" or " I've seen worse things said in games...".  Well I've been playing mmo's since UO.  I've never seen anything said like that by anyone, in any game I've played.  No I really haven't.  I mean I've seen some stuff, but nothing even remotely like what people are talking about here.  And if turning off general chat is the big solve, I can do one better.   I can just not touch Tera.

The censorship regarding the Elin was due to oversexualization period, if it were due to them being sexualized children (a claim which any rational human being would laugh at considering their incredibly skimpy outfits in the eastern version of the game and the world renown of the developer) the game would not have been launched anywhere , South Korea (NHN Corporation's,IE the game's publisher, mother country) has more stringent laws against child exploitation and sexual activity in general than even the US. Food for thought though I doubt that it will stop anyone too blinded by their own opinion to see facts.

By the way, the Tinkerbell comparision is completely valid.  Tinkerbell retains the dimensions of an adult woman.  Elin do NOT.

Interesting question but you have to remember australian regulators are notoriously biased against anything with an M rating so I think it likely would've gotten thrown out on its ass long before the question of the Elin was even raised.

This. It's like he's ignoring the fact that knuckleheads are using the Elin in game to feed their pediphile jokes. I haven't seen anyone trying to pass your last pic as a young underage prank sexual item for  fodder. Not saying there isn't any, but I'm willing to bet my house it is moreso the former than the latter.

it doesn't matter what someone remember of tinkerbell, tinkerbell isn't the only fairy and there isn't one version of tinkerbell... also fairies aren't the only fantasy beings that have similar qualities as that.

the reason i brought up tinkerbell is to show that the mythos of fairies is generally like that,  it's not a direct comparison as the elin are more of an anime styled version.

there's many different types of this and interpretations, etc.

which is why i'm currently not playing the game and probably won't in the future... but i do hope a future game can interpret a fairy or similar fantasy being into an mmo as a true representation.

Someone who equates images/3d models with actual real children is far more messed up than someone who perceives them for what they are: not children. A child is a person a drawn/3d image is not. A person has rights a drawn/3d image does not.
An Elin may look like a child but it is definitely not one.
Its this simple:
If you can not distinguish between reality and games seriously go seek help, regardless what you think of Elin.
If you think Elin are sexy you do not have a problem provided you do distinguish reality and fantasy.
If you think children are sexy you DO have a problem.
