I would first like to say that I'm not a fanboy or a DF 1 veteran. I'm a guy who checked out the game online and decided to give it a try. I don't know everything about the game and just started about a week ago.

This game has really made a good first impression on me. I was hesitant to spend 40 dollars on the game because I am unemployed. I've been looking for a sandbox game to be released worth playing for a while now. I joined a clan and am getting good advice and they seem to be really helpful, which is a big plus.

I won't sugar coat the game and say it doesn't have problems. It does. Some of the animations aren't amazing and sometimes I do get disconnected for no reason. This isn't game breaking for me.

Lots of people are posting about how the graphics are old. I for one think they are really good looking. Almost a skyrim style feeling from them. The day and night cycle is really nice and immersive as well as the landscapes I've seen so far. My class choice is skirmisher, because I always go archer in games. At the beginning it was really rough due to a disconnect I had because other people in my house used the internet at the same time. I lost all my newbie stuff, my portal shard, mount, and newbie armor. I had to tough it out, grabbing an axe off a monster and hacking away until I got back onto my feet. Now I'm up to the point where understanding the crafting system is getting easier, prowess is starting to flow nicely, and of course that clan I mentioned before.

It's been a long while since I've felt that excitement from just going out to hunt and looking over my shoulder for someone coming to gank me. I'm not worried to lose my stuff, yet. I have backup gear crafted and in my bank.

I like how the game is starting out. The need to craft, harvest, and explore. I can't say I've felt the same with lots of other mmo's I've played before. There are times I cringe and want to yell at the screen. Other times I cheer because the person near me dies and I get to take everything from them, usually leaving behind the shovel.

The game is hard and frustrating at times, but that's why I love it so much. My mind may change in the future as I progress, but right now I don't care. I'm having a blast and just want to say that if you are someone on the fence about picking up this gritty harsh world of an MMO, try it. Give it a shot and see for yourself.

A couple hardcore vets quitting because they are bored, won't kill the game. In fact it might make it better.

I thought positive reviews and impression of this game is not allowed!  Grats to OP for finding a MMO he/she is enjoying.  I am loving the game too and this is my 6th week.  I been to siege and group pvp and it was a blast.

 

BTW this safe zone QQ needs to stop.  Games like WoW/GW2 got the entire world safe zone.  In this game it is less then 5%. If safe zone upset you, then you should quit this game and do rest of us a favor.

I concur.

Some of the same vocal vets keep saying "OMG Safe Zones are so bad. If you don't fix, I will quit."

Yet the NA server is the most populated I have ever seen it.

Compared to everything else wrong with this game, the safe zone "problem" is nothing. Most people could name 10 things far more game breaking or problematic.

So some idiotic mod on this forum gave me a warning for stating fact, that AV are utterly useless? That's not baiting people into a response or trolling, it's proven fact. Only in your narrow point of view.

Many people on the official forums have already said why holdings are valuable and you chose to ignore them.  Many guilds are building up and living out of their cities.

Only in your narrow point of view.

Many people on the official forums have already said why holdings are valuable and you chose to ignore them.  Many guilds are building up and living out of their cities.

 

They are building cities on the islands for convince. Islands cities are the inky ones worth a damn and that's inky because of certain mob spawns for prowessb and nothing else. The 5% buff to crafing is worthless. All cities on the main land are pointless. Safe zones give you everything you need other than prowess. They don't add more depth and are used by everyonenot just the casuals. If I want something crafted I want to ensue the stuff isn't stolen so i'm going to craft it in safe zone. If I want resources, I harvest most in the safe zone so I don't have worry about losing them. If im medium prowess, I live ona safe zone because I can go to most spawns I need in 10 mins

hate to say it, but your complaints seem like most gankers, you can't steal it so the idea of the game is broken. The safe zones allow people to get to a point of adventuring and pvp'n, just because you can't gank noobs or high level guys smart enough to think "yeah, best to do this part in a safe zone" doesn't detour the concept of the game. Thou , if you consider ganking and stealing the last shirt off someone's back as fun, then that explains your response as a few others that are upset about the range of the safe areas.

You keep telling everyone you play the game. I have to wonder how much you really do. If you did you would notice that many of the cities and hamlets on the mainland are already built up/being built up.

Sure most people use the safe zones. It's a wonderful addition to the game. You can relax without having to logout. It is a stress free place in a game that can be very intense at times. It is nice to be able to relax and still make some progress on your character.

As long the safezones are in i won't buy Darkfall my wallet speaks with $$$ for AV simple as that.

Rediculous that a game suppose to be FREE FOR ALL FULL LOOT cater for those who dont wanne be ganked lol.

Its a shame that the original ideas about Darkfall and vision CLAUS had never came true and now runned by some greeks bah:(

Darkfall 1 was good game but i already hated the starwars towers with laserbeams and later the implementation of safetimer for newbees soon after that i quit.

Im btw no ganker so spare your critics about now you can't gank you whine that is not case here i just want a hardcore free for all pvp game ala Asheron's call-Darktide.

Casualbears always seems to ruin hardcore pvp games, eventually they become simple and less dangerous bah:(

No because the entire point of Darkfall was that it wasa hardcore PVP orientated MMORPG, world where no one was really safe. that was part of the thexcitment of the origional game that is now gone...

Now everyone is sat in the safe zones harvesting and crafting.. no reason at all to leave the safe zone to craft anything.. even with the recent patch as it did not go far enough.

Before clans would have a good reason to build up the player cities and keep them defended.. crafting was a risk as anyone at anyone time could raid your city.. the world just felt more alive..

 

but whatever for me AV have messed up too many times and I am no longer playing and probally wont go back either.. I played Darkfall from the start to the day the servers closed down and loved the game. but i cant bring myself to  play this and I am not the only one.

 

each to their own tho if you like it then play it :)

Its not about ganking and stealing. Its about making politics actually matter. 

If you haven;t bothered reading the comprehensive fix thread, or the actual complaints made by vets it probably better to not just say "safe zones are perfect" until you know what people are actually complaining about. For instance, I don't want them removed and you would know that if you actually read my purposed solutions to glaring problems
