Originally posted by Voiidiin No way, for practical reasons, it should have Camelot in the name to continue to attract the DAoC crowd. |

Let's us remind ourselves of old choices for names for different games. Super Mario Bros: A game where the main protagonist is Mario and he has a brother; the game has a strong power-up system that makes Mario "super".
Tekken: A beat'em'up game simulating a tournament known as the Tekken tournament.
Halo: A FPS with a strong story element in it is single player mode where the "halo" both refers to special structures but also has a religious implication (ingame religion in the lore).
Grand Theft Auto: A game whith basically revolves around romantized view of the crime known as " Grand theft Auto".
Zelda: An adventure game revolving around trying to save/help the princess Zelda.
Skyrim: A game where the setting is a province named Skyrim.
Metroid: A game where the story revolves strongly around the lifeform known as "metroids". --------------------------
It would argue that a name should be strongly connected to the essence of the game, whether it is in lore or gameplay. If the name is generic in the sense that it could be applied in several games by different companies, I strongly suggest that your game is the first/most popular of those games: that's why "Grand Theft Auto" works even though there may be other games in the future that copies the gameplay. |
