2 things. After all these months thousands of mods made.

From gameplay overhauls not 1 was as good as OOO (Oscuro oblivion overhaul) was in oblivion. Couple of the overhauls exist in skyrim do some things good but they also add some things changes in skills trees or other areas that are ridiculous or simply wrong .

I was expecting a mod that makes vampire enemies look like vampires ,more crrepy and more like undead monsters closer to gothic tales with fangs visible trying to bite and claw instead drawing swords and axes , or talking about weather (lol) and fighting and behave in combat like u r fighting  a battlemage.

Till now all vampire mods launched either try to improve player expirience as a vamp ,either improve vamps being more humane aka  twillight or something.

personally i hate fucking up my TES games with mods.  there's a reason the devs don't add all that shit to the game.....it sucks.

I think the prostitute mod corrupted your game files man. -elhefen

In theory the mods are a cool idea. In reality however, they TOTALLY mess up your game with bugs and crashes. Not so much early on, but as soon as Beth adds DLC content, it always goes haywire with Elder Scrolls. :(

A forum is a place where people can discuss about different opinions. So what I don't get is, how people react offended when they come to a forum and then find... well different opinions. If a different opinion offends you, what are you even doing here?

Personally, I hate not getting my TES games modded.  There's alot of reasons why so many fans have taken it upon themselves to tweak, enhance, and add onto the base games.  And not to mention FIXING stuff that has not been officially fixed, or never will be fixed by the devs.  I love Bethesda, I really, do, but like any other dev house, they occasionally implement something that makes pretty much everyone go, "What the hell are they thinking?"  And even after a final patch in support of a game, there's things that will never be fixed.

If you're afraid of mods and compatibility issues, as well as the very manual nature of some of them (especially Pre-Skyrim), then don't deal with mods.  If you're afraid of additional quests, NPCs, equipment, monsters, or changes to the core gameplay to suit your tastes, then by all means, stick to vanilla.

If you're not afraid to do some work and some CTDs due to improper mod installation / compatibilities, and unlocking a whole world of FREE content and upgrades, then by all means, do go on.

When I go back to vanilla, I simply cannot tolerate the very base game, absolutely awful and lackluster vanilla perks, the still abysmal UI, character butter faces, easy NPCs.

Mods like SkyUI, SPERG, ASIS, Immersive Weapons, Immersive Armors, Better Vampires, Racemenu, Ultimate Follower Overhaul, etc. add on immensely and refines what the base game does.  There are mods that massively change the game.  There are mods that are simple, tiny tweaks or addons to the core game.  Hell, I haven't even listed any of the graphics / model / texture related mods out there.  There are alot of mods to whatever tastes there are to you, as a player, and hopefully you find what you want to make the game better for you.

Mods are there for a fan and player to improve their gaming experience.  And they're OPTIONAL and they are FREE.  Simple as that.  This has long been a perk with PC gaming, one of the platforms' greatest strengths that you will not get anywhere else.  Customizing a game to your tastes.

Vanilla Skyrim simply cannot hold a candle to a Modified Skyrim that a player has worked towards suiting their playing ideal.  Bethesda did a great job in getting us the game to begin with.  But it has definite flaws, and the fanbase has seen to it to fix, tweak, and add onto the core of Skyrim, and share it with their fellow fans.

If you don't like them, then don't bother with them.  If you want to adjust the game, then the OPTION is there.  FREE.  All it takes is some time and commitment to learn how the process goes for mod installation if all you're interested in is downloading and using mods.  If you want to be an actual mod author, then that of course takes alot more.

And mod authors work quickly to make their mods compatible with the new DLC and patches.  I normally don't allow Steam to autoupdate a game that has mods installed.  Skyrim definitely qualifies as such, and I give it some time before mod authors make the adjustments.  Some of them are very quick with it.

I dont remember why, but i shrugged Skyrim off when it released. I think maybe b/c i purchased the console version.

However 2 weeks ago i purchased the full game (pc version) and the dlcs out of bordeom. After doing so and downloading several mods, my head has been spinning in amazement every day since on what ive been missing out on. My computer even sucks and this game is beautiful and lag free WITH 93 mods downloaded and installed. I could list some if anyone interested.

Let me be clear; if you play this game with the correct mods, in my absolute most humble opinion as someone who is absolutely bored to DEATH of current MMORPGs, Skyrim (with mods, even on a shitty pc) is one of the most mind blowing experiences i think i will ever have. Just... wow.

I am an anti-mod type gamer, usually.  The reason is that, like the "sandbox experience", most player-driven content is complete crap. However, I am hooked on Skyrim mods! I couldn't imagine playing without my mods!

Yes, I have had a problem with ONE of my 60+ installed mods. It was very easy to find. My game started freezing when I was using a torch and magelight at the same time, and I had a mod that was named "Torches and Shadows **DISCONTINUED**" installed as part of a collection. I unsubscribed to the discontinued mod, and the problem went away.

One other thing.  I really used to avoid playing Skyrim when I only had the XBox 360 version.  The load times were excrutiatingly painful! Now I have the PC version as well (via Steam) and load times range from 2-4 seconds. I'm falling in love all over again!

Clearly you are missing something.  There is an official DLC called Dawnguard where they have a Vampire Lord who most certainly does not look like a Twilight Vampire....in fact, he is a pretty scary looking monster.  There are also player made mods that enhance his textures.

There are two places to get mods.  The Steam Workshop has mods that do not need SKSE, while some of the Nexus mods use that system which means they can do more things things.

There is a reason why the developers do not add mods....because they do not have the time to do so.  If you play vanilla Skyrim and compare it to a fully modded Skyrim running at ultra graphics with all the bells and whistles, you might as well be looking at a totally different game.  A lot of the mods are developer quality, remember there are a lot people doing textures for years and years.  It's not like modding is anything new.

There are quite a few mods that change or retool the gameplay like Oscuro did.  When I buy a Bethesda game, I don't just buy ti for the actual game in the box.  I know that they are going to have a lot of mods which will greatly enhance every aspect of the game.  Every TES game since Morrowind, each of the Fallout games....all are better with mods.

This is why you play Bethesda games on a computer and not a console.  Yes, they design the darned game on a console and screwed the PC users with bugs and a horrible interface.....but when the good mods sterted coming, they really made a difference.

I run with about 80 mods, the usual stuff like a ENB, high res stuff, bunch of gameplay changes, new models, new armor and weapons, followers....etc, etc, etc.

What is the point of playing Vanilla Skyrim?

A large party of why their isn't a OOO equivalent for Skyrim is because it doesn't need it. Oblivions scaling was frustratingly bad, and while OOO does add a lot of other features to the game, the biggest reason it became popular was because it did away with the level scaling and made the game more handplaced/varied like Morrowind.

It'd be neat if there was something similar for Skyrim I guess, but the vanilla Scaling has worked pretty well.

Something I want to add with my earlier post.  I love Skyrim for what it is (Morrowind was still the best!).  I enjoyed the game when it first came out because it did what Bethesda has typically wanted to do with their RPGs.

Give a big world as a playground

Give complete freedom of travel

Freedom in character development / customization (though I prefer older TES character build systems)

That said, after playing, there are noticeable things that Bethesda could have done better, or I wish implemented.  Hence the mods.  Mod communities have been backing up Bethesda's RPGs heavily for alot of years now.  Morrowind in the early 2000s, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas (Bethesda was not the actual dev team on this), Skyrim, to include supporting even each of these games' expansions / DLCs.

Yo War a question. since u played Morrorwinnd a lot.I remember that back in Morrorwind when i encountered a skeleton for example i had no idea what lvl exactly he was till he hits me.Means the lvl pool of each creature had a wider number if i was 13 lvl the skeletons i encountered were something like 5-20 lvl guessing from the damage i recieved from them making each encounter unique  upredictable and challenging. In skyrim as i noticed u understand the enemy's lvl from its name.Example if i am lvl 3 i meet draugr but if go lvl7 i meet draugr lords. Do you know if there is an overhaul that does the same job like in morrorwind? Meaning when i meet a simple draugr for example i wont have exactly an idea what lvl it is till we fight?

Also from what u suggest u use Brahanin's better vamps. Did u noticed if the changes made to vamps makes them something more than common battlemages?

I play Skyrim with about 20 mods. The great majority enhance the  appearance of items/maps/lighting/ui/crafting in the game.I cannot imagine playing without them.
