Originally posted by zomard100 WeeeWooooWeeeWoooo, this is the hyperbole police, we want our job back. Let's just exaggerate everything! LOTRO is another strong choice and since it's completely (ish) F2P it's probably the best fit Currently Playing: Path of Exile, Everquest |

Originally posted by MightyChasm Oh I thought my character just had a corn cob jammed somewhere it shouldn't be. I bet crap in the pants would have the same effect. I just don't see how Zomard can jump from 'the title is misleading and possibly offensive' to 'you must like men'. Let's keep this on topic the person was nice enough for whatever reason to trust our biased judgements :D Currently Playing: Path of Exile, Everquest |

LOTRO would also be another good choice though I don't like how you have to pay to access some of the classes and some of the zones. The Secret World is also an excellent game but it is not at all representative. But if you like X-files/Stephen King type stuff then it is a really good choice. Great questing and character development. You have to buy it but it is free to continue to play. Also, it is worth noting that this forum is a very bad place to get good information. Everyone has an axe to grind. The Law of Conservation of Stupidity: |

The usual suspects are probably their best bet. World of Warcraft Rift Lord of the Rings Online Guild Wars 2 WoW has a very well established community where everyone considers themselves veterans, which can make it difficult for newcomers to be integrated into the social scene. Rift and LOTR, on the other hand, may tend to be more welcoming. And Rift is coming off of a fresh expansion, sure to be filled with some other new players. GW2 is the newest of them all and seems to have nothing but positive social interactions from my experience. |

Originally posted by Aeonblades Well I must admit, and my parents will hate this, 'but I like women'. That is it, I have said it now, sorry liberal parents, I know you wanted me to be gay but I like woman. Onto other matters haha to your irritation is utterly undersatandable but amusing. |

For the most mainstream experience, if planning on staying with it a while, I'd have to say WoW or Rift. If F2P is a priority, then LOTRO.

To the original poster: There's one K.O. Argument, I think: Human driven events. Now I am sure, the fanboys of X or Y will tell you how amazing GM-interaction is on their title of choice, but I don't think there is any game listed on this website that has any GM interaction worth of mention. There once was a game called Neverwinter Nights (1) that lived off human interaction and creativity. But it is not listed here, and some will challenge it to be an MMO at all, because servers had player-numbers restricted to 64 or 128 players playing at once. There might be MUDs, or HUDs, or something, where this still happens. Games that are driven by passion, not *ONLY* by the search for profit. The big game-developpers, I think, fear GMs like the plague. They fear anyrthing human, apart from paying customers. They aim for the lowest common denominator in the player base, and thus is the level of challenge, gameplay and human-interaction. Good luck in your search. I doubt you will find what you are looking for on these boards. |

for free to play / freedium its hard to say as everyone has their own tastes. while you state you do not want childish (not exactly sure what you mean exactly by that) games i have had my own mother play to some extent (so they arent too hard)
rose online (is free its anime styled though but is not bad. old but frankly still an ok game) remnant knights (anime as well but pretty good) star trak online ( its actually really easy to play IMO the space combat might take alittle bit to master, but if they are interested in giving 110% they shouldnt have too much problem) DC online (is not bad its pretty heavy towards one off payments though, for money/banking but its not bad freedium)
thats all i can think of right now. if they are worried about patch issues there is the option of playing those games (minus knights) on steam but their standalone client should work just as well. pvp is generally instanced/guild based for most, theres some farming space missions in STO that has pvp should fed or kling decide to attack each other but other then that its mostly pve least that i experianced up to max lv 50 :/ |

Originally posted by Spiersberg Ha! Touché. Okay, you are right. I am guilty of abusing your post for a personal armada against the deterioration of the genre. Or maybe against what became of a genre, that I had fun with and felt was promising. Of course you will find what you are looking for. Just don't expect too much GM-interaction. Or even interaction between players. |
