This review was good and right on the spot ..3.5 out of 5 stars thats not mediocre, and If you read trough it, he actually praises some of it's merits, like the combat for instance..But just like most of the players here that is somewhat positive towards this game , we all blame the horrendeus start of the game--just like this review at gamespy..This is an honest review . .not the one here at MMORPG'com because she hardly played it past the tutorial.. |

The permadeath feature is a stupid gimmick and serves no real value to the game. The comment above doesnt address the bigger issue of the inevitable death squads of gankers since it is a million times easier to find random victims to gank than it is to find your prior prior ganker to exact revenge. Also, the game is impossible to solo but trivial when in a balanced party. No challenge in either case.

This game is old school in every way. Including the controls and graphics, what a piece of garbage. Seriously, i'm pretty nice when it comes to my opinions of games but this one just has no redeeming factors.

I really tried to like this game, I did, but there is just no excuse for it. It's terrible, glitchy, unpolished, grindy, boring, and has little to zero innovation. This coming from a fan of the Wizardry series.

That is about where I was with it. The almost permadeath was fine but there was nothing great or even above average with the game to me. |

I tried it a bit and the combat controls are just crappy. They felt more controller/console oriented. They should have copy pasted from TERA or RaiderZ. Overall feel like your cheap F2P asian MMO.

Too many technical problems. Getting stuck on objects and killed. Getting rubber banned back into attacking mobs, when you dodged with more than enough time to avoid the attack. Flaky controls in general. It's a great idea and Wizardry is a very good series, but this game has too many issues that would be annoying under normal circumstances. That it has permadeath and these issues happen is simply too frustrating. |

LOL "Demented + pimento = Dimento" reminds me of Rift's ultimate evil, Regulos = The Regular. Neither can be uttered without laughter.

I tried this game for a little bit (that meaning about an hour). It has some cool concepts in it, but so many basic aspects of the game were a turn off. Cool features only work when they rest on a good game; without that, they're just slightly enjoyable things buried in something I don't want to play.

I cannot but agree to almost everything said above. Pathetic, clunky, poorly designed, poorly implemented, and most importantly BORING!
I loved the original Wizardry series, this does nothing but tarnish those memories. |

Permadeath makes you have to play a real game, not Call of Duty.
Not punishing people for stupidity keeps people from hating each other more than they already do by either weeding out idiots or by making people actually pay attention. The choice is theirs. |

I really really really wish there was a like button. You sir have made my day, and I have a sinus infection right now. So kudos to you! Also to the one person that said she was wrong for calling the losing stats thing stupid...work on your reading skills. She said she didn't understand why her fighter had to get stupid to get better. Not that it was stupid. Granted there is a purpose to losing the stat, but still...she didn't say it was actually stupid. She just didn't like it. I like the original Wizardry better to be honest. Furthermore, I feel that the UI and controls in the original game were better than the UI and controls in this game. A game should be difficult, because it is difficult. A game shouldn't be difficult, because of poor design (e.g. camera controls). Just how I feel. I'm glad some people enjoyed it. I hope it does well cause I liked the series, mostly the more classic style. Honestly, I don't bother with reviews most times anyways. You gotta try it out for yourself. If you like it, you like it. If you don't like it, you don't. Just not for me unfortunately. Permadeath doesn't weed out idiots. I know. I play a lot of tabletop rpgs. Stupid people just re-roll and continue with the stupidity. Stupidity is rather persistent. Just saying. |

Got some deillusional posts here. Listen guys if the game is terrible for the first 2 hours then it is terrible in general because that's all 95% of players are going to give the game. If it doesn't grab you in that time span then chances are it's not going to make some huge comeback later. And lets face it, indepth Wizardry online is not good enough to overcome it's many many flaws. I'd say this game is easily as bad as FFXIV though at least SoE didn't spend a fortune to make this trainwreck. |

Alot of people are bagging on the reviewer, but why should that person spend tons of time on one game (remember these guys review alot of games) when the game stinks right off the bat?? Sure you probably see stuff after 100 hours of playing that we don't see after one hour but msot of us aren't going to play a terrible game hoping it gets better at some point......SOE understands as much as any company that you have to grab people quickly in MMOs.......YOu get one chance with msot of us at a good first impression....If that first impression is poor, we aren't coming back...Theres too many other options out there in 2013 to play what we perceive are bad games.

I'm just in the first dungeon now and trying to give this game a chance but it's hard to do so. I hear a few saying it has some decent gameplay if you level a bit but if it's this bad starting off I'm wondering how much of my time I want to waist on this thing. The graphics and ui seem on par with the last Wizardry game which was like 2001 if I remember right. I'm going to try to give it a few more hours playtime to see if I can forsee any fun in playing this game. So far it's not doing anything for me.

I havn't really figured out the permadeath penalty either. When you die you have to run from your body to a statue like thing and then rez. You can autoport there every so often for a penalty. I think sometimes you just have a chance of "not rezzing". And that's it for that toon. So technically you could die once and not be able to rez. Another reason why this game is probably not worth me putting any more time into. Stupid feature. I guess it's rare but can happen.

tried it over the weekend. it isn't the worst game in the market but nothing that entices me to go deeper into the game.

Originally posted by shawn19606 If you autoport, that is a good start to lower your chances to revive, besides the statue is NEVER far away , unless you actually forgot to click the statues on your way inside a dungeon. Permadeath can ONLY happen if you are CARELESS and doesn't pay attention, atleast that is for the early 15 levels or so..It's not stupid, It makes you really care for your characther, besides the legacy lives on true the soul system, soul levels earnt by your characthers are shared by all characthers and stays even efter one of you has passed away.. |

In a way, I'm glad this one turned out "meh." Not a petty-spiteful thing, but simply glad I'm not missing out on something that I'd enjoy if it weren't for the "you don't heal without potions or a priest, we designed it to be expensive or difficult to play solo." I grew up chewing my way through the Wizardry franchise, so this mitigates my dissapointment a bit. Kind of like when you don't get around to catching a movie in the theater, but learn later that no big deal, it sucked anyway...
