I understand what you're saying and I feel the same way. It turns out that I just really don't like games where you don't target/face your enemy. I felt the same way in DDO -

 

It's weird to discribe... It doesn't feel like you're swining AT someone, rather just swinging to swing and they were in the way. It looks odd and it really destroys the immersion factor for me.I just can't play a game with this type of targeting... or lack thereof.

This patch brougth me back, bottom line I'm not running around constantly stammed...now its more remembering to use conversitions where before was just dumb.

Ive played the new patch, and NO it does not change the feel of combat. It is still dumbed down compared to the old more skill based game. As a warrior you still just run around swinging sword, using 1-3 skills, getting out ran by skirms who kite you all day. There is a ton of class nerfing/buffing that needs to be done to balance. Still no dungeons, enchanting, land towers, heck about 50% of the game is still missing, including 2/4 schools for each class.

On a side note - the game is much more stable, and playable. I does feel like a more optimized launch ready game, minus the lack of content, but what they do have in game is solid, besides class balance.

That is a big negative and something they need to address - they need to get rid of the clunky melee or people will get in game and be like WTF is this horrible, clunky combat.....

The pointis any single player game or small multiplayer game will clearly have far superior graphics.

IMO, it was better than WAR.  But both are worse than Darkfall in terms of PVP.  Mostly because they are not in the same class/league.  They focus on RVR/arena pvp with no consequences and with Darkfall it is world pvp for keeps with the chance to lose or gain everything.

So say they fix the clunky ass melee combat - is it a show stoper IF load lag still occurs when debug mode is off?  That will be the next hurdle for them....

LOL they could actually fix load lag by randomly lagging people in game, that way you would never know if it was real or not.

If the load lag is still there people are going to be raging - that is the #1 thing they wanted fixed.  It's like having built in radar - LOL  Load lag - time to mount up and roll....

Who cares if I get bored at work and want to post...  Load lag is a VERY legit concern and is the #1 concern from the old game. If it is not gone then nothing has changed and they have failed again....

From what I can tell, yes it mostly seems to be gone or largely mitigated, however I have yet to see a *big* zerg roll in which may yet still cause some lag. I sat in a starter town running around and trying to note what was happening when stutters did occur, and it never seemed to coincide with players zoning in, which was easy enough to see by watching the bindstone.

Stutter was also significantly reduced for most some time ago now, when they changed how much and how often the logs got written to, which points to the fabled debug mode actually being real, and not just an excuse.

Bu that is what I cannot figure out.  I never had the load lag while in the main cities at all.   Only out when doing PvE - so that will be interesting to see if fixed.  If they did fix it then kudos to them for sure because in a game like this it cannot be there.
