they are immortal, fairy creatures... they aren't human children, they aren't real... it's a fantasy game.

real children don't have fox/bunny tails, there aren't real giant ogre beasts and elves.

alot of that has to do with one's own issues moreso than the actual character... i'd be looking at the people who have a huge problem with it first and foremost as there's obviously something else going on there, not saying anyone in particular or pointing out anyone specifically but if someone is that worked up over it then there's more behind the scenes.

you see those jokes all over the internet, it's not exclusive to terra... if the entire terra game didn't exist they would still exist and go on all over the place because they're about the people.

i do agree that the one's in terra are more in the "anime style" than  in classic fantasy or outside of the realm of anime, and a little too over the top in some aspects for my liking..

but it's certain people that can't handle it, or turn it into something or make it into something it's not, etc.

i'd like to see more of these type of characters in games, fairy types or beings that aren't elves/orcs so i hope we see more of them in future games, just maybe not so over the top.

 

 

would like to add that in my eyes tinkerbell and elins are kinda diferent. Tinkerbell is tiny and have the body of a full raised woman. she is smometimes viewed as litle light point like a lantern. elins are completely diferent beasts.

Oh I don't care either way, I don't have much of an opinion other than the /ignore advice I gave earlier. That just looked really bad to me, and seemed counterintuitive to an interesting thread.

Tera doesn't send you emails saying a punishment was handed out. GMs don't tell you what they did or didn't do.

This is exactly why I quit playing. When you get people commenting on what they would like to do to their "child" character, it's time for me to move on.

OP...people are doubting some of what you say, but I found chat to be as bad as you described. Obviously people posting here do not pay attention to the chat when they play. I wish I could ignore chat in mmo's, but I watch it often to look for people selling stuff or LFG.

By today's standards, yes, most ancient civilizations would have been considered pedophilic.  Being traded for mairrage at the young age of 12 or 13 and most likely already bearing children.  Older masters taking on young boys to teach them how to have sex or as a rite to manhood.  There is a reason why those ages past were and are considered by many to be barbaric.  Social norms evolve and vary dramatically by region.  What may be considered normal and acceptable in Japanese society doesn't fly here in the USA.  Every Eastern game that ports to the US has to deal with the kiddie porn aspect of the schoolgirl races that are inevitably in them.  I'm curious though, why is it only schoolgirls and not also schoolboys in scantily clad leathers?  Something tells me that Japanese society wouldn't tolerate young boys being sexualized in alluring leather outfits.

Uhhh.....You just totally crushed your own point.  As the little toons look NOTHING like the woman you posted and EVERYTHING like the little girl picture you posted. 

The Elin race look like little girls with rabbit ears on their heads.  Now you can claim they look like "women" all you want, but if that's what a woman looks like to you, I'm not sure what to even say to that. 

My friend was thinking of trying Terra so we looked into it a bit, and not long after I said, " Sorry dude.  That game is going to be pedo central.  They have a race that looks like little girls with rabbit ears on their heads dressed in skimpy clothing.  You couldn't pay me to play a game like that.  It probably draws the biggest scum bags on the planet to play it. "   Of course he agreed and we never touched the thing. 

And now I have a thread confirming my every suspicion. 

As far as people saying stuff in this thread like, " Just turn of general chat. " or " I've seen worse things said in games...".  Well I've been playing mmo's since UO.  I've never seen anything said like that by anyone, in any game I've played.  No I really haven't.  I mean I've seen some stuff, but nothing even remotely like what people are talking about here.  And if turning off general chat is the big solve, I can do one better.   I can just not touch Tera. 

Yea, you put stuff like that in a game, and of course its going to draw in the worst weirdos imaginable.  That's just logical.  And so it is.  Personally I'd like to slap the devs that thought the "Elin" race was a cool, sexy idea.

Might I suggest going to the get some reading glasses? Since when did a wash board figure equal a pear shape? Do I really gotta point this out more to people? What you see in the game is what you want it to be, there are many games where people could choose to see child-like characters, some of em in very skimpy garb, and yet they don't and not because they don't want to either, but because they aren't that bad at seeing what's in front of their eyes, ergo my question is now:

Why are the people who see the sexy garb and aluring figure of the Elin automatically thinking they are sexualized children? Cause it just looks odd and vaguely alarming to me for someone to see children in lieu of scantily clad feminine characters of a diminutive stature.

I think that this conflict between people's views on the elin obviously comes about because they don't have a body type you'd ever see on a human. It's quite an amalgam: childlike head, narrow shoulders, flat chest, gigantic hips, ‘womanly’ legs, and various animal ears and tails.
