I still believe completely that cryptic has utterly failed in achieving a proper cash shop from my experience with ?many other cash driven games.

Your also not taking into one other major factor.   The Dungeons and Dragons community.  Don't be surprised if there is major backlash from them on this game.  I will be honest you can talk about what ever you want to about how people are lazy blah blah blah.  Fact is if enough people got pissed off and contacted wizards of the coast they could pull their weight on this game.

I actually still like MMORPGs

Seriously, the others are right. I am by no means a hardcore gamer and I have never needed a Healthstone. In fact I usually manage with just the potions from the previous tier while I stockpile the next tiers.

You do need to learn to play. Or at least learn to dodge! Hint, the red stuff is bad.

Don't even get me started with how this game resembles nothing of the actual Neverwinter. DND by no means is a casual game in this aspect and many times people were able to lose their character on a tough campaign if they were unlucky enough. I'd love to see how people would complain in this game if it truly played by the DND ruleset.

Somebody, somewhere has better skills as you have, more experience as you have, is smarter than you, has more friends as you do and can stay online longer. Just pray he's not out to get you.

Hint Hint.  This is 2013 not 1998.  Peoples lives demand more effort now than they did in 1998.  The Average MMO gamer is 34 years old, with a family, career, and other requirements that require that take their time away from GAMES..  Whether you like it or not the same hardcore rulesets that USE TO BE are no longer valid in todays world. There are a lot of people (myself included) that were hardcore gamers for years, or artists, or travelers...or whatever...prior to settling down and starting a family. Many have to take much of their precious time away from hobbies and passions to focus on that family. It's what a responsible adult/parent does. However, you can't whine and get the same skill at playing guitar or the same level of success as some guy that gets to jam and travel and do whatever cuz they don't have kids.  You don't get the same gallery shows as another artist without kids, the same parties as others, the same trips, or concerts...you miss out on a lot of personal experience to invest in the life experiences of your offspring.

My point is: why should games be any different than any other hobby/sport/artform/passion. If you don't have the time to dedicate to it, you progress at a slower pace. Regardless if you are the primary demographic for said media (which you aren't btw) it still shouldn't cater to your lack of dedication, especially not a MMO. When you were young and had the advantage of irresponsibilty and freedom you weren't complaining then. No point in complaining now. All this self entitlement now a days, especially in the Western MMO market, is astounding.

I don't mean to defend neverwinters Cash shop.. It's pretty freaking awful but really..

Using a healthstone twice per battle? Christ, you must really suck.

Learn to dodge/block, i rarely ever use two potions during a fight and I'm running T1/T2 content right now.

never bought a thing from the cash shop and doing just fine.

Thats what I was thinking.  I've only had 1 pve death and I've gotten a DC to 34, a TR to 27 and a CW to 20.  The one death was to the dragon in the dungeon you go to in your 30's (Mad Dragon something or other).  They really need to fix that asap, btw.  Other than that, I've had no problems soloing or in groups as potions drop fairly frequently as loot.  I suppose if you're going to do some "hardcore" raiding you might want one of the zen healthstones, but other than that they aren't needed.

Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?

Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.

@OP:

Find a healer friend and play as a team would be my advice. The health stone thing is a cost of soloing by the sound of it.

[mod edit] He's probably spec'd full damage which isn't a problem. However when my character has more HP than any other character in the game and is being healed for almost 50% of it's life in a single potion I believe that the OP is incorrectly informing forum goers on exactly what's happening with him in-game.

Maybe he doesn't play at the same lvl of play as you? Some people have to work harder to achieve the same as others.

Well there's many things that help assist a player through the process of leveling within Neverwinter. You have potions, you have the option of the health stones, and you have healer or tank companions to assist you, you even have dodge skills or block skills to completely avoid damage. While I know people don't play the game at the rate in which I play. This doesn't mean that they don't have many ways to negate the damage that the OP is taking.

Not Always dude  lol. Your so full off......

Since this came up several times: Just WHERE do you exchange AD for Zen ? The AH ? Or is there a dedicated NPC ?

The adult I am takes care of most things real life. However my inner-child is a GAMER!!

The mall is possibly the most expensive in the gaming industry! I purchased $100 of Zen, and used it up in eight days! You see, the potions are not strong enough to heal you when you are in trouble--and you have to wait 12 seconds to use another potion. Instead of potions you can use a Greater Stone of Health--it heals you fully, no matter how many health points you need. And here's the however: The only way to get this Stone of Health is to buy it with Zen, and you buy Zen with $$$$. So, a 200 heal Stone costs about $30! You often use this stone several times in a single battle--do the math!

May I ask at what level you felt you needed to buy potions with Zen?

I only used the Zen shop to get those key to unlock the NightmareLockboxes, I see absolute no reason to spend money on anything else and definitly not on healing potion as I get plenty just by playing the game.

There are two kinds of game players. Those who start the game and automatically figure out how everything works. Or, you may be like me. I prefer a manual of sorts where I can learn as I need. There is no manual!

I am not really sure if I understand you correctly, because when I entered the game it started as a full tutorial where most is explained by popup windows (voiced) so not sure why you would even need a manual since the game explains most basic things and if you need to know about the key setting a simple ESC then select options whill also give you allot of info.

So, I go to the auction house and bid on enough Zen to buy a Stone of Health. Success..my bid is accepted. But, the Zen do not appear in my inventory. Nor in my bank. Nor is there mail with Zen attached. Nor is it available in their External website where Zen moves from one Cryptic game to another. So, I send an email to Customer Support--two days dago. They say they will respond within four days--ah well.

Okay the first time I wanted to buy Zen I had the same "issue" then I noticed a TRANSFER ZEN button on their website (your account page) select the transfer Zen, that is if you already bought some Zen. Then select the game, the server and select the amount of Zen you want to transfer. Then transfer and you will get a confirmation message that your Zen is been zend ingame. Login to Neverwinter or if you have Alt/Tab return to the game and you can begin to spend your Zen.

It's reached the point where I can't play without Zen. I am certainly not going to drop $100-200 a month to keep me supplied in Stone of Healths, and I have to wait for Customer Support.

As asked before what level are you cause apart from the key's to unlock the NL's I really see no need to use ZEN for anything else. But then again I am only lvl 36 and perhaps you around cap lvl?

I accept I'm not the best MMO player--but I am experienced (started with UO) and I can list game acronyms by the dozen--yet I keep bumping into a wall. I have to wait until I hear from Support. Frankly, after that Stone is finished I suspect I will be looking around for something a little easier for a dummy like me.

Don't consider yourself a dummy, just ask questions either ingame or like you do here on mmorpg.com.

Actually, isn't it still in "open beta" and therefore not "in prime time" yet?

I have completed all the Tier 2 dungeons without ever touching a greater health stone. Also it costs $15, not $30.

You claim the Zen from the bottom button on the window where you do the Zen to AD transactions.... not in the mail.

There is nothing wrong with the dragon. Content gets much harder than that in the Epic Dungeons. And while soloing from 40 upwards.

Using a healthstone twice per battle? Christ, you must really suck.

Could it be that the content get's harder from 40 upwards because you're supposed to have Rank 4 runestones in all your gear slots while in the 40's ? And Rank 5's after L50, and so on ?

I'll bet many people don't have the tier-appropriate runestones equipped...

All my gear have Rank 5  runestones aswell my companion slots, I had some of them since level 32 and fully decked now at 35,  yet most of my gear is still "green"

So far seem to collect more companion runestone enchantments closing in on 4 of each to hopefully make Rank 6

I  find them too expensive to buy with AD I'll just have to be patient to collect them during my journey's.

First, let me say this is a finely crafted game. There have been too many server crashes for it to be ready for prime time

Actually, isn't it still in "open beta" and therefore not "in prime time" yet?

You are correct Sovrath the game is officially in open beta. Yet the game feels finished to me, the only server crash I experianced was last weekend. Though I aint playing 24/7.

I spent 60 dollars for the Guardian pack.

I am now lvl 60 with several 15ish alts. I have completed several dungeons on my 60. I have lots of nice gear on my 60.

I have earned an additional 2 million AD on my 60.

Grand total that I have spent beyond that intial 60 dollars.
