You mean my posts where i bring up shortcoming of the game and actuallly back up what i am saying by explaining those shortcomings? yeah you can throw them in the 'negative' pile right over there.

*rolls eyes*

Well brother by all means sell your negativity as that seems to be the gameplay of this website but as far as backing it up well you can believe what you want too I guess.I dont have any doubts whatever gameplay bugs will be ironed out as Trion seems to do well in that department and in adding content as well. As far as the games worth I guess it is more up to the individual but it does offer a hell of alot more than quite alot of other games with the same pricetag so take it as you want to.

"rolls eyes" right back at you

OP asks to give us opinion of the game if it is worth 60 bucks or not. So some are going to say yes and some are going to say no.

But what is interestig is that hardly anyone who is saying 'yes it is worth it' is being targetted or harrassed for doing so but those who said 'no' are being jumped upon. May i ask..why opinion of people like me is 'selling negativity'? did i target you in any way for thinking that game is worth 60 bucks?

So there is no difference between someone who just types 'game is a fail..trolololo' and someone who actually explains why he/she thinks game has shortcomings? because people like you just love to pile up both kind together in name of negativity.

I don't know what is the gameplay around here but you yourself are a cliche of people just refusing to take any negative feedback about their favorite MMOS.

It is really unfair to come into the topic which ia asking opinions on both sides of spectrum and just brush aside  the opinions which do not agree with yours as 'selling negativity'.

This tends to bea trend on Internet forums no matter where you go or who you are, you are either a fanboy, or a hater.

 I try to be niether.

As far as the comments about the chat window, you are justified when you say they are inadequate, or need to be upgrades to a better system.

But your first comments on the chat system did not say that, they said there is no communication, and it is a single player game with other people sharing the space. Which is not true.

And for those claiming that this is not an MMO, define MMO.

An MMO is a Massively Multiplayer Online game, which this is, the first MMO's back in the early 90's were lucky to get a couple hundred people on a server...still considered an MMO. This game Defiance is an MMO in every sense of th term.

Just because something is not up to your personal standards, does not make it any less of an MMO.

Not so nice guy!

1-I never said Defiance is my "favorite" MMO.I said it was worth what I paid for it.

2-I dont believe I was targeting you or jumping on you after 1 post of saying you dont like it, I made one simple reply to your particular criticism over the chat in this game and compared it to the chat in another game that I experienced similar problems with and maybe I shouldnt have added the "should I hate GW2 for it too" part but sorry it seems to me you are selling it pretty hard as being a bad game and not just a game you didnt like.

I am sorry Trion ripped you off for $60 hope you can contact them and get a refund.

And you continue to assume and put words in my mouth yet again. Nowhere i said Trion ripped me off my 60 bucks However i did say that in its current state it is better to wait atleast till patch on 15TH. Why did i say that? because OP asked us to give our opinions..shocking i know.

Here is a little peice of advice. next time do not participate in discussion which is asking for opinions both in favor and against unless you can actually handle the 'againt' replies. It defeats the whole purpose of the OP.

If my criticism of the broken chat system is me trying hard  to 'sell it bad' than that is your own in security not my problem.

Lol ok w/e you say, I made one comment that you didnt like and you are the one that seems not able to handle it so maybe you should take your own advice about not participating in discussions.

Wasnt you the one that made some highly positive post about Defiance then a week later made a post about how it and TSW made GW2 look better than it really is?

And what difference does 4 days really make-todays the 11th why would it be such a bad thing to buy it now if you are saying wait til the 15th I dont get it-the game isnt going to drastically change in 4 days its just going to get more content.they are already doing stuff now to fix the problems and compensate players-

Actually i said GW2 launched in better state and content than both TSW and Defiance. I am glad i don't live in a black and white world like you where everything either sucks or is completely perfect. Some like me live in between.

Also please do not thrown my lines at me. Till now i haven't targetted or harrassed anyone for saying that Defiance is worth 60 bucks or for praising the game. I just expect similar curtsey without people like you jumping my bones.

Nor have I targeted or harrassed anyone for saying it isnt worth it< I replied to your post about the chat and you didnt take it well and the rest has been back and forth.

And sry GW2's chat was just as bad when it released as this games is and I honestly dont think it launched in all that much better of a state.

Despite the bugs .. IMHO it is worth $60. I hope the DLCs are good.

Im sort of surprised this many people played enough of the game to vote no.  Or even yes. Maybe a "Not sure yet" should have been added.

Not to get into the arguing about arguing, I voted 'no'.   Played Beta for several months, found the game surprisingly fun despite many problems (some bugs, poor character customization, but mostly UI).    Just not worth $60 for me.  It has to compete against everything else I could use that for, and it fails.   $25, maybe.  I think the PC price is held hostage by the console prices.  I also expect it to drop in price after the show finishes its first season.  I have enough other stuff on tap, that I will just wait.   Not a bad game though.   And Karl Von Bach was pretty dang funny.

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

I was looking forward to this, however once I found out what the acctual crossover was it started to weigh on me more. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/04/09/defiances-game-tv-crossover-is-disappointing

Sadly if you are going by that article you don't know what the actual crossover is lol. IGN decided to ignore everything the devs and players have said and went with what they feel the tie-in would be like and then went on a tangent about how it isn't what they felt it would or should be like.

The reality is that the tie in is going to be weekly story missions that give more information on past and future episodes of  the TV show. After all of that the game will have an impact on the second season if they are granted one.

Spoiler below highlight to read

The first story mission introduces you to two of the main characters in the series. You go through a series of  missions eventually leading up to them stealing a Crystal from you.  The first episode starts off with them using the Crystal they stole from you durring an Arkfall.

Its sad that some keep trying to use the IGN article considering they either misunderstood or misinterpreted the information presented or willfully spun it so that it looked like a negative.

“the Defiance TV series is a revolutionary weekly drama that impacts the game, and gives you the chance to change the show.”

The above quote is the basis for IGNs dissapointment. Trion has delivered nothing more and nothing less than what they stated. The TV series does impact the game and yes if there is a second season, which is pretty likely considering Syfy has invested in the game and are also banking on advertising revenue from the show, players will have a chance to impact the show. This was all stated very clearly by Trion and Syfy.

I don't know where the confusion could have stemed from which is why I'm not overly inclined to believe they simply misinterpreted or misunderstood what was said by both Trion and Syfy.

Its funny how they watched the pilot but didn't bother to do the story mission in the game so that they could actually see the tie-in themselves lol.

Well I havn't made a decision solely based on that article yet. It just weighed on me more, especially since they cannot guarantee a second season which leads me to ask then what happens to the game? I may pick it up though I have a sweet spot for MMOFPS games. And I liked Rift even though I dont play it

Whether it is worth it or not is personal opinion.

However I think that if you can't even fork out $60 to buy a game potentially for a genre that you might like, I think your financial situation is suspect and you probably shouldn't even be playing games.

The only way it will absolutely not be worth it is if you are not a fan of sci-fi in general.

WTF? Just because I am unemployed and had to pimp myself out for $60 (took 3 weeks of work to do so) I shouldn't be playing games? Who are you to judge?  :p

that guy was just wrong for judging people who cant freely fork out 60 buks for a game. btw it doesn't mean that some won't fork out 60 buks for a game means they have financial issues. some just rather spend their money on better things then wasting it on a game that lacks content. please summarize to me what the game has to offer because this is my summary of the game. arkfall, shadow war, sidemissions, story line, some co ops maybe. now do that every single day doesnt take to long until you get bored :) now what does other mmos have to offer? crafting, gathering, dynamic events social economy, instances story line side missions and many more. even firefall has more content then defiance atm. only thing defiance has to offer is story line and thats it. let me change that, EVEN DUSK 514 has better content to offer then defiance. atleast dusk 514 gives you a real purpose to why to fight for the maps, and why you want to upgrade. not to mention the interaction between eve and dusk is epic. so sir if you're going to argue about how others wont fork out 60 buks for a pos game called defiance then i suggest you take your time and play other mmos before you judge others. people like you we blow up in eve :)

The Critical Hit Pretzel!

Yes, considering that much of it is sounding to be planned releases as it goes with the show. Its possible it could end up being underwhelming, but knowing trion it makes me believe theres likely a lot more planned to come out in unison with the show.

If just making judgements based off what is here now? Eh. Its one of those deals where you need to consider just how the game is laid out. If you just look at 'what is' there ignoring that theres likely a lot locked away till it reaches points in the tv seies, your going to be underwhelmed.

Cant please all the people all the time. So Defiance just pleases some of the people most of the time. This game is for me what killed WoW.

The chance of a second season like I said is higher than pretty much any other new show to come out.

1) It has little to no competition especially with a monday night slot. Even the Syfy channel has little in the way of scifi series these days and scifi fans are wanting on just about anything at this point.

2) Syfy is double dipping here. They invested in the game and are going to be receiving revenue from both advertising dollars and revenue from the game itself.

With that said though I'd actually recomend waiting until after the upcoming patch. They've said there are like 8 pages or more of patch notes. Currently there are a lot of minor issues in Defiance and I mean a lot, there are a few major ones that seem to be effecting smaller groups of players as well. Many of us are hoping that this patch resolves most of those issues.

Game is hella fun for me though even with those issues :P

Whether it is worth it or not is personal opinion.

However I think that if you can't even fork out $60 to buy a game potentially for a genre that you might like, I think your financial situation is suspect and you probably shouldn't even be playing games.

The only way it will absolutely not be worth it is if you are not a fan of sci-fi in general.

 Not judging, just stating facts.

You are playing PC games here, not iPhone/android apps.

Everything costs money. Not to mention the rig REQUIRED to play comfortably those game itself is probably not cheap.

Even if it is free to play you will be paying for it some other way... very expensively. Just look at swtor.

There is no free lunch.

$60 bucks is 6 cheap lunchs at today's price index. It is not as if what were are saying is is $150 bucks, or a virtual item for $60 bucks. You are talking about intellectual property here - people who had and will still work hours (since it is free ongoing minus DLC)and have to have money to eat too to entertain you.

$60 for game and unlimited access to their server for the duration of the game's lifetime - I think that's pretty freakin' cheap.

But I guess only your freebie matters - other people don't need to feed their families.

Also your comment on Eve is inconsequential and comical, and has nothing to do with topic at hand (hence I didn't quote it).

This is a fair point, Swanea. It couldn't hurt me to think a bit more flexibly. Hopefully, people will respond if they are on the fence still and maybe explain why.

The reason I've been thinking about trying Defiance is that I have been playing DFUW a lot, and plan to do so for at least the first month after launch. It's a pretty intense game and requires a lot of conentration and extended blocks of time to get anything done. I need a quick game I can just jump into and have fun with  for 20 minutes to an hour. So, I don't necessarily need a full blown mmorpg experience for that type of game, but I like to play a game with other players around me. And I'm not into a gear progression game, so that's also a plus for me. Gear progression has been done sufficiently in WoW, and I don't need another game for that.

GW2 used to be that quick easy game to jump into for me. I still haven't hit max level there. Got one character to 50, but I just find it a dull  for play sessions of longer than 20 minutes.

EDIT: And about the $60 comment and my earning capacity -- they really are unrelated. No matter how much money I have, I won't throw it around like confetti. It's against my personal value system to do so. So there may be a variety of reasons why people think about how they will spend their money.
