only 10 servers for the game that was supposed to lead the genre and Arena Net them selves said was trying to beat WoW? Blizzard still poppin bottles laughing at that nonsense. I wont waste my time replying in this thread again but I will finish by saying this. Got to 80 again, now what? LMAO, that's priceless.

I didn't say the game was no good, I said it was a disappointment imho. It is populated right now because it is flooded with kids, even more than there were at launch. I don't care for the language in chat.  f you are going to champion a title using your personal signature, you should use one that catches the eye of those that can read it.

No matter what you have to say, GW2 is leagues better than Tera.  Once again, this is my opinion.

GW2 has received many awards, and compared to Tera has much more to offer.  A quick google shows that Tera has minimal if any.  Now that is priceless.

edit: 10 servers? Where are you getting that information? There are 24 servers in the US alone.

My advice is simple but I do hope you'll follow it...

Do whatever you enjoy or stop playing. Maybe go back to it later, if not: that is still okay.

Games are entertainment, play em for the fun they bring. Never force yourself.

And having to ask others usually is a sign of someone needing  a break or a stop.

Wish you the best! Whatever you decide.

Why is it that fantasy trolls are vulnerable to fire, but internet trolls thrive on flame wars?

I got to 80 again. I like this game. But I just feel like I'm out of stuff to do. I dont care about gear, I'm more of a PVPer but the lack of depth and meaning to the PVP, and the fact that its not on my server simply doesn't draw me in. I was going to start a 3rd toon but I just dont feel up for that. Have I ran my GW2 course? I was thinking of taking my tank and doing 100% World Comp.

Well, 100% World Completion is one of the requirements for getting legendary weapons, so sure, why not?

Since when is Tuesday a direction?

Try other games because there are a lot of better ones out there.

Oh right like Tera cause it's got soo much to offer!

Yes, it does but most importantly it offers the feel of a real mmo which GW2 does not.. Currently with 18 servers in the west and a major update coming July 2nd bringing the much anticipated Guild Alliance System, Sieges and Guild Halls.

There are 6 servers not 18.

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
